"How many of these creepy ******** are lurking in the fog?" Harrison asked, as a shadow with his height and his walk swaggered towards them.
"Hope he's not...looking for someone," Harrison said, a little nervously.

"Too many." Rep said, and tried not to look directly at the shadow, completely and utterly unnerved by the idea of hurting another Harrison and feeling as if the choker about his neck was even tighter than it was usually.

The fact it wasn't aggressive made it even worse to deal with, Rep found it easier to mirror back anger at things that were actually angry. Every swing was almost painful to him and he could feel Tracey recoil in his thoughts.

Harrison took the defending against his other self far less personal. Not that he liked dying. It was easier playing against his face to relate with. With Rep, it was like...well, things always got topsy-turvy, with who was who and what was what.
"We'll send him along," Harrison said grimly. "To wherever the other one went. "

As horrible as this was, it seemed to soothe Rep just a little. That he could deal with, keeping them together was ok, keeping them together was the way things were really meant to be.

The shadow Harrison flinched, and suddenly did become aggressive, fighting tooth and nail to get to both of them.
....That was also sort of familiar.

"I remember us being-" Harrison faltered, then said it under his breath, "horses too. But...as for Blood..."
Harrison had a sort of far away look in his eye.
"Felt like we were them for a long, longass time. I still feel..." he gripped B0nez's blade. "Too human, sometimes."

Rep remembered the horsemen too with an uncomfortable stirring and for a moment felt a hell of a lot older than he actually was."It was a long, long ******** time. I felt older after it, I still ******** do. I saw a lot of s**t. I don't know if I'm the /same/ as I was, you know."
There was an additional edge of brutality in the way he struck out at the other Harrison, the thought that it was an unnatural creature, one without blood, without ties to the real, the organic spurring him onwards.

"I - he was never very flashy. In comparison to the other ones. He was more- it was just him and the armor."
Duty had been tired, and older than Harrison, greyer, his face not fresh and young and his suit of armor rusted and dented. He had been smaller than the other Ancients. There were no other shifting, more impressive forms. Just him. Just the suit.
But he had been able to stand firm under long, terrible, and massive assaults. Even though the armor looked used, it never gave way. And He had always repaid his debts.
"Jordan must have lived a thousand years like that too. Do you think it changed things?"

Rep on the other hand remembered how it felt to be something else, something old but of a shifting intangible form. He remembered all the complexities of being an ancient of something which could not truly reproduce, something that carried war in its lymphocytes, something which was integral to everything. He remembered abstract things that tangled up his dreams at night sometimes and left him jarred awake with nightmares of proteins starved of oxygen or misshapen and useless, things which should not have made sense to him.
There was something cold and distant in his eyes also as he remembered, but at the same time, there was a ferocity aimed at a target which wasn't the Harrison in front of him.
"I remember the armor, I remember the determination." It had been simple and neat, so different from the slippery mess of tubes, veins and arteries that he'd known, all teeth and ancient desperate grabbing for the last ******** heartbeat.
"It's all so ..weird. I think I find that the weirdest. And I don't know, Jordan doesn't talk about it, I mean we don't really talk about it much either."
