The other side of the portal was somehow drearier than the side that Finn had left behind. It was grey with fog, wisps of it hanging in the air, reminding him of missions he'd been on in the past, though this wasn't quite so thick. Everywhere he looked there was debris, shattered concrete, a world that desolate and empty, save for what must have been hundreds of shadowlings, unformed, slowly taking shape, and the odd infected that he could see shambling around in at a lethargic pace that was almost laughably pathetic.

He moved away from the portal swiftly, jacket flapping at his heels, stirring up the tendrils of fog that seemed to thicken the further he walked. He moved around the half formed shadowlings, and avoided the infected with ease as he searched for any form of human life, though the more he searched, the more he wondered if there was nobody left to find, and the further he walked, the thicker the fog seemed to get, making it harder to make out anything on the ground anyways.

If it wasn't for the toe of his boot catching on something, Finn likely wouldn't have found the man lying on the ground at all. Even so, it took him a moment, as he stooped down to see what he had nearly tripped over, to make out a hand. When the fog began to shift and move away, he saw the body that it was attached to. Male, likely mid twenties to early thirties. Finn reached out and pushed up the shutter shades that hid half of the civilians face from view, and then let them fall back into place. He then glanced at the mask that was pushed up on top of the other mans head and rose an eyebrow, before reaching down for the mans wrist to measure his pulse.

A few beats later, and Finn was maneuvering the other man, who was of similar but slightly smaller build, up into a fireman's lift over his shoulder. What he was expecting to be easy, however, he found he struggled with, as if his energy and extra strength had been sapped away. <********." He grunted, as he struggled to his feet, all while Trynt rumbled in his head that something wasn't quite right. Something was making them weaker.

The fog , He thought to his weapon, while he began carry the civilian back towards the portal, the journey now much more difficult than it should have been, but not in any way impossible. When he reached the portal, he stopped, adjusted the weight of the man on his shoulders, and made his way through.

What. The. ********.

This was not where Finn had expected to come out when he had passed through the portal, and instantly he began to mentally curse the incompetence that was whoever had been in control of this s**t (probably almost definitely Mark). In front of him, a highway stretched on for miles, and as he turned to have a look around and behind him, his gaze stopped on a skyscraper, and his head tilted back to look up.

Instantly upon taking in the sight of the top of the skyscraper, he felt a stab of pain in his head, forcing him to close his eye and look down and away with a grimace. The moment he did so, he felt the earth shaking around his feet. Trynt began to go crazy, snarling out a warning in his head, and Finn grit his teeth together tight, bracing himself against that rumbling, turning his head to look behind.

"Oh holy ******** shiiiiiit." He hissed, taking a step back, and another, and another, backing away from what appeared to be a massive Fear creature, it's shape similar to a horse except for well, the vines and grasping tendrils hands and all that junk that made Finn ready to nope right out of there. Removing one hand from where it was gripping the civilians leg (who was still draped across Finn's shoulders) he summoned his weapon to hand, and slashed at the vines whenever they came too close. But there were so many, too many, and burdened down with the man that he was carrying, Finn could just not move fast enough.

Suddenly, the pain in his head had returned with renewed force, only this time, it was accompanied by words.

It is not natural for you to accept us?

At that moment, his head exploded with images, faster than his brain could truly process, and with emotions that had no business invading his senses. It was staggering, and it hurt, so much that he thought that his head might actually, literally explode....

...And then Trynt was there, forcing the images back, bringing Finn back to himself with a roar that reverberated throughout the recesses of the Moon hunters mind.

The wyvern growled, and Finn, for once, did not argue as he did just that, feeling a renewed sense of energy spike through him as he began to run, slashing at any tendrils that followed, tendrils that attempted to grasp at his ankles and pull him back. <********, ********, ********, <********>.."

Finn didn't think he was going to make it. Where the ******** was he going to run to get away from this thing? But his adrenaline combined with the pushes and urgings of his weapon had him running faster than could've been possible otherwise, and soon he found himself on the stretch of highway itself, even while behind him the city exploded in vines and the nightmare of a horse like creature stampeded on his heels.

He began huffing for air, the burst of energy beginning to wane just as he reached the first few parked cars. Feeling as if he had little choice, Finn made a beeline towards that which was closest, which was, conveniently enough, a brand new, shiny red Ferrari.

If only he had time to properly admire it before he was shoving his civilian into the passenger side seat before ducking around and settling himself in as well, hand going to the ignition where, quite fortunately, a key just happened to be.

Finn closed his eye and cranked the engine, while the ground beneath the car shook.

The engine came to life, and Finn couldn't help but grin, one hand going to the gear stick as his foot eased up from the clutch, the other carefully going to the gas and....

He was off! The beautiful sports car ran as smooth as could be, picking up speed as he changed gears, accelerating swiftly down the highway and leaving the horse creature behind.

A glance in the rear view mirror made him laugh as the monster fell further and further behind.

The end of the road came all too soon, and Finn rolled his gorgeous ride to smooth stop just a few meters away from the portal. Hastily getting out lest the pony return, he darted around the car to pull the other man out from the passenger seat, ready to get this mission over with.

He did not expect, when he yanked the door open, to receive a jabbing punch to his throat that left him unable to breathe, his eye bulging as he fell to the concrete in surprise, a gloved hand clutching the front of his neck. Before he could even process what the hell had just happened, his civilian was getting out of the car, and booting it away with quick glances back over his shoulder.

"Oh you little ********." Finn rasped, pushing himself to his feet and taking off after him.

And this is where being fairly well fed over the last month and going fog daily runs came in as a great advantage to the moon Hunter, who was quickly able to catch up to the civ gone rouge, tackling him to the ground and giving him one nice, clean, hefty strike to the side of his head, with enough power to knock him right back out.

A sneer on his face and a cold look in his eye, Finn got back up and hefted the civilian up with him, half dragging and half carrying him back towards the blue portal.

But there was just on problem.

The portal was ********!"
