Staring at the dead-like body, resting so peacefully on the ground, Verusha took this time to look the human up and down. Pretty face, with some interesting outfit choice. A doctor maybe? Kneeling down, she let a hand reach out to curiously fiddle with some of the unconscious beings hair. Pretty, and soft. Super long too.
Cannon was sniffing vigorously at the laying body, inspecting every inch he could, brows remaining firmly furrowed with displeasure. When the body didn't react to his investigation, he gave a sharp snort and trotted back around to Verusha's side.
"Welp. Time to get this guy back to safety, like that elf asked." she sighed, reaching out to grab the humans arms. Standing, she gave him a tug, instantly feeling her usual trained strength definitely not with her. Huh... the guy was about her height, but far more skinny than she. Didn't have the soft curves and gentle cushion she was backing. Glancing over her shoulder, she could just barely see the small portal and its dim glowing light through the fog. Well... this would be quite the drag... But she did it, dragging the sleeping man along, mindful of other bodies around, and disturbances to the ground. There was plenty of debris, too, that could very well catch onto the pristine white coat the guy was sporting. She'd heft him over her shoulder, but with her weakened state, she wasn't sure it was the best of ideas... especially if there was something lurking in the fog around here. She'd have no quick way to defend herself, besides relying on Cannon. And she hated to leave him open to attack protecting her...
So drag her victim she did, taking her time til they reached the portal. "Alright. Saving humanity, and Halloweeners, yey." she playfully muttered under her breath.

"Here we go, nice and sa--fe...?" Verusha trailed off, brows raising as she looked around at the stretch of void, destructed land before her. This... didn't look like what was promised to be at the other end of the portal... Frowning, she slowly surveyed the area around her, trying to find some sort of reasoning... coming up short. This didn't look good at all....
And things only got worse. Ground shaking, and the sound of earth tearing and shredding, Verusha whipped her head around in time to see the monstrosity peeling out of the ground. Eyes wide, she stared, Cannon taking a defensive position before her and the human, growling fiercely. But Verusha wasn't totally bullheaded... she knew when she was beat. Wincing hard at the sudden onslaught of whispers, and the vomit-inducing sensation they brought on, she bent, and hooked an arm around her victim. With her strength returning to her, the reaper hoisted him up over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and started to hustle quickly the opposite way of the creature, "Come on Cannon. I don't wanna stick around this thing." she felt so sick to her stomach it was hard to just talk! But her hound followed obediently.
The buildings that once stood ominously began to burst like fireworks, but Verusha couldn't admire them. She had to keep going. That fog began to return too, making it all the more difficult, her weakness returning. But thankfully, a long stretch of land provided something akin to the vehicles back home... those would work!
running up to the nearest one, she wasted no time setting the sleeping human into a plain, normal looking car. Getting into the drivers side,, Cannon taking to the passengers, the reaper was glad to find keys. Starting up the ignition, it hummed, giving her hope. Yes, time to get out of here! Hitting hard on the gas, she started on her way, maneuvering around the various other cars and contraptions. But the beast behind didn't seem phased, striking at the car.
She kept going, swerving, and zigzagging like they always taught you not to do in driving school. She was breaking all the rules, just to keep her head on her body, the thundering of the creature behind her making the hairs on her neck stand on end, that gut wrenching feeling strong in her stomach.
Finally, the highway yielded another path to be taken. Pulling the wheel hard, Verusha headed straight down there, kissing that big old boss goodbye!

Finding the portal once safety was somewhat in her grasps, Verusha was dragging the human towards the awaiting door, when a hand suddenly shot up and tried to pull her down. Surprised, she tried to resist, but her weakened state from the fog wasn't helping. The two tussled, her trying to pin him, while Cannon snapped at the humans heels.
What was the big idea, attack her after trying to help him. "Hey, chill out guy." she tried to insist, really not in the best shape, or situation, to be fighting someone she'd just rescued! Their fight gave pause when the portal was suddenly no longer giving off its normal glow. Verusha just stopped all together, eyes wide, as she felt the human trying to get hold of her, her arms keeping them at length. Staring blankly at the portal-less spot, she sighed heavily.
