A beautiful table spans the center of the room, marble tiling mostly in tact. It seems almost surreal to see such a normal human, albeit luxurious, area in the center of this all. There is food on the table, but it is long rotting. It seems someone has set aside some earl grey tea as well.

(Roll 1d4 if you wish to look around - OPTIONAL - and match your dice roll to the results below. You can roll as much as you'd like!)

Arriving in the dining room, she was surprised to find one part of the place looking.. pretty normal. If this place had been kept up, and the food on the table wasn't all rotted into nothingness, this would have been the next best thing she found here so far. Curiously, she searched the area, finding an abandoned cup of tea left on the table.

Along with the tea, she found an old picture books. The pages were torn, but still readable. Pulling the book closer to inspect it, she eyed the images with curiosity, looking over the text next.

2: You see the ripped page of a picture book and it reads as the following:

Page 2: Eventually the gods took notice of this serpent and sliced it into thousands of pieces. It did not die, but simply writhed as every part of it was released. As time passed, all the pieces eventually gathered together again, but where it was severed there would be thick wounds, forever bleeding green.

What on earth- What was she reading? Why did the gods cut the serpent up? This book was pretty grim. At this point, she was really hoping this wasn't some children's book. The nightmares they might receive from it..

Wanting to know how the story started, she flipped back to the page to inspect it further.

Quote:
1: You see the ripped page of a picture book and it reads as the following:

Page 1: There once was a serpent and it was very lonely. "Why was I created?", the serpent asked itself. "For what reason do I exist?" It had no understanding of beginning nor end, and because of it it developed a terrible hunger. It ate the sun and moon and everything in the sky.

The questions which the 'serpent' asked hit close to home, as the same questions were often thought by herself. What exactly was her purpose in life? Was it to be one with creation? To be stuck in this vine like state for all eternity?

Shaking her head, she continued to read.

Oh.. so the gods struck at it, because it had ate everything within the sky, along with the sun and moon? She didn't quite understand, but rather than question it, she decided to just roll for the story for now.

Flipping the page back over, she looked over the second page again, rereading it for a second time before flipping over to read what came next in the story.

Turning the page, she skimmed over the pictures and words, curious as to what would happen next in the story.

Quote:
4. You see the ripped page of a picture book and it reads as the following:

Page 4: The serpent was thankful, and blessed upon those few humans its gift of knowledge and the hunger for the beginning and the end. At last, having returned to it's original glory, it parted upon them one final knowledge, when it is time to accept their own end for another beginning. It was then that the serpent consumed itself, and while it's shape was that of a serpent, it's form was that of a concept. From the concept, there was nothing left but the leaves and branches, which began new life of its own.

The snake was thankful, but.. it ate itself? And what humans? What did they help with? Staring at the page, confused, she looked over the words once again. Was this how the story ended? How could it end so suddenly, and with such a large gap? She didn't understand! No matter how many times she looked it over, the words were confusing to her, as if she had missed an important chunk of the story.

Still staring at it, baffled, a thought then dawned on her; Er.. Carefully, she attempted to separate the pages from one another. Sure enough, page three had been stuck to page four. Gee, it was a good thing no one else was here with her, because that was embarrassing.

With that small hiccup out of the way, she looked over the third page, in hopes of filling in the gaps.

Quote:
3. You see the ripped page of a picture book and it reads as the following:

Page 3: Consumed by hunger again, the serpent wandered the world. Whatever it ate would immediately come out of its gashed sides. The oceans and lands ran thick with green, and the humans took pity on the serpent, offering eventually to fill its wounds with leaves and branches.

Oh.. so that made a lot more sense now. So the snake had was lonely, unsure of its purpose, and developed a terrible hunger which caused it to destroy the sun, moon and everything in the sky by consuming it. This resulted in the god's striking it down, not killing it, but wounding it so that it could.. not eat anything again? Possibly..?

The humans found the serpent, tended to its wounds with leaves and branches. Was this serpent supposed to be creation? Was this what the vines were?

Thankful for the human's aid, it blessed them with knowledge, as well as a.. hunger? Maybe..

So the humans were able to help restore it to its former self, and they were rewarded because of it. To know their own end, and accept it. Was.. this what this was about? She was supposed to accept her end, as the picture book said?

Looking over the words, and images, the first thing that came to mind was 'Ouroboros.' A infinite loop. A cycle.. no, a return? Was 'Creation' coming back?

Unsure if this was true or false, she moved away from the dining room to explore a little further.
