~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Custom Form Below ~

Name: Idris Illyr
Starting Stage: Freshling
Race: Grimm
Base: A (Ears: 4; Eyes: 1; Hair: 26)

Description:
  • Body: Basically colored after a burgundy fox or a Norwegian Pastel Fox. Specifics of which fox (because I'm woefully torn between the two) and whether the coat colors translate as skin tone or if it'll just be fur coloring, I shall leave up to the colorist. Nothing too jarring, something natural if a skin tone is chosen, please.
  • Eyes: Moss green in color
  • Hair: The shade of the darkest brown present on the body/fur or slightly darker if more contrast would look nicer. A couple of white streaks in the bangs for a nod to his white tail tip.
  • Clothes: Something to the effect of this pattern in navy and white, with navy up top and for the sleeves with white for the lower half on his torso. A gold/mustard color for across the top of his shoulders, elbow patches, the cuff, and hem. Have a color palette for kicks!
  • Tail: - See fox ref. c:
  • Claws: - Natural lighter color, maybe bone or off white or something along those lines. Something natural that compliments him.

References (if applicable): Sort of laced throughout. And have a work doodle, why not?
Quest Approval: - If you don't have a quest approval then please delete!
Cost: 750k

~ Personality Traits, Backstory, Fears/Goals/Dreams ~

Personality Traits:
Positive : Observant, independent, focused/committed, encouraging
Neutral : Intensely private, complex, (very) quiet, formal
Negative : Can be scrappy, temperamental, opinionated, isolated

Idris is a young Grimm that can be difficult to get a bead on. He barely speaks, though he can and does every now and then. From early, early on, he has just always been the quiet type. He isn't shy and has no trouble with crowds or groups of people, readily moving through and among them. The Grimm isn't afraid of messing up or saying the wrong thing; he simply chose near silence. His methods of communicating can vary between gesturing, emoting, and writing things out if he isn't of the mind to speak, which is more often than not. There are two sides to this. On one hand, if there is ever a confidant to lend trust to, it would be Idris. On the other, however, it also means that he can get overlooked or unnoticed. He dwells in his mind in those times, sifting through his thoughts or busying himself with whatever he may have to do at the time. Sure, he works plenty fine on his own, readily completing tasks given to him without needing to be shepherded and kept on task, but he does enjoy working and interacting with others too.

He's a bit of a mystery, though that doesn't mean he doesn't wish to be known and understood, not by all certainly, but a few dear folks. Idris, whether it be to people or to things he does, is wholly devoted to those he holds important. When he's with friends, and eventually romantic partners, you can bet the entirety of his focus will be there and present. He feels there aren't many who may have the patience to work their way to the core of him, so those that do are treasured utterly. Those that do find their way into his heart and confidence will be the most likely of any to have some proper conversation with him. He doesn't enjoy idle chit chat, of course preferring comfortable silence instead, but an exchange over shared interests, personal worries or aspirations, and such things will have him more keen on participating than being just another warm body present. Idris might not say so, but he enjoys seeing others succeed, the happiness in their voices and expression when things work out better than planned or after a bunch of working really hard has paid off. As such, in some way or another, be it actively helping or simply being a behind the scenes cheerleader, he'll try his best to help you see it through. When it comes to schoolwork and, eventually, working a job, he'll be driven to making sure everything is done to his standards of work. (Done well, done right.) Idris feels that words can be powerful things, and just running at the mouth seems to just clutter the air. Why not have what you say be all the more poignant by not saying much to begin with, that way people will be more inclined to listen when you do speak.

This quiet fellow does tend to hold some pretty strong opinions on things, not that he'd ever outright say so. Once an opinion is formed, that is generally the way things in his eyes. Oh, you disagree? Well, he'll agree to disagree and leave it at that, unless pushed whereupon he start posturing or outright punch someone if harried enough. While not one to start fights, he'll certainly jump in to finish them, as well as lashing out against those who do him or his friends wrong. There are ways to pick up on his state of mind, but one must pay attention. It won't happen very often that he'll flat out announce his mood, but his near vow of silence has him geared towards being generally more emotive and expressive whether he means to or not. Watch his face, read his body. If there is ever anyone who has mastered the power of vibes, it's him. Angry or growing impatient? He'll radiate it. Happy or content with things? He'll simply glow with it. His thoughts are his own, if anyone were wanting to know, they ought to ask. Depending on how familiar he is with the inquirer, he'll either answer fully and honestly, if he's extremely comfortable with the person, or if he is less familiar them, his answer will be a mild or half answer, try to direct the conversation elsewhere, or simply offer a shrug and try move along.

Backstory: Idris was a cache baby, and so was brought up in the nursery. Even as a little thing, he was a quiet child. He never shied away from participating in group or partner inclined activity when he was required to participate. His caretaker was concerned for the longest time that the young Grimm wasn't speaking. He wasn't deaf, for Idris would turn to see if someone called his name and he obviously paid attention when activities were being demonstrated, turned in his work. He developed methods to express himself. One day, his caretaker pulled him aside and simply asked if he could speak, and was astonished at the response that they were given. The little Grimm nodded simply before answering. "Why, yes, I can. Why do you ask?" He simply chose to be quiet. There was nothing wrong and his caretaker was greatly relieved.

Being an orphan, he didn't have a family name to look into, so after some digging, much pondering, and a spot of soul searching, he picked a surname name for himself. It's a word he made up, but he's quite pleased with it, Illyr. It sounds nice with his name and in it contains two of the things he enjoys, the sea (llyr) and the stars (ylli).

Likes: Stargazing, sounds of water (rain, stream, ocean, etc), exploring!, and working with his hands
Dislikes: Getting stuck indoors for a long stint of time, pushy people, overly nosy folks, litterbugs, illness/being or getting sick
Fears: True loneliness, never figuring out what he wants to do with himself.
Goals/Dreams: To be a part of and/or have a family/pack someday
Hobby: He greatly enjoys stacking and balancing stones, making small cairns every now and then. He dabbles in meditation. Nature walks! He loves exploring, and will occasionally be frustrated that he can't do so to the extent that he wishes to when he's young and in school.

How he fits within his Zodiac sign: Idris fits pretty soundly within his zodiac. While he's young his romantic streak won't really be evident, but once he starts developing such feelings for potential romantic interest(s), he'll be the sort to write them love letters, feeling that he can better his express his full admiration and affection in written form without having to worry about tripping over his tongue and saying something wrong or not fully conveying what he wishes to express.

Thoughts on himself: What is there to say? He thinks and feels like he's a bit of alright. While his manner can leave him frustrated sometimes when folks don't understand what he's trying to convey or communicate, he wouldn't change himself for the world. He's eager to learn more about his race, feel out what their past means for him and his future.

Thoughts on the Races: As far as he's concerned they're all on equal footing with him. He wishes to learn about and understand each of them, his own race included. No one person has burned him on an entire race. Besides, he's young yet. He's keen on learning as much as he can on everyone.

Thoughts on his Academy House/University: Generally a thoughtful bunch, Idris likes them. As interested as he is in learning about the races' pasts, living around a bunch of like minded folks have him quite pleased, not that he has any issue with either of the other houses. His interest in the past of his race and others' races stems from how little he knows/is known of his own. Perhaps clues could be gleaned from learning of others' histories. He feels that maybe in doing so, he can get a better idea of how Grimms interacted with others, how to interact with them now as a member of a race that was thought to be long gone.

The arrival of Kestrel and crew have him somewhat torn. He adores the Academy, loves the people and the community, but the chance to learn of his culture straight from the source is undeniably intriguing. Would he go along with them back to their homeland to live among them to learn how Grimms actually live without speculation? Definitely maybe. If there was always a chance to return home, like an exchange or foster program, he'd be all over it in a heartbeat. However, if it's a one way trip, he wouldn't be so sure. Leave the only place that's ever been home to him for some unknown, far off place? That's a rather tall order for the pup; one he isn't so sure he'd be able to fill. An appeal to his sense of adventure would likely do wonders to convince him to give the whole thing a shot.

~~~~~~~~~~~~ EXTRA ~~~
What's down the line?: Unless something world view changing happens through RP or his growing up, I'll likely have him pursue being a stonemason of sorts. Taking his love of the outdoors, the almost meditative feel he gets when stacking and balancing stones, and his love of making things with his hands, I could see him being quite happy building stone walls, patios, outdoor stone hearth/stoves, and maybe homes for folks. This could go a few ways. He could end up in Grendel with a mind to pursue architecture and art-sculpting double degree, or go through community college to pick up some tool handling skills, or just seek a stonemason to apprentice under, if not just having a small job someplace to support him doing what he loves in his free time. Quite likely one of the more latter options.
~ RP Prompt Post ~
Prompt 4
A smart-mouthed peer just told your Nightmare that they're a failure to their race. How do they react?
Art was going pretty well. The table he had been sitting at was entirely pleasant. The two others there were chatty and didn't mind that he didn't contribute much in the way of conversation. They occasionally paused their conversation to ask him how his drawing was going, what he thought their progress, if there was anything that would better complete their pictures. Otherwise, they left him be, which was pretty okay. After a while, a young imp came sauntering over and prodded him in the shoulder blade. Idris fumbled the glue at the prod to his shoulder. Turning his head with a c**k of his head at the imp, he raised his brows inquisitively.
The Imp then proceeded to lay into him. What? He was failure as a Grimm? According to whom? When the Imp finished, Idris glanced around the classroom, quirked a brow at the speaker, shaking his head with a wrinkled nose. Essentially, "Nah, I don't think you know what you're talking about." He then simply returned to his work. What was a bad Grimm anyway? What all was known about them? He was still learning. Was it that he was okay working alone, that he didn't stop working when he was on his own? That he was alive, where as most of his race had died or disappeared? Surely not. They couldn't be that mean. With that, he had simply dismissed the conversation. However the Imp apparently wasn't happy with his reaction.
"Hey! Answer me!" They fussed, smacking the open shaker of glitter with the back of their hand. It clattered across the table, spilling across the two other Freshlings drawing. His fellow table mates cried out in dismay. Drawing his ears back against his head, Idris slid himself back from the table and stood up, his tail held stiffly up. He was not pleased. He grabbed the collar of the Imp's shirt and pulled him away back to where the Imp had been sitting. A low growl rumbled at the back of his throat, a snarl threatening to pull at his lips, and leaned in close, pushing the Imp back into their seat. "I don't think you know what a Grimm really is, so please do leave me and my friends alone. Don't bother us again. Alright?" He finally released the Imp's shirt collar and returned to his table. He furrowed his brows at his table mate's as he jumped in, helping to clean up the mess. The pup glanced at the pictures with a little nod. Were they okay? Had their pictures gotten badly messed up? The two seemed to get the message as they both shook the glitter off of their pages and showed him their work. It wasn't so bad! Only one had wet watercolor paint and she had been trying to paint a garden. It looked as if it had rained and the plants were all dewy now. Nice! Together they cleaned up the mess and resumed their work happy as could be.
Heyah, Avid! I've recently been added to the Loremaster team, and you are my first critique! Whoo! So I'm sort of new to this...
First Post: Looks good! You need to specify a face and a hairstyle, though. It makes it easier for colorists to pick up your quest as they browse through this forum.
Personality: You mention that he's interested in learning about the pasts of various races at the end of your post (in the "thoughts on the Academy house" section). Please elaborate! Is he interested in learning everyone's past, or just that of the Grimms? It would also be nice to see some elaboration on his opinion of his race--what does he think about their return to the real world? Would he go with Kestrel if he was offered, or does he like the Academy better?
Backstory: Tell us about an important event in his childhood, one that shaped who he is as a person. Maybe when he first took his informal vow?
Prompt: Looks good!
