Kammy had the strangest sense of foreboding, as if she already knew this was the end. Like the countless games she played, she knew the story was about to finish, credits roll, and the usual ending text would appear.
Her hand reached out, brushing against the doorknob, and her memories ran through her mind. How she had struggled to stay alive, her friendships made with everyone at University, banding together to survive. From her time walking blind, to playing games to win her freedom, to the fog and fighting to free the leads. It was a story worthy of any game, and yet now it was drawing to a close.
She couldn't wake up anymore, for the virus had run it's course. It had consumed her.
So, this is what it's like, to be part of a larger entity. Everything was a part of her, and she was a part of everything. She was the virus, assimilating peoples minds and leaving their bodies empty husks, to rot away and propagating the virus to others, giving her even greater knowledge. She could see things, strange and surreal things that made no sense but she understood their meaning.
She was far greater then she had ever been before, and her story would create the grandest of Legacies.
No, this isn't right. I am not like this
Now she was warring with herself. She was Kammy, she was the virus, she was a university student, she was creation, she was being torn away -
And then she was herself, not a part of the mother brain, but not fully there. Her body was gone, leaving her freaked, needing a physical entity. She reached out, a few vines reacting to her need and curling around the entity, creating a mockery of her physical form. It was something, but it wasn't her original body. She needed to find it.
The vines writhed forward, trying to mimic the art of walking, searching for her original form amongst the writhing mass. the vines slithered in the gaps, then located something un plant like. A human face nearly buried by the vines.
It wasn't her body, but she recognized it as the man who had carried her. No, he has rescued her from the hell that was the zombie apocalypse. And now he was about to join her.
Not on her watch.
Her hand like vines pushed away, demanding the rest to let go, then wrapped around the humans body and pulled him free. She held him much like he had her, unstable feet walking down the long corridor and away from the main center. But the further she went, the more of her being crumble away, tendrils leaving her to head back. Soon she was just a small thing, trying to hold onto the heavy man.
Kammy passed a window, and saw the shadowed forms of other beings. They must of been his friends. The exit was just up ahead, yet she could not go further, and held out the man towards these shadowed beings, and watch them take him to safely.
A favor for a favor.
She turned towards the stairs, sadness in her heart. It wouldn't be long before she was a part of creation again, so there was nothing else to do but wonder around until the inevitable. Maybe she could talk to the other vine like beings here.
