The music beat loud, rushing through her blood stream like the alcohol she'd drunk. Three shots and a Long Island in and she felt fine... swaying and bouncing on the dance floor with the other hopefuls of the night, the party goers wanting a good time.

That's all anyone wanted, really... a little space of time when they didn't need to think about the real world or the problems there. All that mattered here was alcohol, music, and hot bodies moving to it. Tonight, Sidney wasn't the one pulling the strings with her drum kit, but rather enjoying the excellent taste of the DJ spinning at La Belle. It was her first time at this particular club, but it was going well so far. She was feeling the music and the unwatered drinks. Getting an eye full of the sexy bods while she took her time picking out one to take home when the party was over.

Light beams swept the dance floor in flashes of red and green before the strobe began to pulse, freeze framing the shifting bodies in flashes of light. Arms stretched above her head, Sid swung her hips, the hem of her black skirt flirting around her fish-net thighs. A candy skull decorated the front of her mid-riff baring shirt and it glowed in the black-light, matching the plastic piercings she'd exchanged her metal ones for and the little bits of face paint she'd decorated her eyes with.

Bright Magenta eyes swept the floor, dragging across hips and chests and the curves of shoulders... They caught on a lean body with rich red-brown hair and drifted down his back, lingering on his a** for a long, considering moment. Not bad, not bad...

Their night had started out at home. BJ and Ducky paid for the dope. Jack paid for the rum. Vanessa had put on a low-cut tanktop, and then let all three of them suck shots of tequila out of the neckline. It was the furthest any of them had gotten with her- not for lack of trying, and Jack was sure that he could have, if he'd really wanted to, but Ducky was a little bit in love with her and Jack was a better friend than that.

Just barely a better friend than that.

"Oh don't you dare look back.
Just keep your eyes on me."
I said, "You're holding back,"

Jack wasn't sure how they'd gotten to the bar. He no longer knew nor cared what his roommates were up to, or whether or not they got home alright. They were all adults. The night was young, and everyone swaying under the lights at La Belle was so attractive that Jack felt his blood spike with something other than alcohol. He took a swig of his drink, turned on the spot, and cocked an eyebrow at the little sparkle star who was -if he was not mistaken, and Jack knew that he was almost never wrong about these things- looking his way.

She said, "Shut up and dance with me!"
This woman is my destiny
She said, "Ooh-ooh-hoo,
Shut up and dance with me."

His wide mouth split into a handsome grin, eyes shining with more than a hint of mischief. Jack pointed at Sid, and then at himself, mouthed the words, 'are you looking at my bum?' because the music was loud and it was impolite to shout. Especially at pretty girls.

Sid was, unabashedly, staring at a nice a** until the owner turned around. Then she was staring at his crotch and for a moment her eyes lingered before they swept upwards and she caught his attention on her, watching her back.

Oops... It looked like he'd caught her staring, but he seemed to enjoy the attention more than not, because he was grinning with white teeth. His lips moved as she watched and she sort of made out what he said... something about his butt, which she could infer the rest from.

Well, this looked promising. She grinned, unrepentant, as she dropped her hands and spread them, palm up.

'Guilty.' She mouthed back, though it was hard to tell if he'd be able to understand it. Hopefully the gesture was enough, though she wouldn't mind needing to get a little closer to make herself heard over the music... But there was no need to rush things. Things like this were always something of a little game, seeing what would come from a little back and forth. So she smiled as she turned sideways to him, her hands running palms flat down her bare stomach and then smoothing around her thighs and up to her swinging hips. Pink eyes watched him from the corner, heavily winged out with eye-liner and thick with false lashes.

Would he come say hello? Dance with her? Go back to whatever or whomever he was with? She looked forward to seeing.

We were victims of the night
The chemical, physical, kryptonite

He followed her hands with his eyes, the smile on his face flickering into a smirk as she touched herself- drawing attention first to the piercing in her navel, and then the slenderness of her frame, decked out in fish-net tights and a flirty little pleated skirt that made something tighten in Jack's throat. He was aware of the way she watched him, understanding that this was an invitation. Of sorts.

Helpless to the bass and the fading light

Only a fool would have walked away from her then. Jack had had a lot of names flung at him since the onset of puberty. Fool was not one of them.

Oh we were bound to get together
Bound to get together

He was dressed fashionably, in a simple pair of jeans and grey blazer with a white button up underneath. It was hot under the lights in his jacket, surrounded by all of the other sweating bodies, but Jack had learned a long time ago that it was always better to wear one than to go without. Ladies often got cold in the taxi on the way back to his place, or theirs, and Jack was pretty sure that there were few things in the world more tragic than a chilled woman.

He finished off his drink with a flourish, interrupted a couple dancing next to him by tapping the gentleman on the shoulder. The other man stared back, obviously displeased, but curious. Jack offered him the beer bottle. He took it without thinking.

"Thanks," Jack said, grinning wide, leaving him with his date and the empty bottle so that he could tend to the little sparkle star who'd caught his eye.

She took my arm
I don't know how it happened

He approached Sid from the side, took up the space behind her with a confidence that he felt deep in his bones. Years of drama and participating in musicals meant that Jack was a practiced dancer. He knew how to move his hips, and was pleased by the way they fit behind hers. He did not press too close- was careful not to touch her, not yet. But he was there, shoulders broad, chest lean and firm.

We took the floor and she said
Oh don't you dare look back

"Hey," Jack said, lips hovering a friendly distance above her ear. His hands came up to ghost along her forearms, palms gliding under hers. He twined their fingers together, guided her arms to his neck. "My name is Michael."

Just keep your eyes on me
I said you're holding back
She said shut up and dance with me

Sid's hips swung side to side, enjoying the way it made her skirt swish around her thighs. Her lashes shadowed her eyes, but she was watching the hottie she had been eyeing through them as the wheels turned in his head. He must have come to a good conclusion, because he was foisting his bottle off on someone. She grinned at the confused look on the guy's face and ran her hands through her hair, fluffing it up in a playful motion. Poor dude... He had no idea what was going on. It was hilarious!

The stranger made his way closer, relieved of his empty bottle, and Sid turned her gaze away from him, letting him sneak up on her while she fell into her dancing and let the music flow through her. It sped up the beat of her heart, warming her skin until she felt the feather stroke of fingers down her arms. Sidney's eyes cracked open as she grinned, letting him catch her blue nail-polished fingers in his. It was an unusual approach, but she found she liked it... It lifted her arms up, letting her body arch in a pretty way as his voice came from the air above and behind her ear. He had a deliciously deep voice and she could just imagine the vibration of it under her hands.

"Mmm..." She hummed as she shifted back, closing the distance between them till she could feel the warmth of his chest against her back. "Hello Handsome!"

A rough chuckle rolled from her throat and she moved her hips backwards, rocking into him in rhythm to the music. "Call me Chou. Didju wanna dance?"

This woman is my destiny
She said oh oh oh
Shut up and dance with me
A backless dress and some beat up sneaks
My disco tec Juliet teenage dream

"Hi, Chou."

Jack's lips twitched into a lopsided smile when Sidney backed her hips up into his. He did not need to answer her question with words. She was a vision of quirk and confidence in front of him, hips rolling to the beat of the music. His hands smoothed down the length of her forearms, touch feather-light.

I felt it in my chest as she looked at me
I knew we were bound to be together
Bound to be together

He found her hips with his hands. Held on, grip almost tender. Jack was an excitable man, and he was often impatient, but never when it came to moments like this. They were in public. It was just a dance. And Jack knew better than to push too far too soon. He pressed close- made sure that Sidney could feel him behind her, and worked to match the rhythm that she set.

"You have the coolest ******** hair," he rumbled next to her ear.

Fingers released from his hold found the back of his neck and slid upwards to work their way into the brown curls of his hair along his nape as he stroked her. His grip shifted to her hips and she rocked against it purposefully, just to feel the hold and the body that was pressed up behind her now. He was warm, but that wasn't surprising. He had a jacket, he'd been dancing, it was a club. She enjoyed it, so often cold herself.

The words that dropped into her ear drew out a rich ripple of laughter and Sid stroked her fingers over his scalp, her head half turned to angle him a look over her shoulder and upwards. He was tall, but she enjoyed that. It was fun when her partner was bigger than she was. It added a new dimension to things you din't get to enjoy with someone your size. Not that she got to enjoy that all to often, with so many tall people around. Even Rob was taller than she was, and he was kinda short, for a guy.

"Thanks! Shampoo, rinse, repeat, you know?" She teased, perfectly aware the oddity of full-head hair color, let alone in a six color gradient. It was deliberate, that strangeness. It drew attention, made her stand out, and really? She just liked looking at it, seeing the colors vibrate in her vision. "Is this your first time here, or are you a regular? I'm kind of new to town, just testing out the club scene. You like it here?"

I'd like it better back at my place. Or your place. Or the back seat of your car. Or the bathroom in the back...

She took my arm,
I don't know how it happened.
We took the floor and she said

The conversation was unexpected, but not unwelcome. Jack was smirking behind Sidney, hands firm on her hips. His skin tingled in the wake of her roaming fingers.

"Nah, babe," he said, taking care with his voice at her ear. Jack spoke low and deep and never too loudly. "Destiny City born and raised."

His mother was a semi-truck driver. His father a hitchhiker that she'd picked up one night, and then dropped off on the other side of town. She had never known his name, and had not hidden that fact from Jack. He considered himself a product of a whirlwind romance. Knew that there had probably been open bags of cheetos on his mother's dashboard.

Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me.
I said you're holding back,

When it came to the men and the women that he loved, Jack was not a particular man. He was a hedonist to the core; as likely to try picking up a little sparkle star like Sidney as he was to go home with somebody who looked like Dave Grohl.

"The club is nice..." he said, voice husky, hands leaving Sidney's hips to smooth along her thighs. She was so tiny compared to him- it filled Jack with a sense of his own strength, and he could not help being just a little bit thrilled by that. "... I'd like it better back at my place."

She said shut up and dance with me!
This woman is my destiny
She said oh oh oh
Shut up and dance with me

He said he was a local and it drew a pleased sound from Sidney as she dipped and rocked her hips, the way her body arched exposing even more of her stomach and the lower curves of her ribs. Locals were good people to know. They in turn knew the city and usually the best places to party and have some fun. Sidney had never really been a 'local', not with her itchy feet and dissatisfaction with staying in one place too long, but she could certainly appreciate having local friends.

It was funny how he called her 'Babe'... like some kinda tall, blonde beach bunny, or his live-in girlfriend. She was about as far from 'Babe' as you could get, but it made her smile anyway.

Her head tilted to the side as he stroked his hands down her legs and abruptly she pulled away, dropping her arms and her fingers from his hair. She didn't go far though, merely turning in place so she could face him and press front to front now. It let him see her smiling lips as she slid her fingers down his stomach and worked them into the waistband of his pants to secure a hold.

"Buy me a drink." She said as she pushed up onto her toes to put her lips a few inches closer to his ear, the side effect being the 'unintentional' way her chest brushed up his. "You can tell me what makes your place so nice. Maybe I'll decide you should give me a tour."

Sid laughed as she stepped back then, using her grip on his pants to pull him towards the bar and out of the press of the crowd. Its all a game, Handsome... you have to make me want it, and I have to at least pretend like I'm hard to get.

She wondered if he had an apartment or a house. Would they get handsy in the elevator? Did he have room mates? Would she need to bury her face in his pillow to keep from alerting everyone in the complex how good she felt? It was fun to imagine.

Nothing about this was new or strange to Jack, who did not so much as blink when Sidney redirected his suggestion towards the bar. He understood the power of patience. Knew even better that he was good at getting his way. If Sidney happened to decide she disliked the sound of his home, then that would be fine. No skin off his back.

But he was feeling pretty confident about his odds, considering she had her fingers in the waistband of his pants and seemed about as likely to let him go as he was to not buy her that drink.

"Well..." he started, lips twitching at the corners, "... I've got this great view from my bedroom window."

Jack haled the bartender with a wave of his hand. The woman nodded at him, busily pouring drinks for the line of patrons already there. His free hand lingered near the small of Sidney's back- and then shifted to the counter, arm solid around the slight frame of her shoulders, when a clumsy drunk knocked her into his side.

The drunk proceeded both to slur loudly and spill his beer all over the floor. Jack switched places with Sidney so casually it could have been coincidental.

He smiled down at her, broad back to the man beside him.

"I have this roommate who makes the most amazing chocolate chip cookies-

"What can I get you kids?" The bartender gestured at Sidney and Jack with her chin, slender hands ready to take their orders.

"Fuzzy n****e for me," Jack said. He cocked an eyebrow at Sidney. Bit his lip. There was a playful light in his brown eyes.

Sidney grinned up at him as they wove their way out of the press, her grip on his pants firm until they got to the bar. Even then, she left them tucked into his belt in a comfortable, casual way.

"A great view is always a plus, though I don't normally spend my time staring out a window." Unless I'm pressed face first into it. Sid chuckled as she leaned into the tall wood surface, feeling it press into her ribs until someone stumbled into her from behind and shoved her towards her new companion. With her slight frame, she could have been taken right off her feet by the much larger drunk, but it was her good luck to simply fetch up against the lean body she'd been eyeing with little more than a bit of soreness from where an elbow had dug into her shoulder blades.

Sid frowned and would have turned to give the big idiot a good jab somewhere soft and vulnerable, but Michael came smoothly to her rescue, sliding himself between her and the offending party. The frown eased back into an impish look angled up through her heavy lashes and her studded lips curled up at the corners. He had enough chivarly to care about her getting roughed up, but not enough to take the edge off of him that she felt, which was a good sign.

Her lips pursed in disappointment as he mentioned a room mate, but the bartender had arrived and it was time for those drinks. 'Fuzzy n****e' earned him a sly grin. So many drink she could reply with...

"I'd like a Screaming Orgasm." Sid said as her grin split wider, not a hint of shyness to the statement. And oh, the innuendo was delicious. "Room mate, huh? Must make it hard to really enjoy yourself when you have a pair of ears in the next room over... apartment walls are notoriously thin."

Her fingers wandered as she stayed close, walking around his waist and down over his hip.

"It's a house, actually. With a backyard big enough for a German Shepherd."

Jack was the kind of man to whom smiling came easy. He was lit up with a laidback sort of energy- not inclined to mull over the past, or the possible consequences of his actions, despite having suffered the loss of Proustite's strength as punishment for following Hematite at a time when he should not, apparently, have followed Hematite.

That was years ago, now.

And the only thing Jack had really learned, beyond the fact that it was better to be Proustite in a world where chicks like Cinnabar and Moonstone and Painite wielded pointy weapons, was that being bad felt good.

The girl he knew as Chou reminded him of himself. A little. She was fun and easy-going and as good at this game as he was.

Maybe better.

'I'd like a Screaming Orgasm.'

Jack was still chuckling when the bartender handed them their drinks. He paid without blinking over the price, took a sip from his Fuzzy n****e.

"The walls are still pretty thin, but... " he twinkled at Sidney over the lip of his glass, "... I enjoy myself just fine."

He was aware of the fingers that followed the line of his hip. Cocked an eyebrow at Sidney. Was willing to let her continue her little exploration unimpeded by his hands or his suggestions. He knew that he had pressed too soon, the first time he'd brought up his home. If Chou was as flighty as she was cute, it was better to let her play as she liked. Until the point that she agreed to leave with him, Jack knew that if he made too many wrong moves she might fly away. And, having taken in the piercings in Chou's lips and Chou's eyebrows, Jack had found himself very curious about the other places that he could not see.

"My roommates are understanding people. They've only threatened to kick me out once. "

The mention of a dog caught Sid's attention and her face lit up with new curiosity, her hand stilling on him to grip his hip instead.

"Oh, really? Do you have one?" She asked brightly as she reached for her drink. "I love dogs."

The glass sides were cool to the touch and she lifted it without hesitation to her lips. The mix of Bailey's, Kahlua and Vodka went down smoothly and she hummed as she tipped her head back, managing the whole in a few swallows. It hit her stomach hard, spreading warmth outwards in delicious ways. With her small frame there was no doubt to be a buzz in a few moments, but that had been entirely the point.

With the glass deposited back into the counter, Sid was free to lean into her new companion and use both hands to reach around him, curling fingertips into his lower back.

"Alright, You've convinced me. I'd really like to see this house of yours. Maybe see for myself how bad the walls are." She was grinning as she pressed herself against him, swinging her hips from side to side in memory of how she'd moved on the dance floor. Sid could still hear the music and it still called to her body, but the lean figure in front of her did too, and in a far louder voice. "Although fair warning, if you get another drink or two into me, I can't be held responsible for my actions. I'm a handsy drunk."

"Unfortunately, no. Ducky kind of smells like a dog though."

Jack sipped more of his drink.

"Ducky's one of my roommates," he added, as an afterthought, eyes growing steadily wider every time Chou swallowed a gulp of hers. He was as impressed as he was amused when she finished the whole drink in a matter of moments, fingers steady on his own glass, which was still half-full. His lips twitched at the corners. He was curious about what other sorts of things she could do with that pretty mouth, but kept his thoughts to himself.

'Alright, You've convinced me. I'd really like to see this house of yours.'

Her fingers were warm where they found his lower back. Jack stood very still. Enjoyed the pressure of her body against his, and the way that she moved, and the smile on her face. Chou was sweet, he'd decided. Her hair reminded him of cotton candy.

'Although fair warning, if you get another drink or two into me, I can't be held responsible for my actions.'

Yes, he was beginning to learn that. Not that he minded. On the contrary, Jack was positively delighted by the liberties that Chou took with his body. She was free touch him as much as he liked, but he thought that he would not buy her another drink. Not because he wanted their fun to stop, but because he wanted her sober.

Wanted her to be able to remember, with fondness, all of the reasons she was sore the next day.

'I'm a handsy drunk.'

"What an interesting coincidence," Jack murmured. He reached for Chou, at last- hands firm, but kind, where they found her hips. He turned her slowly towards the bar. Took up the space behind her with a confidence that he felt deep in his bones. One arm rested on the counter top, picked up his glass again. His free hand wandered- from her hip to her navel. Lingered for a moment.

"I can be pretty handsy too," he breathed, fingers playing along the waistband of her skirt.
