Yuki wasn't sure how far off from the portal he had gone, but he'd at the very least tried to travel relatively straight when the fog thickened. With that in mind, he hoped that he could easily find his way back to it without having to backtrack. While it wasn't actually far, not being able to see a foot in front of him certainly made things on the more annoying side.
He'd picked up the girl in his arms, after ensuring that her heart was indeed still beating and that she was breathing. It was easy enough to carry her, Yuki noted, thankful for that much.
This was going to be easy!

After reaching the portal with a minimal amount of navigating to it through the fog, Yuki stepped through with Hitsu still cradled safely in his arms.
As soon as he realized where they ended up, he was sure there was some sort of mistake. Or, perhaps, it had just been a concern that something else might have followed through the portal, so he just had to take her further?
With a soft, annoyed groan, Yuki took a moment to shift the human in his arms into a position more comfortable for him to walk with. A bit of awkward maneuvering, a couple of near drops and the ghost carried her on his back instead, hooking his arms under her legs and leaning forward so that he wouldn't lose her.
The skyscraper that they had arrived close to made him wonder just what had happened here, but his head began to ache too much to think on it.
Then, the ground was rumbling under his feet, making him tense and dread what could have been the cause. Yuki looked for it, saw the beast coming and felt the dread in the pit of his stomach even before the creature was close and reaching, speaking into his mind and hurting.
Yuki staggered, grimacing, his head feeling as though it wanted to split open from the inside out. He felt like he wanted to throw up. He was frozen in terror for several seconds, before those screaming, writhing tendrils were nearly within range to capture him. As soon as he remembered out to move he was running, remembering to keep a grip on the human that he was attempting to save.

He heard the vines erupting from around him before he actually realized what had happened, focused on forward and running as swiftly as he could. Even without looking back, he could feel the rumble of it running behind.
He gained on him, lashed out, hurt him.

Each time he felt the tendrils tear at him, he worried more and more than not only was he not making it out, but that if he did he may very well be carrying a corpse by the time he escaped.Quote: Yuki's HP: 35/50 Hitsu's HP: 35/50

Yuki was gasping, body aching, adrenaline fueling him the final stretch of the distance.

Yuki didn't know how he managed to outrun the creature at last, but he was suddenly aware that he wasn't being chased anymore.
His heart leapt into his throat when the girl on his back screamed directly next to one of his ears.
Before he could even drop her, which shouldn't have been hard for how much she was suddenly flailing about, something hit him upside the head so hard that his vision went dark for a split second before he hit the ground.
Yuki went down and so did she, both scrambling to right themselves with the ghost staggering and putting a hand to the growing knot on his head. What the hell did she...
He realized the answer to the question he'd not spoken aloud, when he saw the young woman brandishing a glass bottle at him. Then she was coming at him again. Holy s**t.
After trying to defend himself for several swings, shielding his aching head with his arms and suffering the consequence of those being beaten relentlessly instead, Yuki had had enough.
It was for her own good.
Awaiting another swing, Yuki took an opening to drive one of his fists into the girl's gut to drop her. He was at least kind enough to keep her from collapsing in the street, catching hold of her the moment she blacked out.
At least it was obvious to him how this one had survived so far.
Gathering her up into his arms again, feeling quite exhausted, he turned his attention toward where he needed to go.
