Rajni had, at some point, lost track of Fantasia. This wasn't surprising at all since Fantasia had been flighty at best and Rajni had been somewhat distant, angry even. And why the ******** was her skin so ******** itchy? She couldn't stop scratching at it; burning burning burning.
A figure was slumped onto the ground in front of her, cradled in a puddle of their own blood. Her breathing hitched for a moment; she wasn't prepared to deal with another broken, bleeding heart. Fantasia had been enough of a weight on her soul (******** ********- no, do not use such unkind words on such a gentle soul- scratch scratch scratch) and now there was another person come to leech something off of her. She held her charcoal, her shovel, her gloves closer.
She tried to ignore the moaning, the horrible, horrible moaning. In fact, she tried to turn in the opposite direction and walk elsewhere; if she just didn't approach, it wouldn't matter in the least. Yet no matter which direction she turned, no matter what pace she took, she just kept getting closer. It was madness- MADNESS, but she was falling deeper and deeper into the spider's web. No choice, just run. Just keep ******** running.
Finally she was within hearing distance of the person and they tried adjusting their head up to look at her. Rajni made a face, looked elsewhere.
"I know you see me. You can see me." A tiny voice, quiet in the silence. She tried to ignore it. "Don't-" It broke down into a fit of coughing. Rajni grimaced. It was hard to walk past it like it wasn't there. She kept picturing it being her friend, her parent, her boyfriend-
-Well they were dead now anyways.
"Don't walk away."
Rajni kept walking.
"Water ..."
Rajni kept walking.
"Food ..."
Rajni kept walking.
She walked until she was sure that turning around wouldn't break her completely. She was- or had been- a registered nurse. Healing people wasn't her passion or anything (if she was honest, she didn't really have any passions whatsoever, least of al), but it had been what she'd dedicated a few years of her life to. It was hard to just ignore someone displaying all the signs of needing help.
It was only when she saw the same eyes staring at her that she was halted in her steps. A ghostly pale figure loomed on the edge of the horizon, and without being able to see all the details of their grainy body, Rajni could tell it was the same man.
You could see me.
Fear ripped through her body like a bolt of lightning and she immediately started running. She wasn't sure where to or which direction she was going in- she just needed to get away from that figure.
