And of course, they now had the Boss back, which was quite an advantage in Sylvi's mind; he had a knack for handling tough situations, she thought, and it was nice to have him as an unifying factor as well.
Besides which, no-one deserved to be what he'd become.
But she'd left the safety of the little survivors' camp to do a bit more exploring, now that she felt up for it. It was easier now to think of the whole picture, of what actions might benefit them as a faction.
She figured the more they knew about this once-hospital, the better. Maybe they'd even be able to discover a way out of here.
Wandering for a while, she didn't encounter much of anything of interest, though. About to give and make her way back, a yellow flicker almost out of her sight-range made her stop and move closer.
Was that... yes, a fire! A campfire, to be more precise. A smile broke out on her face and Sylvi jogged the rest of the way to the fire, taking in the three figures of people around it - actual people, that didn't disappear when you looked at them.
"Hey!" She called out a greeting, grinning at the three figures. And then waited.
But no-one acknowledged her, except for the small boy staring rather intently at her. Awkwardly, she waved at him and moved to approach him; perhaps these people were all affected by the fog as well and just needed some time to see that she was real and not imagined.
"I know why this is is happening," the boy whispered as she got closer.
Sylvi blinked, stumped, before regaining her wits; "you do?"
The boy didn't answer her question, but if he really knew what was up with all this... "What do you mean?"
Again there was no answer, just the same, intense stare. She shifted on her feet, got a bit annoyed before calming herself with the thought that the fog made everyone weird.
"Please, if you know why this is happening, tell me." Her entreaty was honest and heartfelt, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. She waited for several minutes and tried talking to him more before finally giving up. This kid wasn't budging, if he really did know.
But maybe one of the others might know as well; she moved over to the balding, old man, opening her mouth to ask him if he knew - but never got the chance to say anything, as he immediately launched into a creepy story about how he'd fished up dead bodies.
Trying to interrupt was futile; he just kept on with the story, which was getting creepier and creepier - it wasn't just random dead bodies now, it was people he'd known, then his friends and when he started talking about hooking his dead wife she strode off to the last person at the campfire. Whatever this guy had to say, she didn't want to hear after that story.
The last person was a girl with rather pretty long black hair. She hadn't acknowledged Sylvi at all, simply stared into the campfire and muttering something to herself over and over. Nearing her, the blonde could hear the words - 'she lied', over and over and over.
"Hello...?"
There was no reply, no change at all. She tried a few more times but then gave up on the girl as well. Perhaps it was time to head back to the other Prison survivors; this had been entirely fruitless, all things considered.
OOC: SCENARIO 8
Scenario requirements:
gaia_crown [ PROMPT 8 ][ OUTSIDE ] Safety
Your character finds a campfire, and there's a few people settled around it. The people stationed at the campfire are fixated at it,and almost say nothing to you. You can (and any other players in the thread) talk to them as you wish. When you are done talking to them all, this event is over!
Character 1: A girl with long black hair. She stares into the campfire and continues to say the words she lied over and over.
Character 2: A balding, old man. He begins to recount a story about his past, about how he was a fisherman. All he fished up were dead bodies. He continues to talk about fishing up his friends. He continues to talk about his wife and how he fished her up too. The story gets more and more morbid.
Character 3: A small boy, maybe five years old. He is looking straight at you the entire time. As you approach him, he whispers I know why this is is happening. If you question him further he doesn't say anything. However if you bribe him with a food item (DISCARD IMMEDIATELY AFTER) he will take it and continue speaking. I am Peter Pan. You blink, and as you do, you realize it wasn't a child at all, but simply an skeleton corpse of a child.
When the event is over, add +10 infection to your character's infection meter
Characters involved: Sylvi
Extra effect: Any player in your party [ carrying a flashlight ] will be able to shine it in dark places. This does an additional +1 damage every time they hit any sort of mob (including boss mobs!) when they flash it at them.
