Monica was jogging with her supplies again. The last hole she'd repaired had spooked her, after all. And now that she had the authority to do this (whatever that meant), of course Monica wanted to ensure that their home was secure.
She was sticking within the fence this time. Just in case, she thought. Because what if zombies did get inside? There was no way Monica was gonna let them get actually inside. The wall needed a new coat of paint...but paint was just one thing they no longer had funding for. Wait, there - there was a pipe visible. Monica had to cover it up. Sure, pipes were useful, but that didn't mean anyone needed to be stealing the prison's. Or that any undying needed to be able to get inside the walls. How thick were they, after all?

So she grabbed bricks and wooden planks and a hammer and a handful of nails and screws. She didn't really care what sizes they were: they just needed to be able to fasten things together. Beggars really couldn't be choosers in the middle of an apocalypse. It was mostly a collection of stuff they'd salvaged, anyway.
Then she ran back, as quickly as she could while she was loaded down with all this stuff brimming out of her bag. She didn't want the opportunity to be lost, after all!
But it didn't look like anyone else had even noticed the issue. Well, that was fine. Everyone had a job, after all, and this one was Monica's! But it was a little more dire than the little baby hole she'd plugged up earlier today. That made it worrisome: what if there were other, bigger defects in the perimeter that she simply hadn't noticed? She certainly hoped not. She put two bricks next to the exposed pipe, just to cover the area, and then built a little house around them with her wooden boards. Monica wanted it to be twice as hard to get to through this particular weakness in their defenses. Besides, she'd seen people kick wooden boards in half like they were nothing, before. Though the skill wasn't a common one, surely her boards would do better with some support behind them? And no one could get at the pipes and hurt the prison's supply of running water. This was the best sort of plan, and Monica was glad she'd come up with it.
She smoothed over the rough edges again, wondering whether they had any wood varnish left over.
