As mid-day edged to late afternoon, a fleet gray stallion cantered swiftly through the rolling plains. His ears pinned flat to his skull and coat darkened to pewter along his withers and chest, the wavering of his stride told of a long travel. Spying a body of water he began to slow his pace, easing to a trot before coming to a halt at the water's edge. Surveying his surroundings with a keen eye, he determined it was safe and then dropped his head, drinking his fill.

"Maybe here..." He thought to himself, admiring the soft call of birds and rustle of distant creatures. Small prey animals, no doubt, at ease without the presence of a predator. Safe then. Safe enough to slow down a bit, spend a little time... Find a new home, maybe.

Although he was no longer running from the shadows in his past, the stallion known as Tahir Ara hadn't precisely stopped either. It was more that, over time, he had slowed from a headlong plunge into a slow progression. He wasn't fleeing outright, but he wasn't exactly standing still either. The miles, and landscapes and lands drifted away beneath his hooves like leaves on the breeze, scattered in his wake by the wind of his passage. He was ages away from the land that was his home, lifetimes, worlds, or so it felt. But it was for the best. His herd was dead, their valley no longer peaceful, and he couldn't stand to stay there without them.

And then there were the Skinwalkers to consider.

His skin shivers at the thought, twitching and quivering as though he's been fly-stung. Snorting loudly and shaking himself from nose to tasseled tail, the half-kirin stallion shakes the idea away and picks up his pace as though he can outrun the memory. He knew there wasn't really a way to escape Skinwalkers, they were everywhere just like their prey. Still, at least he was away from where the herd had lived, away from the ones that had likely killed and feasted on his herd-mates.

'Don't think of it any longer.' He scolded himself. 'Think of something else, become someone else, if you must. There is no point dwelling in the sadness or losing yourself to bitterness.'

Thirst quenched he pawed at the edge of the lake, splashing water over himself to help cool down. Then, without a destination or plan in mind, he picked up an easy walk, meandering toward the distant cover of trees and simply enjoying what was left of the afternoon. Distant gray clouds sang of incoming rain, which he found himself looking forward to for the first time in a long while. He had always loved storms, before his herd had...

"Maybe here won't be so bad..."

User ImagePacing through the woods the Soquili mare known as Alderfly couldn't help but hear all the cautionary words her family liked to give her as soon as they realized she intended to wander. With each clip of her hooves on the ground she heard a different voice, the four stallions that loved her so dearly chiming in to make sure she returned to the herd lands safe. She had no idea how her sister Firefly, who was mate to one, mother to the next, and grandmother or great-grandmother to the others could stand it. Maybe because she was so fierce, constantly stood in a place of power? Allie had tried to emulate Firefly, though it came through in her own (stubborn) way. Still, it didn't seem to work with the boys. Every time it was like it was the first time, like she had no sense to watch out for dangerous strangers... Like she was a filly again.

'Take care, Allie.'

'Be safe, Allie.'

'Remember to watch out for Skinwalker and Kalona, Allie.'

For all that the Great Kalona Herd had disbanded long before she was born and they were now little more than a bedtime story, Alderfly felt like her family still lived warily in their shadow. In spite of her free-spirit and independent nature, the stallions that were her brother in law, nephew, great nephew and so on were still terribly protective. Noble, self-sacrificing, worry-wort charmers. She couldn't even be mad about it, just quietly frustrated at all their hovering. It was sweet and she understood she was the baby in their eyes, but still, she wanted to have a life. She was grown up now and she deserved it. And they certainly didn't talk to Firefly that way, they knew she could handle herself.

So why was Allie any different?

Besides, they had no right to talk! From what she understood -and by their own admissions- they had been running off when they were foals just the same as she did! And she certainly hadn't gotten into half the trouble that Imrikalto told her stories about on full-moon nights. She was sure Ashrialto had even bigger tales to tell, and Delri was suspiciously quiet and refused to meet anyone's eye when such things were said. A guilty conscience, she was sure of it.

Allie knew he had someone he snuck off regularly to see. A dangerous lover, she was willing to bet. Even a dangerous friend, but she was positive about the dangerous part. She'd even tried to follow him once or twice to get a better idea, or some sort of proof, but with his wings it was impossible to follow him and find out for sure. But she would figure it out, somehow.

Regardless, if they all wandered far and wide -and they did, Delri had wings for heaven's sake!- then why couldn't she? They had no satisfactory reason, and were at least gentlemanly enough not to say it was because she was a girl. So that was something.

"Not much." She grumbled, kicking at a small stone. "But something."

'Running away from your problems never solved anything, it's foolish to think that might change now...'

He didn't like how much sense that voice made, so he shook it off and upped his pace. 'And why are you running away, anyhow? You didn't harm them... You were just away when they were attacked. If you'd known, maybe you'd have been there and gotten yourself killed. Maybe you would have told them you had a bad feeling, and saved more than managed it on their own... There's no point in wondering 'what if' now... It's too late for that.'

The half-kirin stallion sighed to himself as his thoughts chased each other round in circles. A long run had tired them out, but a quick break was all it took to make them chime in again. Back and forth, back and forth, arguing about what he should or shouldn't have done. He was truly heartily sick of it, but somewhat at a loss as to what to do to make it stop.

'Make a new friend, give yourself someone to talk to besides yourself.' Advised a voice that reminded him too much of his eldest sister. 'I keep telling you that you're not that interesting anyway, Tahi. Go learn about a stranger for a little while.'

An early afternoon shower slowed his progress some, though Tahir was no longer in any great hurry to be anywhere. Standing under the tree and focusing keenly on the sound of rain had at least managed to silence the voices that kept telling him he was on the wrong path. At this point he was willing to listen, if it meant they would shut up. He had no destination in mind, his only goal to outrun the howling of the spirits he imagined were his kin.... And he wasn't sure he'd ever accomplish that. Give the likelihood, perhaps it would be better to find a place soothing, a place dear enough to his soul that the restlessness in him eased...

Standing beneath the trees and watching the rain sweep across the meadow, Tahir had to admit he was growing fond of the land through which he traveled. He had no name for it, no notion of when it had begun or where it might end. At this point the only one he had spoken to had been a wisp of a flutter who longed to speak with spirits. He wasn't sure he could take much -or indeed, any- stock in what she said, given her unique point of view. Perhaps he'd try his hoof at conversation, speak to the next individual he managed to cross paths with.

"Wouldn't that shock the spots right off the herd." He mused aloud, amused in a bitter sort of way. He could almost hear his sisters crooning and insisting on the next stranger being a mare, just because they knew how awkward he could be.

Turning at the sound of a skittering stone, Tahir froze at the sight of a mare stepping around the corner. He wasn't entirely sure he imagined the laughter on the breeze, but he was sure it hadn't come from her.

'Gotcha!'

User Image'Of course, you know that isn't it.' Pointed out a helpful section of her brain. 'You know they aren't against you wandering because they think less of you, and they certainly aren't doing it just because you're a girl. They're honestly worried, of course... Because they are family and they love you. It's their job to worry, so you can't really blame them for it.'

She sighed loudly into the still air. "Even if I really, really want to blame them for it... I can't, because they do mean well."

'But just one little journey on my own! One harmless thing, a day or two! Where' the harm?' Part of her heart wondered, but the rest answered in tones that once again resembled the stallions she loved so dearly.

'Think of the Kalona!'

'What about Skinwalkers?'

'You've never been away from home, where would you go? How would you find your way back?'

'Do you know how to avoid all of the dangerous plants and obstacles you migth encounter? What if something goes wrong? None of us would be around... Then what would you do?'

Thoughts still spinning with the four protesting voices of her family and all of the possible reasons they would give to keep her safe and bored at home, Allie wandered along. Now and again she stop, cropping a mouthful of grass or admiring the sway of a wildflower in the wind. Her tail flicked back and forth from time to time, the heavy silken strands whispering against the grass. All in all her temper was ebbing, fading away as she escaped the family's usual territory and wandered in someplace new.

She knew that part of her restless spirit was merly a trait of the family, fueled by their protective nature and reluctance to let her go too far. Still, it was hard to keep seeing their side of things when they went on about how unwise it was to want to travel after doing the exact same thing in their youth.

"Maybe I should just go." She mused, tilting her head thoughtfully before resuming her wandering stride. "Send a message with Akaria so they would know I was ok, or stop at one of the allied families and send a message with one of their messenger birds. By the time it reaches home, even Delri wouldn't be able to catch up with me in a day, maybe I could actually make it to the sea before they knew what I was up to."

She stopped speaking a moment later, aware of eyes on her, and turned to face the stranger that she had just come upon. "Oh, sorry.. It was, I mean.. The corner was a bit of a blind turn, forgive me for disturbing you."

'My, that was certainly very eloquent of you. How about you try that again?' Snorted an annoying voice in the back of her mind. Shaking it and the worrying tones of her family out of her focus, the young mare attempted a soft smile. 'Who needs to wonder about overprotective relatives with guilty expressions when you could be making a new friend instead?'

Clearing her throat, she bobbed her head in a quick nod. "Good afternoon, my name is Alderfly and I am sorry if I disturbed you."

With his herd dead or scattered, Tahir Ara had long ago grown comfortable with the occasional discussions he imagined in their voices. Sometimes it was almost as if they were standing there beside him; or in the case of his sisters: following and heckling him endlessly. He was sure it was just because he missed them so much, every day, and it was the only way he knew to keep their memories alive.

Some days it even helped, when it didn't make his heart ache worse with how much he missed having them around. He'd let his siblings spend the rest of eternity jeering if it could bring them back. But nothing could now, so he'd just content himself with memories.

Having escaped the surrounding lands and fleeing to places unknown, he knew there would be know allied herd hear that would understand how much his sisters could make him laugh... or how he missed his parents wisdom, and the Elders of the Herd's freely-given Guidance. Certainly they could understand in the abstract sense, in the sense that all kindred spirits have when they had lost someone. But there was no one around him know that had known his family, that knew the exact bell-like tone of his little sister's laughter, or how his nieces would plead in their sweetest tones for just one more bedtime story from Uncle Tahir.

He didn't want to dwell on it, but that was easier thought than done.

Still, at the sudden sound of a stone skittering and pinging off of other rocks, the gray stallion froze. It gave him time to growl at the memory of his giggling siblings, quietly complaining because he just felt like they'd had a hand in making this reality.

The stranger cleared her throat and gave a gentle nod, and with the lack of paws and fangs and claws Tahir guessed she was friendly (and harmless) enough. Her voice was low and a little soft, hesitant, which just confirmed that the traces of laughter on the wind were his memory playing tricks on him.

"Good afternoon Alderfly, and I assure you that you did nothing of the kind. I am merely a wanderer in a strange land, and was a little lost in thought without a care for where I was going. I thank you for your timely appearance, and hope I in turn am not disturbing you."

He returned her nod hesitantly, and could almost swear the sudden breeze that stirred past him felt like a near-miss kick from his eldest sister. "My name is Tahir Ara, I apologize for my poor manners... I fear that I have become somewhat careless... That is to say, I was distracted and now appear to be rather lost."

Giving a self-deprecating laugh, he shyly ducked his head. "You... Wouldn't be able to help me out by chance, would you?"

User ImageFor all that she'd never felt the need to run from her family or herd -true enough they drove her crazy, but that didn't mean she'd actually flee from them- she could certainly recognize the look in the stranger's eyes. Here was one that had fled his home, for reasons she could not guess but knew at once they were dark and awful. His gaze was haunted and distant, fear a driving force, fear of some unknown shadow at his back. For all that he was well-spoken and did not seem terrified, there was sorrow in him the likes of which she had no hope of soothing. But friendship she could offer him, and a willing ear and a wandering heart. Hopefully she could point him in the right direction, or at least help him alter his course in some way that one day he might quit running.

"I am glad to hear that, at least." She returned with a smile. "It is a nice enough day, and I would hate to have the weight of ruining it for you fall on my shoulders."

His introduction and apology were more along the lines of manners that her family had taught her, and without realizing it she began to relax immediately. Here was someone from a proper herd, able to make polite conversation and offering no real threat to her. It would be a pleasure then to help him find his way to wherever he was going, and perhaps if she saw what it was that chased him she could direct it entirely elsewhere. There was enough of a prank in that to amuse her, even as she delighted in the chance to make a positive difference.

"With as wide as my family wanders, much of this land and its landmarks is known to me in some fashion." She returned with a grin, unwilling to sulk about the lack of true exploration. Her family's spoken knowledge was a practical enough tool, good enough to guide a stranger. "I am sorry to hear of your troubles, but if you can advise me whence you are going or what it is that you seek, I will be happy to help you determine your direction."

Alderfly hesitated a moment, and then gave a mental shrug. "Even telling me where you've come from might help me direct you, if it is a certain craft or trade that you seek on behalf of that which lies behind you?"

Now he could decide how much he wanted to tell her of his past, or no. It didn't really matter either way, but it felt important that the choice be presented.

Tahir was well-aware that there was a very strong chance his every thought was clearly visible in his eyes. While he'd learned to keep most things off his face -self preservation will do that when you have vengeful older sisters- his eyes still had the tendency to give him away. Add to the fact that there was only so much you could do to hide something you felt cut you to your very soul, and well he was less than surprised to see the mare's expression soften kindly. It wasn't a pitying kindness though, more like an understanding one. Like she could see that he was hurt, that he didn't want to discuss it, but she wouldn't just ignore it. She'd acknowledge it was there, and then they could move on.

He rather liked the approach, truth be told. Pretending not to hurt seemed an insult to his relatives, and her blithely ignoring it would be somewhat of a cheap shot to his loss. In this way they both acknowledged there was something unsaid, and moved on to address the things they could in fact change. And just like that, some of the tension in his back began to unwind, allowing him to relax.

He even managed to laugh and shake his head. "I would not dream of blaming you for ruining my day. If anything, it would by my own fault, for crossing paths with a lovely lady that is willing to help me find my way seems twice a blessing. How could I place any fault in you then? It would be rude and most unintelligent of me. What if you deiced to get your revenge by leading me even further astray?"

Tahir spared a moment to give her a sorrowful look, hoping she would not choose to take such a path, and then winked. "If I am polite, as you deserve, hopefully I will do nothing to earn your ire. Then I am sure you will be far more inclined to help me, and I will be much more confident in the result!"

The question of where he was headed, or where he was from, was a rather tricky one. Knowing one was lost and knowing one's destination were something of entirely different subjects, at least in this case. Tahir didn't have a destination in mind, he just rather hoped he'd know it when he saw it. And honestly, what could he say about his home?

"I am from a small, peaceful herd many days travel from this." He answered, politely vague. "They have little need for trade or travel, but I myself found it necessary to leave home. I might join in with a wandering group, but as of now I have just been enjoying the land itself. I wonder if there is anywhere you might know of where tradesman gather, or a market place of a sort? It would be nice to see some wares and art, things made of this land. Do you know where I might find such a display?"

User ImageAllie couldn't help but laugh at his comments, amusement bubbling over her as he hastily denied her being at fault for a darkening of his day. He seemed an amusing sort of companion, for all that there was a certain sorrow to him. Perhaps once it lifted they could be friends in truth, if the fates and his hooves decied that he should remain in this land so long.

"I assure you that I am no trickster spirit, to take pleasure in leading those lost astray. Likewise I am not malicious in my own right, and do not think it would be amusing to make you more lost than you already are. As you have indicated you are somewhat confused, I think I should lend my services to improve your circumstances rather than to destroy them." Shifting lightly on her hooves and reveling in the warm sun dappling down on her, Allie fixed laughing eyes on the stallion.

"So then, you seek a gathering of craft and trade. That is not so hard to find, I should think. Though I must ask, do you require wares that are of a goods nature? Made wares such as blankets, candles, lanterns, jewelry and adornments, even weapons and tools for those with limbs to weild them. Or do you prefer edible goods, harvested crops and feed, travel rations for the predatory types, teas and blends for poultices or beverages? There are several smaller gatherings that may host one or the other or even a small selection of either... But we must travel a bit for the larger ones that carry a wider range of both."

She hesitated a moment, considering. "A grand tea event occurred not long ago in the gardens, and there is a traveling Faire with a wide array of wares, vendors, and a bevy of entertainments. They move about fairly regularly for determined cycle, then retreat home to resupply before beginning another circuit. If a wide array of exotic goods are your aim, I think they would be best. You can catch one of their last engagements before they return home, and if they do not have what you seek we may wonder some of the other markets and festivals as you like."

“Well, thank goodness for that.” If he had to encounter a stranger in his travels, Tahir Ara considered himself most fortunate that it was this mare, this lady Alderfly. She had a generous spirit and a bright one, her amusement at his light jokes suffusing him with a quiet pleasure. Perhaps he could make a friend indeed, and a new life would not all be tarnished by the shadows and the blood that darkened his past.

"I will have you know I am quite glad you are not a trickster spirit, though I think if you were your aims would be better served in the twists and twines of deep woods or swamp. Then again, if your prey were already so deep within such domains, there would be no great challenge in ensuring they were further lost. Perhaps instead it is more fun to find them on a wrong turn and then lead them merrily into the woods." Tahir shrugged, flicking his tail. "I cannot know, for I am not such a spirit. Regardless, I am glad to hear such entertainments are not of interest to you. I also thank you for your willingness to show me around as well as to help me in my search of an artisans' gathering or marketplace."

Listening to her listing the possible goods and wares, Tahir flicked his ears and considered. At the moment there was no herd to bring tales of trade home too, but there were some goods he would not mind gathering for himself and perhaps the benefit of friends. While Tahir would only have use for some of the food stores she described and a few of the wares and tools, the possibility of the widest selection of all such things was infinitely more intriguing than a small market. Besides, the mention of the entertainers, of battles and dancers and song and fine objects of art and skill were all riveting indeed.

"A small number of the wares would be of personal requirement to me, but there are other items that can be bought for the sheer pleasure or enjoyment of them. Likewise, they may also be of use to friends or herd mates, though we do not yet know..." Tahir mused, considering the mare for a moment. "I am sorry to have missed the recent event in the garden, but if you can find it in your heart to lead me to the Faire you speak of, I would much appreciate it. I imagine their performances would be highly diverting, and if you would permit me the pleasure of your company I would like very much to have someone to share it with."

Shifting nervously from hoof to hoof, he pondered things for a moment, then gave her a shy bow of his head. "Of course, that is assuming you do not have a much better offer waiting for you.. Perhaps just around the corner? I would hate to intrude on such a thing."

User Image "If I were a trickster spirit, I would probably have the sense to ply my trade a hair closer to the swamp or deeper in the woods. Not so far that I would have to work to find prey, but out in the wide open I'd probably have little luck in achieving my goals." Alderfly mused, considering the stallion with amusement. "You make fine points about luring strangers into the woods and leading them on a merry chase. Still, as I am not such a spirit either I am afraid I must agree with you. It would be somewhat pointless to speculate as to such a thing, since we have little experience in the matter."

The idea of spending time showing a stranger the Faire was an appealing one. She'd not had the chance to experience it in depth herself, watching from the sidelines instead. As far as she knew, some of her relatives themselves had visited during the early days of set up, offering their aid when it seemed needed. Now that thing were in full swing, she reveled in the chance to visit again, and such delights were more pleasant when shared with a companion.

Of course, the next moment he was backtracking, looking shy as he mentioned not wanting to intrude if there was someone waiting for. The fact that he was asking made her give a soft laugh, tossing her head and shaking her mane out of her eyes. "You're very kind to think such a thing; but there are no demands on my time today. As such, you are intruding on nothing. It would be a pleasure to escort you to the Faire and help you shop the wares."

She considered for a moment, then gave a shrug. "Besides, if you do decided to trade or shop, I can certainly help you carry your purchases away. My herd lands are not far from here, and we could offer you a home while you are visiting as well. The Faire and Festival will go on for some days, and I imagine there will be different things offered as time progresses. It just makes sense if you stick around, Tahir."

Tahir grinned, amused at the tone of their conversation as well as the sharp wit the mare displayed. There was a certain lightness in the teasing, and it stirred a sort of kinship he hadn’t expected. In some ways, Alderfly reminded him of someone he had known all of his life, and he had no trouble imagining her fitting in well with the rest of the Rainshadow Band. Still, Rainshadow was gone, and there was no point in thinking of how well his new friend would have fit among the old. They were all dead, dead or scattered to the winds, likely never to be seen again.

For all of that, her presence should have grated on his nerves. Allie managed to strike a chord that resonated so strongly of kindred and family that he should want to flee immediately, to put as much space between them as he could to ensure she would not suffer the way his family had. But instead it just made him feel like he had found a home, a new place to settle, a place that meant he didn’t have to run anymore. Now if only he could remember what it was like to stop.

“I am glad to hear neither of us means the other harm or really has any notion of how to play tricks, since it means we’re very nearly guaranteed to be polite to each other. As things stand, I think that is much better than the alternative, and seems to be working out well for us so far.” He chuckled and winked, eyes bright. “So then, let you and I head to this festival to see what wares they have to sell and trade. I have some objects I would not mind parting with, and some things I would like to barter or buy for… And if they have entertainment and artistry to enjoy as well, then so much the better!”

He began striding down the path, waiting for her to fall into step with him. “Do you know if there are florists or gardeners there? There are some herbs and flowers it might be nice to seed in new herd lands, should I decide to stay. In my old homeland, there were those that were quite skilled with plants. Ornamental and medicinal alike; they were in high demand. If I am able, I would like to find someone I could purchase such things from.”

The silvery stallion gave a laugh, inclining his head. “I would be happy to stay for the moment, for I have a charming companion and the promise of quite a bit of entertainment to look forward to. As I said, it’s been some time since I could enjoy a larger festival; I am looking forward to it and the chance to share it with my new friend, Alderfly.”

User Image Allie smiled back at the sight of his grin, shaking her head faintly. He reminded her all too well of her relatives, now that she thought of it. Not only did they have the color of their hide and the sheen of dapples in common, but she knew good and well they too could be charming. Not that such tactics were put to use on family, but she'd seen her nephews plie their talents on unsuspecting strangers before. Seen them fall hook, line and sinker for it too.

'Not sure if that means I should make sure he meets the herd... Or ensure they never cross paths because their alliance would doom many.' She thought with amusement. 'Somehow, if the boys were here I think they would vote the former... Which makes me think the latter is the better option. Still, it might be amusing, to throw them together and unleash them on the public. Maybe if he stays around, I'll arrange it for the next festival. Plenty of strangers to fall for their charms, and a crowd so I can escape if they find themselves in trouble too deep to talk their way out of.'

As he paced past, Allie fell into step with him, moving up the trail with graceful strides. It didn't surprise her at all when he began speaking of the festival and trade, as well as the vendors he hoped to find there. Still, his question made her pause thoughtfully as she strove to remember all she knew of the wares offered. "I am not sure how many florists or gardeners will be at the Faire proper, truth be told... Though you shouldn't worry, I am happy to say that I know of a gardener or two that have taken to selling their blooms. One in particular, a younger mare, has a selection of medicinal plants but is fast making a name for herself with those that seek a more ornamental look. I have heard nothing but praise of her roses, to be sure, they say she has a natural gift... Soquili are beginning to travel from all over to purchase or trade them from her. I am sure this will be sufficient, if nothing can be found at the festival."

She gave a faint shrug of one shoulder, flicking her tail. “Perhaps even if you do find what you were wanting at the festival? Truth be told, the stories are quite compelling and I find myself intrigued. I’d like to see more, and this would be a fine way indeed to do it. I don’t think the same day we visit the festival would be a good idea, that goes well into the night with great fires and stories told in the flickering light… But a morning trip would be good, while it is still cool and the flowers fresh.”

Tahir could tell -or at least he was willing to guess- that he had managed to amuse Alderfly, however inadvertently it might have been. There was a general expression of fondness -slightly exasperated, perhaps- in the mare's eyes as she considered him. As though she was use to antics such as his or found him somehow endearingly familiar. A family member or herd mate, maybe... It was someone she knew well, that much was for certain. He knew that look from back with Rainshadow, from his own herd mates and relatives.

Her friendship more than anything made him want to gather up herbs again... To ensure he had tools to aid should harm befall someone around him. At the moment -as his only friend- Alderfly was of course his priority... Still, he would not wish suffering on anyone, especially not when he could prevent or soothe it. As it stood, gathering herbs and supplies were a good preventative measure, and they were certainly likely to be used. It was to this end he questioned about an herbalist or gardener selling their wares, and listened eagerly to the reply.

"Possibly a very busy trip to the festival indeed, and if not, plenty of other avenues to explore." He summed up with a faint smile, his strides fluid and meandering as he paced at her side. "This is most fortunate. I am not in a rush to gather all of the items, nor am I set on getting them all in one place. Half of the thrill of things is in the searching for them... all the little things you see and learn as you carry on your journey."

The shrug she gave belied the interest he could see in her expression, and when she spoke of the strange florist and her roses he couldn't help the curiosity and intrigue sweeping across his own face. In his experience, impressive roses were a harder feat to accomplish than most, and if a certain someone was gaining a reputation for them, he certainly wanted to see it himself. Besides, Alderfly herself seemed impressed, and he got the impression she wasn't the sort that thrilled easily.

"Is that so?" He rumbled, tail flicking back and forth. "Well, with such a reputation as that, I think we had better go investigate it indeed... One cool morning, perhaps between trips to the festival or market."

Tahir grinned widely at her, jostling sideways on the path in playful contact. “It seems Fate has been most kind, guiding my steps to you. I am sure any other I might have met by chance would be far less interested or less knowledgeable in less things… and certainly they would be less delightful to talk to! So then, Lady Alderfly, I would like to extend to you my most sincere thanks for your assistance in this matter.”
