She was getting smarter. Smarter in the war and smarter with her spent time. When she was not powered, she was enjoying the quiet lifestyle with Magiore. Days where they would sit and read, or just enjoy each other's company.
She had even taken up archery, with her new time. As well as using the modern technology to take her college classes when she felt like. The small degree she was working on would take time, but she would get there.
But her powered time, she felt was even more well spent. Each night she had powered up had led her to a new discovery among the chaos side of her new home. Whether it be from the negaverse agents she conversed, or the discoveries of the vastness of mirrorspace. She was not bored.
Tonight, she was just as hopeful as she ventured from mirrorspace into the real world, stepping from the cold glass into cool autumn air. Tonight held promise, but she couldn't say why.

His eyes were hollow from a lack of sleep. Sleep came poorly to the senshi the nights following his trip to his wonder. Each time he closed his eyes, he saw green water swallowing up that young woman Mayu, the shadow of a great beast hidden in the water. Each time he woke up feeling like he was drowning and shook violently until it passed. Hydrus elected to simply stay awake after the fifth such episode that night.
He'd been on high alert for two days now, forever on the verge of a panic attack. He was sloppy, tired and unfocused, and jumped at the slightest sound. Why he was even powered up in this state was questionable, but the fuku and extra strength helped stem the tide of fear. Hydrus tried to stay out of the main areas of the city, keeping to little known parks and green spaces. He was as careful as he could be in his sleep deprived state.
A chaos signature, far more powered flared on his radar too close for comfort and all that panic welled up inside him exploded. The senshi flung his hand out in front of him and called out the name of his attack. A tiny leviathan materialized from his palm, dropping to the ground and slithering towards the energy signature. It was only after the little creature had made to chomp down on her ankle did he realize who the chaos belonged to.
Mintaka.

She didn't get much farther when she felt the small bite of something at her ankles and then back up at to the order Aura coming for her. She was prepared to fight but when she felt the famalier surge, her fist came down and she had retrieved the small dragon, like one would pick up a kitten.
"I believe this is yours, no?" She smiled and came over, dropping the dragon in his hand, should the magic not fade. Then she cupped his cheeks and stared into the tired and blemished eyes.
"Oh Hydrus...What's wrong?"

The little leviathan chirped and dissipated with a flick of it's tail as she dropped it into Hydrus' hands. Short rental period on those buggers it seemed. He trembled, now empty fingers twitching. Everything hung on a needle point, threatening to tip over and crash into the abyss below. Fear and panic shot through him, bubbling just below the surface. His nerves frayed and splintered and he began to hyperventilate. It all began to fall apart, then her hands were on his face and he collapsed against her, chest heaving.
Hydrus did not cry under normal circumstances. He did not show much emotion, even during panic attacks. He handled things privately and with control.
There was no control here. He clung to her, long hair falling over his shoulder to her. Sobs shook his frame, and he gasped for breath. Between sobs, he rambled out his thoughts and the whole reason for his panic.
"Went to my homeworld. Just an island with a dock. Whole thing's water. All water. Levianthans too. I think. No. Not me, but me, going to bond with one. Some young woman.... sister? Maybe. Levianthans. Too much water, so much water Mintaka. I can't. That place. No. Keep dreaming I'm drowning, keep seeing her drown. I. I. Can't. No. Too much water," he shuddered, the words coming too fast and too close together. He sucked in a shakey breath, hands digging into her back.
Even now, he could still that, that... memory. Why couldn't he stop thinking about it?!

She watched the range of emotions appear on his face, and knew, much like a dam breaking, that she would brace herself for the flood that was sure to come. She would stand strong for him though.
Her hands reached up to hold him, petting into his hair gently, comforting him. She didn't tell him to shush, but let him go on. A fear of his homeworld, of the water and it seemed the memories that came with it.
"You aren't drowning." She cupped his cheeks and brought them up, so his blue eyes would meet her red, she rested her forehead against his. "Look at me Hydrus, you are on earth. You are with me. There is only woman here." She smiled, "There is cool grass, and solid dirt underneath us. The sky is wide open. You don't have to think about it. Just take a deep breath." She waited, deepening her breathing to match his, in attempts to soothe him, her hands moved again to pet and comfort him.
"You're with me now."

It took him a long time. He stared at her, wide eyed, for a very long time. His eyes danced around hers, fingers twitching around her wrists.
It took him a very long time to anchor himself to her, to ground himself. He thought of her, thought of the vague memories of the future he had, of that school they had. He thought of her in white, in black, her smile, her patience. He took a deep breath, centering himself in the smell of grass, the dirt beneath the plants some feet away. The smells of the city. The night was quiet, but he could hear faint cars go by, and the trees shift in the wind.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Hydrus' breathing slowed into a calm, steady rhythm. He did not have full control back, but he wasn't trembling nor breathing heavy.
"... Better... that's... better. Focusing on you helps," he said, blue eyes softening out of their panicked state. He still trembled slightly, still on edge, but he no longer shook like a tree in a hurricane.

"There you are, my precious friend." She smiled at him, she tried to keep him calm. She tried to make him focus on something other then the fear.
"You visited your homeworld." She said it as a statement, not as a question. "And the memories there were not good?" Now was the question.
"Should we sit?"

He nodded, finding a place to sit. The memories were not bad, per say, but he's not been expecting them, nor their contents. He wondered if that was part of the whole thing. To be a wielder of magic, one had to know where it came from after all. He did, once, create an entire race of people whose magic was built around history and tradition. But this was different than that. This was far more real than anything he'd created.
"They... Were not bad. Startling mostly. It was not something I expected. It was so real and vivid, as though I'd lived it myself. But, I didn't, right?" he asked her, frowning in confusion. There was no logical way he could have lived that life, yet it didn't feel like a dream. The young man pulled his hair over his shoulder and pulled the clasp off the end. Hydrus slowly slid his fingers through the strands, preparing to braid it. It was a calming motion, more to relax his nerves than tidy it up.

She gnawed at her lip, and cocked her head at the young man.
"Once upon a time, you did." She smiled sadly. "From what I have gathered, and my time as a white moon senshi...We are reincarnations of the senshi before us. All of us...we suffered greatly." She didn't know how else to explain it but..."Going to your homeworld, it was destined to have wonderful memories....and very tragic memories."
She let her hands fall to his bangs and that were attempting to escape from his tiara. "Magic is a wonder truly. You may think its not logical to have lived that life, and yet why would you have those memories? Perhaps...Home worlds. They awaken something in us when we go back." Hadn't she suffered from it before?

That wasn't... how was that possible. Then again, he went to space and didn't die from lack of oxygen so something was going on, but how could he have lived another life? Hydrus frowned at her, sea-green eyes staring at her with confusion.
"But that's... why would they give us memories? Why would they feel the need to do that? To make us not commit the same mistakes?! Because... that's incredibly inconceivable when the entire planet seems to be one giant ocean of near undetermined depth and is just open water just sitting there..." Panic began to bubble in his chest again, and Hydrus' hands shook, fingers twitching. Too much water, there was too much water. Why the hell would you give a water filled planet to a hydrophobic, who CLEARLY never grew out of it, in this life or the past? What deranged sense of humor did the cosmos had to do that to a person!?
"I can't... Ican'tgoback. Not there. I don't want it, I don't need it. There's no... I can't I can't I can't Mintaka I can't I can't I can't..." he sputtered, eyes gone wide in fear.
Too much water, going to drown, drowning drowning drowning down down down down!

"Magic is odd. But I would like to think its because the last time your planet saw someone...it was the former you. I've heard that its been 1000's of years since the last senshi were born, our generation is the newest and.....we have so many now...."
She ran her fingers over his cheek, still trying to ease that fear. What a terrible thing for him to exprience, to remember. His planet didn't sound...
"You don't have too, shh, Hydrus." She cradled his face in her hands and cooed at him, "You don't have to go back, you never do." She pursued her lips, "There is a way, that you don't have to remember. If you want too. If you want to be free?" She tilted her head.

"How?" he asked her, though his mind quickly filled in the answer to that. Some time before, she'd mentioned the Dark Mirror Court to him, that night when he'd found her crying. It was a darkness of another kind; no less dangerous, but perhaps less blood thirsty. It was something that had crossed Hydrus' mind briefly at the time.
He needed to experience his side of the war, after all, first. Make an educated decision on the matter.
"You mean... join you?" he continued, voice wavering slightly. It was such a tempting option, so tempting and so just at his fingertips. If he said yes, could he be free of his world? Tonight? did he want to give up on it so easily, and cut off a part of him like that?
"... Does it hurt? Becoming like you?" His voice was soft, but the fear in his eyes changed into one of determination and he slowly stilled. Even if it did... it wouldn't match the agony his world gave him.

"That is an option. yes." She brushed his cheek. "It doesn't hurt, it's only a second. You step into a mirror and you step out as a Dark mirror senshi. The more willing you are, the less you lose?" She laughed a little.
"Or, if you are unhappy with the memories, if you never want them again, there is corruption into the negas. I would never offer it, but..." She closed her eyes, "It would take every last memory you have, and you would be a new person. I don't want to lose you that way, but if your homeworld is that scary, and if order treats you not very well...."
She pursued her lips. "Whatever path you take, I want you to know that I will be here and there for you. I will always watch out for you. I care about you." She nodded, "I care so much about you, and I don't want to lose you."

He thought about it for a moment. While his world frightened him, the memories... did not. A jarring aspect of the whole thing, certainly (no one expects to relive a past life after all) but not frightening. It was almost comforting the previous Hydrus was just as terrified of water as he was. Still an incredibly vile thing to do, cosmos, but comforting if nothing else.
"The memories are... startling. Not expected, but I do not fear them. Just the large expanse of water of unfathomable depth!" He attempted to add a joking tone to his voice, finding it fought off the fear if he didn't dwell on it. "I would... rather not loose myself, either. I quite like who I am, hydrophobia notwithstanding."
Hydrus smiled down at her and embraced her, hugging her tightly. Mintaka was like a sibling to him, one that he cherished deeply. He kissed her head, in that brotherly way, and chuckled softly.
"You shall not lose me, Mintaka. And thank you, for being here for me. I greatly appreciate it."

"It's okay to be scared of something." She pet at him, cooing sounds and resting against him as he hugged her.
"I will always be in reach for you." She teased, "If you need me for anything."
