Mercy was busy with a front display today. She'd managed to block off an hour before she'd had to get home to study, so she would have to move quickly in order to get the job done before she had to go home. But the BookWyrm had become one of her many secondary "homes." When she wasn't spending time with Delilah at her place or back at the dorm with Hafwen, Mercy invariably found herself inside the book store.

Not as a customer though.

She'd taken to "volunteering" her time to Ms. Jessie after the whole attempted shoplifting fiasco as not only a way to pay off the price of the book she'd attempted to take - but as a way to show Ms. Jessie she really did care about the books. She really did wonder how Ms. Jessie stayed on top of everything. She was starting to question weather the older woman slept at all.

Still, her back was turned to the doors, so she was relying on her hearing to greet any customers when they came in. She was still in her Crystal Academy uniform however - having not stopped off at her dorm to change before making her way over to the store.

He'd spent the better part of the morning looking up bookstores on his phones gps and trying to find them, which was not such an easy task really, but he had found one that was nice looking from what the picture his phone provided showed plus it wasn't that far away either. It was with that in mind, and his phone held in his hand, as he let a taxi drive him to the place this time just in case he somehow managed to get lost - again. He had, till now, been walking around the city trying to find places and get a feel for the city he now lived in. This time he was being smart, he also didn't want to waste more time.

When the cab finally arrived outside of the BookWyrm he stepped out and after paying the driver he headed up to the porch of the house which served as a book store and feeling awkward, since it did look like a home, he finally grasped the door knob and turning it he pushed the door open at the same time and stepped inside slowly. He had started his hunt for a bookstore the moment he'd gotten out of classes, seeing as his parents were picking up the girls today, but he'd managed to change into normal clothing before he'd left the school as he disliked the uniform.

The ripped up black skinny jeans, a loose fitting thin white t-shirt with a black jacket over it that looked a bit professional, but it's what made up his out of school attire for the day. It was an odd combination but somehow it worked, even with his dyed hair and the right side of said hair being shaven short. Glancing about Swung, not native to the English language, went right to looking around in the hopes of stumbling upon what he needed - books to learn English. He had university text books but that wasn't enough as it taught professional English, what would be needed for work, not social English that he now needed to learn as did the rest of his family really.

Jessie was sitting in the back of the store surrounded by books. It was time for her to go through the romance section and pull out some of the older books. It was rather painful for her to do so since she really wanted each book to go to a home but she needed to clear out the older books in each section every so often to make room for new books. To make her heart happy though she tended to offer those books to her staff for a deep discount, keep any she is interested in, and then donates the rest to the library and other charities that use the books.

She was contemplating a stack of particularly steamy bodice rippers when the tinkle of the front door bell had her looking up. Since the romance was all the way in the back and blocked by the travel section Jessie couldn't see who had just come in but since Mercy was up there she wasn't too worried. The young lady had proven herself to be quite helpful when it came to the store and she was great company when the shop was quiet and empty. Maybe she would like the books? Jessie contemplated the stack before she scooped them up and headed towards the front, humming as she went.

Jessie paused once to straighten the little model of a horse and buggy that had tipped over. She needed to find a better book end since apparently her travel books were a little too heavy for such a lightweight trinket. The brunette eyed the section and wondered if reordering the section would be a good idea. With a mental shrug she continued on her way once more only to come to a stop when she saw a young man wondering around, "Oh hello, you must have been the bell. If you have any questions, need help, or just want company, just give a shout. Try not to get lost, its a little crazy in here but if you do just remember the door is by art... just look for the giant paint brush hanging off the ceiling." She nodded in the direction of the front.

One of the best things Jessie found with her eclectic decorations is people did get lost but they didn't seem to mind very much. After all who would get mad being lost surrounded by plants in the plant section or plastic food in the cooking area. The stars in astronomy even glow but sadly no one really knew that since you couldn't see it when the lights were on. "Oh," She had just thought of something, "Hey Mercy! What day is it?" Halloween was coming and she didn't want to be late putting up the directions. Jessie would have to find the correct box first however which would be quite a challenge.

Mercy had heard the tinkle of the door and had turned her head to see who it was. The gentleman who walked in was a rather interesting sight to say the least - but she simply gave him a smile and a nod. If he needed help she was sure he'd ask.

Once he moved out of view she went back to work, finishing the stacking of books just as Ms. Jessie called out to her.

"It's the Twenty-Eighth Ms. Jessie!" She called out. Moving back toward the section she'd heard her from. "Why?"

She saw the man again and again gave him another small smile and nod. "Oh! Hi again! If you need anything just call and I'll do what i can to help!"

Taking note of the first one to speak he nodded his head once. He understood a greeting when given one and bowed his head some, he didn't do a full bow as it wasn't a normal thing here and this was fairly casual as well. After the greeting she seemed intent, unknowingly, to confuse him as more words poured from her lips. Some words, here and there, he understood but altogether he wasn't sure on what she was saying. Help he knew was offered and he heard the word lost as well, something he hoped he didn't become, door and art he also said and nodded as she motioned to the front of the shop. He didn't understand why she was pointing to the door, or the front of the store, but he didn't think to say or ask about it.

When the other person started to speak up, offering help, he nodded once more/ He had been looking around, trying to find the section he needed, and finally he was ready to seek help and hope he could find it in either of the women here.

"English?" he asked, hoping that would get the message across. he needed to work on his English, to better his skills, and with how heavy his accent was he hoped it would get the message across better than words ever could. Looking around, raising a hand, he motioned about before turning his dark eyes on Mercy and gave her a questioning look.

"The Twenty-Eighth? When is the first? Less then a week?" Jessie had seen Halloween decorations in main stores for weeks now but unlike those places the young woman refused to decorate before the month of the holiday, it made some of the holidays harder to decorate for but it made her feel better. "Because I've got to dig out the Halloween decorations for the first. Oh. Oh. Oh... should we also do a halloween special book club on the monday before?" Her mind jumped to yet another topic and she took a few steps towards the front desk, already wondering just what she could do for such a night.

"Hum?" She had completely forgotten about the young man. "English? Like school books or like translators?" She glanced over at Mercy and then down at the stack of books in her arms, then back at the young man. "Mercy will you take him back to Travel. I have a feeling he is looking for translators." She paused a moment as her mind mentally shuffled through the section. "Check around the crossed flags. They represent the translation shelf, I think it's the Italian and US flags and Mexican and US flags but I might be mistaken."

Her smile was bright as she nodded to the boy. "Mercy will help you out. If you aren't sure where you are check out the decorations and they should help." Jessie jerked her head upwards to indicate the stars and planets hanging along with the space shuttle with the astronaut riding it like a cowboy. There were also other hints that they were in the space section since the bookends were all themed. "Every section has such theming so
just explore and I'm sure you won't get too lost... or if you do you atleast will have fun while you're doing it. Not that Mercy can't help you out." She added before she shifted her books and got another bright idea, "You wouldn't want any romances would you?"

Well, the stacking could wait, Mercy supposed. She waited patiently for Ms. Jessie to finish querying the man, and when she was called upon, she quickly moved to him and gave him a small curtsey. "I'm Mercy, if you'd just follow me!"

She spun quickly - actually quite pleased that she was still wearing her Crystal Uniform. Most of her other shoes weren't as easy to turn in and required more forethought.

Turning to look over her shoulder and make sure he was following, Mercy quickly led the man to the shelves that Ms. Jessie had suggested. "Here you go! English Translations!" She motioned at the stacks with a hand, standing to the side so as to not get in his way.

"Can I help you find anything else?"

Listening to the first one he nodded his head, translator...that would work. He needed to learn the language, hard as it might be, it was a need in order to survive in this city. Looking up at the hanging decorations he seemed to understand that they meant something and it sort of fell in place what they meant, what other purpose could they serve but to tell him what area he was in? She had made a point of pointing them out, several of them, so he had to assume their meaning and figure he was correct in it.

At the mention of the word lost he again shook his head, it wasn't something he wanted to be, but it seemed he needn't worry as another girl approached and seemed to want him to follow her - so he did. Following her he glanced up above them before looking to the shelves they stopped in front of.

"Korean..to English?" He questioned hoping she would be able to help him. "Good one." He wanted something that was a bit more, or a lot more, than basics. he knew he would be getting help in school but he needed the extra help, more to work on when he was home and not in school or when not doing homework on the subject. He had picked up Japanese rather quickly so he hoped he could do the same here if he applied himself correctly, meaning if he threw himself into it head first.

"Any books...in Korean?" He asked, his English broken but he hoped the question came across. if they had, or could get, any books in Korean for him to read he'd be thankful. There wasn't likely to be any bookstores that dealt in Korean only books.

Mercy had to think on that for a moment, and quickly moved to the shelf herself, looking along the line of books, she quickly found the Korean to English section (it wasn't very large) and started to look at the options. After a few minutes of debate, she picked up the one she figured would be best, and handed it to him.

"This should suit your needs!" She said with a smile. A smile that started to falter when he asked if they had any books in Korean. This caused her to hold up one finger and run to the end of the stacks peeking around it.

"Ms. Jesse! Do we have any books in Korean?"

Jessie had happily taken the front counter as Mercy went to help the boy. She had a stack of books to try to find homes for and the first stop was the computer. It took a surprising amount of paperwork to find a good place to take the books. Not only legal stuff but also the leg work to locate a good home; did the library need these books? are they appropriate for a shelter or any other kind of literacy charity? Of course they would be offered to her own little family of staff first but then they needed to go out to the hands that could use them the best.

The brunette bibliophile had gotten lost separating the books into various piles, mostly her own stack to keep and the others, so it wasn't until Mercy called out that she even looked up. "Hun?" She had missed the first part but caught the tail end of the question. "Books in Korean?" Did they? Jessie's brow furrowed as she mentally shuffled through her mental inventory... and came up empty. This bugged her alot.

"Check in Fiction if we have any at all." She replied as her fingers drummed a rapid staccato on the wood counter, annoyance practically spilling off of her. "It's not something we are normally asked for. I think we've gotten a few spanish ones, maybe a french..." She trailed off as she remembered something. Bounding off her stool Jessie raced up the stairs into her apartment where Mercy and the customer could here quite a bit of commotion. Muffled curses were followed by thumps and bumps, there was even a loud shout of 'oh no' with a crash right after. But surprisingly Jessie was back down in the store and in front of the two kids after just a few minutes had passed. Disheveled, out of breath, and a little sore... but triumphant.

Clutched in her hands was a thin little blue book with iconic artistry on the front. "The Lion King... in Korean." She held it up proudly. "I found it in a used bookstore a long time ago and picked it up. Always figured I would learn it but never did get around to it."

The one book offered him was opened, even as the female darted off to the end of the isle and peeked around it. Flipping the pages he did find it to be what he needed, hopefully anyway. He hoped it would help him with his needs, as they were rather extensive. He had a lot to learn and he wanted to do whatever he could, use whatever resources he could, to try and help himself. He didn't want to just rely on his school and the help they offered, they weren't there when he needed help with homework or other things. He needed help for more than just school.

Walking up behind the girl, Mercy, he peeked around also before stepping into sight of the shops other worker. The book he'd been given was held down at his left side. he would be taking this book. he'd also grabbed another which was also held by the same hand at his left side.

Looking surprised as the other worker was now dashing off, to who knows where, he was surprised and concerned buy the sounds he soon heard from above them. Concerned eyes found Mercy and silently questioned if the other woman was alright. But it seemed he needn't wait for an answer as the woman did return and seemed, as his eyes looked her over, unharmed. She also had a book in her hands that she was holding up with some bright look upon her face. Looking over it he read the title with ease and found himself smiling. Maybe not his usual type but it was something and he took it slowly, the words she said, the last ones, he understood.

"You want to...learn...Korean?" He asked her slowly, his words over pronounced and choppy as he carefully spoke each one, giving thought to them before they left his lips. "I can help." He was more than willing to help, though it might be a bit odd, who better to help if that was what she'd indeed said; and he was fairly certain she had. Adding the book to the other two, slowly, he was happy to have a new book to add to his collection.

Jessie passed over the children's book with a smile, glad that she was able to find exactly what the young man needed. Granted it was a kids book but it atleast was what he had asked for. "Yup I thing it would be intresting language to learn." She smiled as she directed both the young man and Mercy towards the front counter.

"Sadly since that particular book is a personal book I can't sell it too you," she smiled softly as she added, "but I'm willing to trade you. Help me learn Korean and you can have it." Jessie had actually made such deals before and didn't think anyone would have issues with it again. Especially since he had already said he was willing to help her learn.

Mercy followed but remained silent. After all this was between the customer and Ms. Jessie and therefore she had no reason to interject into the conversation. Still, she had never taken Ms. Jessie to be one to learn other languages but then again - it made a strange kind of sense to her.

Ms. Jessie loved books and books fostered learning therefore Ms. Jessie loved to learn. Easy-peasy.

Mercy kept her hands behind her back as she stood and waited to be directed to do something.

"Can keep book if I can read it. I will teach you Korean." He answered in that halting, hesitant, way of his. He had a ways to go and confidence to build in the language he was learning, had learned a bit of back home. He had never needed to speak English before so what he had learned had sort of just...gotten beyond rusty. His Japanaese was a bit rusty but not like the bit of English he knew.

His dark eyes than moved to the younger, Mercy. "Would like to learn also?" He offered. He doubted it would come in handy for them, though it might depending on what field they went into and where they traveled, but it would look good on a resume right? Saying you knew another language, even if it wasn't a common one. It did show some character traits, as it wasn't always easy to learn another language. He wouldn't mind teaching some people anyway.

"Then it's a deal." Jessie smiled and politely took his book selections. It was just a matter of a moments before she rang him up, with an discount since the trade of the book for the lessons wasn't quite even, and was slipping the books into a plastic bag. She grabbed one of the business cards she kept in one of the many drawers in the counters. It had the store name, email, number, and address on one side with a dragon reading a book on the backside. "Here is the store card. Just give me a call when you get a chance and we can discuss times for the lessons."

The brunette smiled at Mercy. Jessie hoped the young girl would take him up on his offer since it was always a good idea to learn a different language. "We can even have the lessons here if you want to learn too Mercy."
