When the mother of the delicate, happy little squirrel-girl comes to the door of her wagon, she will find a note, staked to it by a dull- edged knife.

My dear Friend,
The time has come- the meij has called for the destiny of your daughter to be fulfilled. She is to grow.... though the meij is curiously, almost frighteningly vague as to whether she will be a child of the dark or a child of the light.
...I've spent many an hour meditating along the river-it is where I am now, thinking on this day as deeply as I can. The only answer I have yet received is this: Rojiza has a chance at a path of light if she shows that she is willing to overcome that which will cause her great distress in her teens. For this I have seen- a moment of sheer jealousy and selfishness, aimed at one individual.
To tempt the meij away from her darker side- please, find something that Rojiza feels is hers... and have her give them to her friends, to other Fortunettes, to other mothers- to show the meij that when that terrible day comes- this event we cannot prevent... she will deal with it in a safe, way of the light.
When you have finished giving away 5 things... and Rojiza has done it at least slighty willingly... come to the river. I will be there.
~Valelldia
(ps: You can make up these items. Toys, food, etc. Needn't be something you've gotten in trade. Please rp this: note, it doesn't have to be five different 'people'- it can be an owner and their fortunette, and Ro gives something to each- poof, 2 items, one person. Please rp this here.)

Caroline takes the knife out of the door and reads the note carefully. Several times. She pockets the knife (wouldn't want someone to get hurt) and sits down on the steps to Mountain Air. Rojiza crawls into her lap, staring at the parchment even though she can't yet read. Caroline laughs, though her voice carries some heaviness. "I'll read it to ye, m'ija," she says. She reads the note aloud to Rojiza, who seems rather distressed by its message. Whether this is from the prospect of giving away her precious things (again!) or what the meij thought of her...Caroline would never know. "Come on, then," says Caroline, standing with her precious daughter. "Let's go have a look at your bonnie wee horde." She glances at Cornelius and Majesty, sharing amiable conversation while munching grass, before going inside.

Later, Caroline asks offhandedly, "Rojiza, do ye remember when Voltaire and wee Annjette came to Mountain Air? And ye played tag with her?" Rojiza nods, playing with the nut-pins in her hair. "And d'ye remember how poor Voltaire hadn't had tea before?" she asks with a small smile. Rojiza nods with a sound much like "tut tut". "Would ye like them to come back very much?" she continues. Rojiza nods once again, eyes bright. "Perhaps ye might give them each a wee giftie, then," Caroline says persuasively. "And perhaps they'll want to come back." Rojiza shoots Caroline a jaded look, as if to ask if, what, are you trying to trick me?. Caroline shrugs innocently, spreading her arms placatingly. "I'm just sayin'," she says. Rojiza jumps up to the tea cabinet and pulls out some tea. She smiles brightly and nods. "Give that to Voltaire, then?" guesses Caroline. Nod. "That's a bonnie idea, Rojiza, but it has to be yours. If you had a teacup in there, then we could put some tea in it and give it to him." Rojiza digs in the wall and extracts a blue-and-white china teacup. "That's marvelous, querida!" exclaims Caroline. "Wherever did ye get it?" Rojiza just shrugs sidelong. "No matter," she continues. "D'ye want to give that to Voltaire?" She shakes her head, frowning. Exasperated, Caroline rephrases her question. "-Will- ye give that to Voltaire?" She looks at her mug, then at Caroline, then at the mug again. She nods slowly and sets it in Caroline's lap with resignation. "Wonderful, my dear," says Caroline, kissing Rojiza's head. "Only four more to go. You can do this."

"Now," says Caroline, "Think about wee Annjette. Think about the time you spent with her. Think about how you want her to become better friends with ye." Rojiza thinks. She thinks and thinks and thinks. She shrugs, stumped. "She's a water creature, no? Perhaps ye could give her something like that," suggests Caroline. Rojiza digs once again in her hole in the wall (Caroline begins to think that maybe Rojiza didn't make that little hole...) and produces a small wooden duck. It appears to be hollow. "Perhaps something else?" Rojiza rolls her eyes and goes back to looking, nothing but her stubby legs and bushy tail poking up through the hole. Caroline almost giggles at the image. She comes up again with an enclosed glass with little boats bobbing on water. "That's perfect!" exclaims Caroline. "Put it with the teacup, and think about Anezka or Leshaye."

"Bonnie wee Anezka's--" she stops, for Rojiza is shaking her head violently. She gestures expansively. Caroline laughs. "I suppose you're right. She isn't exactly 'wee' anymore. Bonnie Anezka, then. She's a shy sort, I think. Maybe ye could give her something for comfort." Rojiza obediently (ha ha) dives back into her horde, returning with a short, thin bolt of fuzzy cloth. The cloth is striped vertically in rich shades of magenta, blue, and green. Rojiza wraps it around her neck in illustration. "A scarf! Of course!" says Caroline. "Perhaps I could cut fringe at the ends," she suggests, much to Rojiza's delight. Caroline notes with a small internal smile that this was getting easier for Rojiza. Indeed, she's already dove back into her hole again. Caroline wonders what she'll come up with for Leshaye.

Before long, Rojiza had popped up with a few needles and three spools of thread--black, brown, and red. Caroline smiles, setting down her scissors. "You remembered Lesh was a seamstress!" Rojiza nods, obviously proud of herself. This didn't feel like a chore--it felt like Winter Solstice! "I'm sure she'll love it, querida," she says. "Have ye a pouch to put the thread in? Ye could stick the needles in the material of the pouch so that they wouldna get lost," she suggests, picking up the scarf and adding more fringe. Rojiza nods and digs around, looking for the perfect thing. She ends up with a small leather pouch with a button-clasp and sturdy belt-tie. She deftly puts the thread into the pouch and sticks the needles into the leather itself. She sets it on Caroline's bed with the rest of the treasures.

"Let's find Voltaire and Annjette first," suggests Caroline, hopping off the bed and gathering the assorted gifts in a layer of her skirt. Rojiza hops aboard her shoulder and together they set out to...the adjacent wagon! "My hands are full, Ro. You knock." Rojiza knocks on Claire d'Lune's heavy door, hoping to hear an answer. She hops from one foot to the next, feeling like the Papa Noel from her mother's stories.

"Someone at the door." Came a familiar voice as shuffling happens behind the door. The door opens wide and there he stood with Annjette shyly peeking around from behind his legs.
"Ahh! Hello you two!" Voltaire said happily.
Annjette squeaked happily, "Rojiza!"

"Hello, Voltaire," says Caroline with a smile, "Annjette," she nods toward the little swan-child. "Rojiza's out giving gifts to her friends today." Rojiza waves, suddenly shy. She extracts the cup and thrusts it into Voltaire's hands. "It's Ro's favourite tea," explains Caroline. "Sweet cinnamon. In a nice cup for you. I'm sure she hopes you use it often." Rojiza then finds the water bauble for Annjette and gives it to her. She blushes slightly.

Voltaire nodded and blinked as something was thrust toward him, a cup!
He looked it over for a moment and beamed at Ro, "I will use it quite often and when I do I will think of you. Such a sweet thing to give to me. I will treasure it." It was likely Voltaire would have been happy with a strap of cloth or anything else given to him.
Annjette blinked at her present and looked the bauble over before she too was smiling, "Pretty!" She would place it somewhere safe and treasure it always.
"What do we say Jette-duckling?" Voltaire prompted gently, he was attempting to teach her a bit of manners.
Annjette peered up at Voltaire before uttering, "Thank yoo~, RoRo." She blurted 'RoRo' without seeming to think too much on it. Annjette didn't remember anyone else calling Rojiza RoRo, but it was likely there was one or two.

Rojiza giggles, adoring the nickname. She blushes and wiggles her shoulders back and forth. She scrabbles up to Caroline's shoulder again. "We'll be off, then," says Caroline, smiling. "Other gifts to deliver. Ta!" she adds, blowing a playful kiss at both Voltaire and Annjette. Rojiza waves over Caroline's shoulder as she descends the steps and heads toward Leshaye's wagon.

Knock knock. Marissa raps gently on Caroline's wagon door, looking to borrow some flour. She's got Kale at her hip, who's looking about curiously.
