If you are RPing this with multiple people, all of you hear the ringing, coming from various phones. It is up to you when your character comes to the realization that the ringing is all in their heads, (or if they need other chars to help them realize so!) When the event is over, add +10 infection to your character's infection meter.

Jane wanted to be inside. So she crept into the hospital. It felt nice being surrounded by with four walls again.
Something caught her attention. the phone was ringing. "phone?" Jane walked down the hallway after it. she started at it..., a land line. surely they still worked. they weren't powered by electricity if she remembered her classes right. they ran on a separate line... which is why hospitals and such usually had land lines instead of cell phones. She picked up.
"Jane, Jane help me"
"Mom?"
"Kelp me Jane. The fog it's too thick."
Mom mom where are you?"
the line hung dead. Jane couldn't believe it. Just when she almost had something.
Another phone rang. "Mom?" she ran for it.

Picking it up she fount it was not her mom, but her father.
"Dad? Dad!"
"Help me."
"Dad. Please. Tell me where you are! I'll come." her own safety was disregarded in favor of getting to her father. helping her family. surely together they could do something.
but the line went dead. "Dad? Dad!" her hero... her father was gone. and there was nothing she could do. no redial button to push. she had no way of knowing where he was.
And then another phone rang.

She ran, racing to pick it up. It rang but no light turned on.... wait... it was electric. It wasn't even plugged into the wall.
then why was it ringing?
How was it ringing?
It wasn't ringing. It was all in her head.
Jane sat down and cried.
