As soon as he saw the entwined barricade of thorns, his mind immediately snapped back to the strange message he'd heard in the communication tower. Something about thorns, about them being the source of the infection. He drew up warily, staring at them and the way they seemed to be... well, alive. They were moving, and he could see an odd light coming from them.

Within seconds, flowers began to bloom from the ugly mess, and Al felt his brows arching with surprise. What the ********? Were these things trying to play nice and innocent to lure them in? Fat chance of that ******** bizarre." He muttered, glancing at his wife. "I know you only grow one kinda plant, but you ever seen s**t like this before?

Prompt 9
You reach a long barricade of thorns on the other side of the wall. They seem to be moving, pulsating with a life of their own and gift out a strange light. Flowers begin to bloom on the wall. When you press your hand against one, you are immediately assaulted with a strange vision (roll 1d6 to see what it is).

1. You see a skyscraper. At the very top there is a greenhouse. You feel yourself hovering above the greenhouse before diving right into it. There is a beautiful garden inside it, almost like a biodome. In the center of the biodome is what looks like some sort of chalice

2. You see hundreds of dead bodies, and a strange feeling washes over you. Apathy. You stand over the bodies and continue searching for at least one survivor. You hear yourself speak. "Are humans really so fragile?"

3. You fight against humans, but this time they are armed. Their weapons hurt. You are frustrated. They are eligible, but none of them will truly accept your wisdom. You kill many without ever feeling accepted. The feeling continues until the vision is over.

4. You fight against creatures of shadows, what you would consider your own breathren. They come in all shapes and sizes, large beasts and dragons, demons and even the undead. They refuse your knowledge. They are not compatible. They beg, negotiate and even fight against you to stop. You assimilate them for their treachery and refusal to serve.

5. You sleep in a long chamber of vines. Inside it are rows and rows of crystals. Each one is important to you. You tap against one, and it resonates, and you feel a strange sense of satisfaction. This is the power you have collected from those living and dead.

6. [ There is no actual image in this vision. Instead, you are assaulted with hundreds, thousands of conflicting thoughts, emotions, and ideals, all of them not your character's own. Your actual character's nose begins to bleed, and they fall to the ground, convulsing. They are unable to roll any other visions from the above if they reach this prompt and eventually pass out ].

Otherwise, you may continue rolling until you have fulfilled the 250 word requirement for it!

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER: Al is a rough looking individual, usually sporting a five o'clock. He's a big guy at about 6'3", strong, but sporting a bit of a belly these days. His right arm and the right side of his body is covered in tattoos like so. He sports dark hair and dark eyes, and normally dresses in very casual clothing. You know, when he's not toting that snazzy inmate outfit.

While Lola indeed grow plants, the only thing she was ever successful in growing were weeds. Well. Weed, to be precise. And while she watched a godawful amount of television back at home, none of the shows included documentary on plants, much less plant life that grows during apocalyptic settings.

"Sure haven't, sug. Pretty little things, though, aren't they?"

Before he had time to stop her, Lola stepped forward to gently touch the silken petal of the flower. It was beckoning her, calling for attention and she was happy to admire it.

And then, everything went black.

Vision

They weren't listening. They weren't obeying.

One long, shadowed claw reaches out to silence the insubordinate beside her. Another comes down upon the head of the beast in front of her, as it pleads and begs for its life. Pathetic.

She is being swarmed and she does not care. It does not matter. She will silence them all just as she had silenced these two. If they were not with her, then they were against her and she would have none of their excuses, none of their failures, none of it.

Shrieks filled the air as she continued to rip and shred every monster apart. Some fought back, arms and talons swinging wildly at her face, her torso, her shoulder - all deflected, the weak attacks doing nothing but annoying her further.

She paused, then grinned.

Spreading her arms out, she absorbed their shadows into her own. If they would not comply, she would simply force them to comply. She would create a stronger power for herself. They were a waste of space, it was clear that their existence was meant for nothing more than to add to her own strength. They were no longer kin, they were nothing but fodder for her dominance.

Her jaw opened and she felt the laughter pour from within. The sound was cruel and dark, a wicked cackle that only grew louder as her own shadow overtook her surroundings, absorbing everything as the others' screams faded into nothing.

"I dunno about pretty." He grunted, filled with mistrust as he sourly eyed the stupid flowers. Before he could do a goddamn thing, Lola had reached out to touch them. "Lola!" He tried to knock her hand away, but ended up brushing the petals himself.

Everything went black.

The shadows stirred and swarmed around him, forming monsters and other unholy abominations. They were attempting to reason with him, pleading and begging, but he would not have it. He had attempted to share what he knew, but they would not have it. They were not compatible.

He ripped them apart with his bare hands, their blows falling against him like pinpricks. They were nothing, and he? He was everything.

If they could not serve as useful tools, they did not deserve to live. He ended them with brutal efficiency and did not even pause to consider other alternatives.

--Al snapped back to himself, gasping and panting, staggering back from the plants in a daze. What the ******** had that been? Why had he felt like he was one of those things?

((are u fkin srs, thread))

More and more monsters poured out from every angle in her vision. Zombies, dragons, beasts of all kinds, Biblical and not - every creature she'd ever imagined was now surrounding her. Each creature was either fighting with her or pleading with her but she refused to listen. They had refused to listen, to understand her reasoning.

They were no longer compatible.

Her jaws widened, continuing the onslaught and sating her gnawing hunger on the flesh of those around her -

- when Lola suddenly woke up, pale and terrified.

The vision had seemed all too real, forcing the woman to jerk both hands up in front of her face, examining her fingers as if to ensure they had not sprouted claws during her slumber. What in the world...had the flowers done that? She'd had her fair share of weed like everybody else, but that was one hell of a bad trip, if that was some sort of LSD!

"Al?" She turned, searching for her companion as she struggled to her feet. Her body continued to tremble, still recovering from the shock of the vision, "Al, are you okay?"

"Fine," He thundered after a moment, definitely a bit more pale himself as he stared at his wife with wide-eyes. "Just ********' fine. Let's not do that again. Ever. Like, let's not touch these ******** things and let's get the ******** outta here.

He snatched Lola's hand, carefully dragging her away from the ominous wall of thorns. They had to move.

And was it just him, or did everything suddenly get--itchy?
