Jason frowned as he checked out the condition of the girl, noting the dried blood under her eyes and other small wounds she had. While she didn't appear to be in immediate danger, she wasn't in the best of condition. He could see why; the decayed remnants of civilization an obvious hint.
He then went through what few items she had, seeing if she had some form of ID. While he couldn't find any form of identification, he did find a few things, such as food, some clothing, and a bloodied knife (This poor thing really had gone through hell). He also found a radio strapped to her waist, and it seemed to be in working condition.
His search done, Jason slipped his hands under her body, and lifted her off the ground in classic bridal style. The fog was sapping his strength, but this girl wasn't heavy, and he had enough reserves to carry her the short distance to the portal.
He had expected to be back at hunter headquarters, ready to take the girl to the infirmary and tend to her wounds.
Instead, he was transported to the side of a highway, the only building nearby was a tall skyscraper, half destroyed and swarmed by the vines. Jason rubbed his eyes, for some reason his head was hurting if he looked at the building, so he turned away, feeling the ground shake beneath him and-
... Oh...o-oh god.
Jason didn't even know what he was looking at. It was some sort of horse, but with a hole lot of nope attached to it. Gruesome green boils littered it's being, many vine like things twisting and turning, before stretching out to grasp at him.
It was a testament to the unconscious girl in his arms that she didn't wake up at the hunters ear piercing shriek, and quite lucky that Jason didn't drop her as he turned from the horrid sight.
Suddenly he staggered, pictures flashing in his mind at such a rapid rate it made him dizzy and disoriented. A voice whispered in his head, He sagged to his knees as every second he saw a different face depicting a emotion of suffering. It hurt so much, he didn't know if he could take it...
Zanthvos voice urged him to his feet, his head aching with the beasts presence. He placed the girl over his shoulder, then with a sudden boost of energy he sprinted away from the thing, slashing at the vines with Zanth in his free hand.
The fog had closed in on him again, his burst of speed dwindling away and leaving Zanth tired and weak.
'ZANTH THIS IS NOT THE TIME!" Jason shouted, hearing the huge thing in the distance. "Oh s**t oh s**t KEEP AWAY FROM ME!"
Up ahead he was surprised to see a car, complete with car keys. It was a bonus, but upon a second glance he realized the car was in bad shape, the paint peeling off and the seat stitching was in tatters. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, especially with giant horses right behind them. At least it started. And struggled to stay on.
Jason quickly placed the girl in the passengers seat, buckled her in and turned the key in the ignition once more.
The car puttered into life, and Jason slammed the pedal down and forced it to speed up to put some distance between him and the monster. At first the car was running smoothly, and it gave him some time to collect his thoughts and calm down. Until the car began to slow down again.
"Oh no..." Jason tried tog et the car to go faster, before he was shoved forward in his seat as a weight smashed down on top, denting the roof of the car.
Putting on another burst of speed, Jason somehow managed to get the car to respond, and the giant horse was left in the dust, much to his great relief. And in the distance he could see the blue portal that would get him back to base!
He pulled over, parked the car, and gingerly pulling the girl from the passenger seat before making a mad dash for the portal, he was almost there...
The girl in his arms stirred, teal eyes opening and looking up at the hunter that held her. Both looked at each for a moment, before she screamed and began struggling.
"A-ah, wait stop, please I-i'm not trying to h-hurt you!" He tried to calm her down, but she wasn't having any of it. "I'm trying to save- Hurk!"
The girl had struck a lucky (or unlucky) blow to a very sensitive area, and Jason crumbled to the floor as the portal in the distance closed, leaving them both stranded.
