Slowly the blackness ebbed away and Lorena found herself in the same hallway on the floor once again. Everything seems to hurt and yet… This is a dream. Lorena would never do those things to do her friends or Hurby for that matter. There is another door, this time green that looms over her. She doesn’t want to go through; she doesn’t want to live through whatever is on the other side of this nightmare. The only problem is how else was she supposed to get out of here? With a sigh, Lorena pulled herself up and advanced on the door.

Taking a deep breath, Lorena griped the doorknob and was instantly assaulted. She gasped as she saw everything clearly, as if she is watching a movie within her mind. Her life, Hurby, Day Zero… Everything, she sees it all and she knows what’s coming. She knew she would die eventually when it was announced that everyone was infected. She had denied it this long that she would die, that Hurby was probably already dead. Now she accepted it. She was okay with this; she was ready for whatever came next.

It couldn’t be worst then what she’d already lived through right?

Lorena twitches, there is a breaking. There isn’t really any twitching because as she comes awake, there is no body. There is nothing. She isn’t even Human anymore. The thought doesn’t shock her as much as it should have; perhaps she’s in another dream? No, this can’t be a dream, this can’t all be real. That single thought fuels Lorena, she begins to search for her body and for a long time she can’t find a single thing. It puts Lorena on edge and makes her more frantic until finally. Finally she sees what looks like her body and tries to take shape. To go towards it.

The vines obey but it is hard, Lorena struggles with them. Momentarily she catches a glimpse of something or someone. She knows this person, she saved her. Lorena struggles with the idea of helping her or saving herself, in the end she helps the girl. Picking her up, she once again struggles to get the girl out of here. No one, nothing, stops her as she does so. Still Lorena knows she won’t be able to go on forever, she will come undone but if she can just save this one person it will all have been worth it…

Gently, Lorena hands this girl over to the shadow figures. She knows this is the end, that she will not be able to return to her former self after this final act of kindness. She is okay with that, she saved someone in the process, everything has to be okay. Lorena heads up back the stairs to the other vines. She will be no more, she knows this and she is okay with it.
