:Quest #6: Heads Will Roll:

Description: Hand-to-eye coordination is pretty important, these days... Which is absolutely just a convenient excuse to play skeeball. Two birds, one stone.

Goals:

Step One: Gotta get into the zone! Start by warming up with some stretches.
    Roll 1d4:
    1. Loosened up your shoulder! You can adjust any 2 roll up or down by 1.
    2. About average arms! No adjustment!
    3. Got your wrist all ready! Adjust any 1 roll up or down by 1.
    4. Woah, what an amazing job! Adjust 3 rolls up or down by 1.

Step Two: Roll 9d6! Each dice is a ball. You may roll them all at once, or separately, or a few at a time. It's up to you!

    1. The ball goes into the 10 point bucket. Nice!
    2. No points for this ball!
    3. 20 points for this!
    4. Nice, 40 points!
    5. 30 points for this ball!
    6. Wow, 100 points for this bucket!

At the end, tally up how many points you got!

First time doing this quest? Please write a minimum of 200 words for 1 Arcade Token.

If you get 50 points: you get the 1 token.

Megan found herself back at the arcade in no time. It seemed this was now her default thinking spot in the mall. Having reported Rebecca's death into the radio to the leads, she didn't have much else to do in her usual reporting capacity. Well, short of a full debriefing, that is. Continuing to repeat her report on the radio seemed a lost cause, since it felt like those two brothers were hell bent on laughing through it every time. Even her first, panicked messages into the radio, Dasz had turned out into a stupid sex joke so no one took it seriously.

Stupid kid. Megan growled bitterly under her breath as she hit the switch on the skeeball machine. She made sure to get in a good stretch to release her tense muscles before she could take out her frustrations on the machine. She wasn't likely to get another 500+ score, but hey, it's good for stress relief.

The first few balls rolled from the dispenser and she picked one up, testing it's weight. The wooden sphere was dense, and pitted all over with dents and chips from years of bouncing into plastic buckets. If it was varnished originally, it was worn off a long time ago. She twirled it in her fingers twice before launching it down the lane. The first one took the brunt of her frustration, and bounced high into the 10 point bucket. The second, a smoother ball with a little more heft, bounced off the inner buckets and into the 10. The third and fourth followed, much to her annoyance. 40 points in four balls. She wasn't great at this game, but she didn't usually suck this much.

So she decided to take it a little slower with the rest. The fifth ball, smoother and just a tiny bit lighter than the previous balls, flew down the lane and bounced loudly into the 20 point bucket. An... improvement? Sometimes it felt like these stupid balls were magnetized. She tossed the sixth ball into the same bucket without gauging it first, and the seventh followed after a cursory vertical twirl. A hundred points in seven? Still bad.

This wasn't working. The low score was just making her more frustrated on top of what brought her here. She wasn't about to let this stupid game best her. The eighth ball seemed like it hadn't been treated as roughly as it's fellows; she rolled it more gently, and it hoped into the 100 point bucket with a satisfying thunk. Much better. The final ball was smoother still. She rolled it between her hands, trying to gauge its weight. It felt evenly centred - no, just slightly off. She sent it down the lane with the slightest flick of her wrist.

It rolled directly into the 100 point bin without so much as a bounce. There we go. There was no such thing as a stress that couldn't be worked through with a bit of concentration. 300 points, even.
