He had been attracted by the noise coming out of a tiny box by a human. Wrex had eagerly sniffed and clawed at it, taking it into his mouth even (and quickly spat it back out when he realized it wasn't so tasty). And how many voices it had inside! What was a human doing with this anyway? Was it because it was lonely? Well, DON'T WORRY HUMAN, HE IS AN EXCELLENT RESCUER.
Still, in spite of the urgency, the boil couldn't help but take stock of the old bag of bats wearing...Jack, how many layers was this? He nibbled through one and just saw another and another and another! Eventually he spat out the material as well and scowled.
Right. Hugging.
He spelled out his troubles to the magic box as he wound his tail around the human, and it was distressing to know that his spikes would just hurt her instead. (Not due to the harm itself, but because Wrex really, really wanted to do a good job, okay.) But it wore enough layers, right? Clearly. The insulation would keep her safe.
Well, mostly safe, he amended as some of the spikes on his tail tore a gash through the uppermost blue skin it was wearing.

Well, if he couldn't hug her...WAIT. YES HE COULD. He was in a nice body with NORMAL ARMS.
Gleefully cheering, Wrex picked the human right up and squeezed her, bouncing on his feet like an excited scareling. "CAN HUG!" he informed her proudly. Funny that it wasn't celebrating with him. Maybe humans were deep sleepers? Man, they would have been the most boring prey.
But how the Jack had they gotten so far away from the portal? He jogged right on through, already imagining the sweet sort of prizes his perfectly preformed duty would earn him.

But even someone as dense as Wrex knew something was up after he went through the portal. For one, he didn't remember Amityville having a really long rock path. For two, he definitely didn't remember the ginormous horsey thing lurking out in the city. Immediately Wrex began to snarl at it, tail thrashing as aggressive instinct took over. Daggerbacks never did know how to back down.
We will consume you and your Fear will be ours.
Though that certainly got him considering it. The boil whimpered under the weight of the words in his head (weapons? claws?? teeth and vines and thorns--)
Gnashing his teeth, he shifted on impulse. What surprised him was that it worked. Normally Amity was so restrictive about it...Sure, the human had to be dropped, but IT WAS FOR HER SAFETY OKAY HE WAS GONNA PROTECT HER.
...Hopefully.

And so began the assault of the (comparatively) tiny t-rex thing against the rather large almost-pony. It was not a particularly epic start.

But look, he was putting his heart into it for a total stranger. And his teeth. And his claws. And his tail. It had to count for something, right?

But it seemed no matter how hard he tried to chew on the vines, he wasn't doing any damage at all. What the heck kind of plant...?

But if he just tried hard enough...Yasssssss. Perseverance was key--and Daggerbacks were very, very tenacious creatures.

And then he raged harder. Brute would have been proud to see his twin rip through those vines like a real monster.
And for a moment, Wrex really thought he had made a different for his poor human.

Unfortunately for them both, it would only hold back the beast for so long. Growling, he snapped up the really bundled human in his jaws and tromped his way down the highway. He honestly didn't notice the cars until a really interesting one caught his eye.
Its rust shimmered dully like a siren call. And who knew, maybe these things moved faster? Not that he doubted himself, but Wrex was kinda tired after fighting that thing off...(Shamefully so, but at least no other Daggerback could witness it.)
He grunted something at the still asleep human and tried all of the buttons, only by luck managing to turn the key with his flimsy limbs.
(How did he even fit at that size? The world may never know.)

His eyes widened in delight when one of the thingie things made the metal thing go vrrroooooooom. Well, it wheezed and sputtered, but it was still a cool sound! Wrex echoed it excitedly as he wildly drove around, barely in control of the wheel. Good thing the straight highway meant he couldn't get lost.
Still, it was too slow to avoid getting hit by the creature. Wrex turned his head and stuck his tongue out.

--straight into a pile of the things. Whoops? Wrex rolled out (and partially over) the strange metal mount with a groan and laid on the ground for a few moments.
Okay, what were the instructions again? Get human, hug human, carry human to portal...The almost-dino rolled back onto his legs with a soft growl and shook his head to clear the daze. Uh oh, what if the human had gotten squished...?
Turns out, not so much. His human was already making a break fro it.
"Nononoono!" Wrex easily caught up in a few bounds and snapped at the back of its clothes, trying to get it to stop.
"What the hell kind of ********--!" Adelaide huffed as she tried a zigzag pattern, which actually did seem to do the trick; the large shadowy creature she'd somehow found herself with was confused with the directional shifts and seemed on the bulky side.
"NONONONO," the boil yelled at her, his clawed fet stamping the ground with more of a temper tantrum than before. And as he chased her, the nearby portal closed. "NONONONOOOOOOO--!"
