Continued after this rp

Bimini's magic, though it had faded the pain away almost completely, had not actually healed her wounds in any way nor stopped the slow but constant trickle of blood from pouring down her back. It was quite lucky it was as late (or early) as it was as Juno wobbled up the steps of her apartment building and through the door of her particular apartment. It wasn't until she reached the actual shower that her blood soaked and dripping fuku suddenly disappeared and Aitana leaned against the tile wall, her arms beginning to shiver as the last bits of adrenline left her body. Bimini's magic was wearing off and the pain of the battle was returning, she could feel the ache of where bruises would form and the tightness of her throat where she had been punched. But none of it compared to the flare of pain coming from her back, a hiss escaping her as the water stung her open wounds. She remained nonetheless however, her eyes wearily on the shower floor waiting until the water turned from red, to pink, and finally clear.

Aitana had the presence of mind to go to her front door and clean away the trail of blood droplets that might the draw suspicion or attention of nosy neighbors but she did not bother with the interior of her apartment. It would not hurt the wood and tile floors for the blood to stay there for the evening, and she'd deal with it in the morning. One unsuccessful attempt at reaching her back with a cloth covered in peroxide also lead her to the decision that she would leave that for the morning as well, tossing the rag to the floor in frustration.

She was just too tired. So tired. Battle fatigue and blood loss weighing heavily on her body. Approaching her bed she fell upon it face down with gusto and it was only moments before she was out.

---------------------

The afternoon sun streamed through the windows of Aitana's studio apartment when she finally stirred from her sleep, her fingers instinctively grasping the sheets when pain shot through her back as she tried to move.

Any hopes she had that things would be better when she woke up were clearly dashed.

She had been asleep for almost 12 hours. Her throat ached for water and ice, her back raged with fire with every breath or attempted movement, a soft sheen of sweat covered her body - evidence of the fever that was starting to overtake her. Slowly Aitana tried to push herself up in an attempt to get up only to sink back down when the blood rushed to her head sending a wave of dizziness to her head and nausea to her empty stomach. ********. ******** ******** ******** ******** ******** wasn't until after the 30th or 40th curse that Aitana's hand began to slap around for the bed stand nearby and the phone that rested there. Once her hand finally found it she fiddled around with it for a moment before sending a set of texts to Rob:

To Rob
Hey, I am really starving. Do you think you could bring some food to my place?

I live at 12 Washington Blvd - Apt 4.

Door is unlocked.

Texts sent she melted back into her bed with a groan and hiss.

Her apartment was nothing special, a decent sized second floor studio apartment. Sparsely decorated or furnished but not unpleasant. It had the distinct aire of a bachelore pad, a little on the messy side but not a disaster, and there were a few touches that were distinctly Aitana - sports equipment in one corner the room, a small display of ribbons nearby, a few Brazilian knick knacks from home thanks to her mother. The kitchenette could be seen through a partial half wall and nearby that the only door lead to a bathroom.

In the one room apartment it was not hard to find Aitana, stretched out across her bed at the furthest corner of the room. Nor was it hard to see the lines of red streaking down her bare back even from afar. Five lines, deep and thick running from her shoulder blades almost all the way down to the small of her back, a gift from the panther-esque youma she'd turned her back to. Already the area around the wound was beginning to puff and redden from strain and the beginnings of an infection.

His arrival was greeted with a small amount of shifting as she tried to get up once again and a simple and raspy, "Hey. What did you bring?"

Aitana is extremely sorry if he thought this was a booty call. She wishes it were a booty call. >w<

Rob whistled to himself as he climbed the stairs to the second floor of the apartment building, carrying a plastic bag which contained takeout containers of delicious Indian food and basmati rice. The texts from Aitana were more than welcome. Ever since their tryst in the basement studio of his house, he'd spent about half his waking hours thinking about the tall Brazilian girl. He figured this was what the Americans called a "booty call" -- she was ready for a repeat performance. Well, so was he. He hoped her neighbors were patient about noise.

Looking at the apartment doors, he finally located #4. She'd said the door would be unlocked, so he tried the knob and opened it easily. "Hey love," he called as he entered, then in response to her question, "I've got some lovely take-away curry --"

Then he saw her on the bed, and more crucially saw the angry red lines raking down her exposed back. "Oh my god…" Dropping the bag containing the food on the floor, he quickly crossed the room and knelt next to the bed. "Aitana!" Touching her arm, he leaned in and took a closer look at the dreadful marks on her back. It looked like it was starting to get infected, the skin around them puffy and sickly red. Not good.

"What the hell happened?" he half-whispered, moving to shift a stray braid off her face.

The sound of the food hitting the floor was enough to make her jerk, attempting to shift enough to look back and see what the noise had been. She didn't get very far however, a hiss escaping her lips before she gave up. "Did you seriously drop the food?" Priorities.

Well... not really.

Aitana's fridge and tiny cupboards were actually decently stocked, and if she was that starving she probably could have forced herself there. So while she was indeed hungry and would have liked to eat, it was far from the only reason she'd texted the Brit.

It took a mere moment for him to reach the bed, and when he did, she smiled tiredly, happy to see him. "Is okay. I have dealt with worse before." Maybe she even had - between cuts, broken bones, and magical arrow wounds. But all of those the Brazilian had been able to doctor herself when necessary.

Clearing her throat a bit, flinching a little at the tenderness of it, her fingers reached to brush against the hand that had brushed back her hair. "Negaverse Captain snuck up on me while I was fighting youma, and I was idiot and forgot about youma while fighting the Captain. Is dead now though, no big deal."

And then she pressed again, a soft frown touching her face. "Is the food all wrecked?" Okay so maybe food was a priority. # 1 - Rob # 2 - food # 8 or 9 - the injuries on her back that he seemed concerned with.

"The food's fine, love," Rob reassured her, glancing over at the plastic bag on the floor. It was classic Aitana to be less concerned about her injuries than she was about anything else, including her empty stomach. "I'll get it for you in a minute. Let me look at those scratches first."

Clearly she had no idea how bad the marks down her back looked, he decided as he examined them more closely. Yeah, they looked like they were becoming infected, all angry red and puffy. Not good at all. Tentatively he touched the skin close to one of them and felt how warm she was. Probably had a bit of a fever too from them.

Rob was no medic, but he had tended his own injuries on many an occasion after a fight. None of them were as gruesome as the injuries on her back, though. But some of them had been pretty deep cuts, administered by broken bottles and knives. There was no need to take her to hospital, at least not yet. He could tend to these himself, at least stop the infection from spreading and becoming septic and toxic to her.

Gently he stroked her forehead, feeling the slight touch of warmth there. "Right. They're pretty nasty looking. Do you have any peroxide?"

"Yeah, okay.." She agreed after his reassurance, settling more comfortably against the bed once more, an arm moving to prop lightly under her cheek. Her eyes tried to follow him, but she remained dutifully still to allow for inspection.

When his fingers pressed against his skin, as gently as it was, she was able to conceal the hiss that wanted to escape her, but not the involuntary flinch against the pain. It was good the discussion of a hospital hadn't come up, because that would have created a quick argument. Aitana, like many people, had a severe distaste for them. Especially after her handful of stays since becoming a senshi.

Having Rob there was nice, a gravelly but contented sigh escaping her sore throat as he stroked her forehead, and when he asked about the peroxide her free hand lifted pointing past the half kitchen to the doorway. "In bathroom is peroxide and bandages."

The benefit of a fairly unfurnished apartment was that there wasn't much clutter. The peroxide was settled on the bathroom sink where she'd left it, the rag from the night before still strewn across the ground from her annoyed flinging of it. Some other towels and rags hung from a simple towel rack. Below the sink a cabinet contained a small collection that seemed to be a strange mixture of either hair products or medical stuff. Aitana was fairly adept herself patching up wounds on the fly and had a small collection of the necessities. It was probably a requirement anymore for magical girls and boys. Really it made more sense for Guardian cats to hand out medical kits instead of phones.

His gaze following the direction her free hand pointed, Rob nodded. "I'll be right back, love." He kissed her forehead, then stood and crossed the small apartment to the bathroom. He found the peroxide easily, along with the rag. Apparently she had tried to disinfect her injuries herself -- a tough task given their location and size. Rummaging under the sink, he located the bandages and some other medical supplies. It appeared she was well stocked for treating herself. He'd look at the rest of that stuff later, to see if there was anything else he could use; right now the important thing was to get the wounds cleaned out and closed up.

He returned to Aitana's side and set his load down on the floor next to the bed. Opening the peroxide, he poured a goodly amount on the rag. "This is going to sting a bit," he warned, then applied the peroxide-soaked rag to her back, where it foamed vigorously in the infected gashes.

"I am very tough." She reminded him, quite proudly in fact, when he gave his warning.

Living up to that toughness was harder said then done as the rag touched her back. The muscles of her back and shoulders tensed immediately at the sudden fire of bubbling within the deep wounds, all of the air escaping her lungs in a quick whoosh of surprise. It took a moment of labored huffing for air to return to her and her breathing remained in mild huffs and hisses as she tried not react more visibly. She was trying to be tough, but her squirming and flinching body did not paint that picture very well.

There was one thing for sure though now - she was ******** awake. And unhappy. The hand connected to her arm pillow clenched the sheets tightly her mind shifting to the Captain she'd been fighting the night before - suddenly wishing she'd hurt him a hell of a lot more before Bimini had happened upon them.

When the bubbling hiss hadn't subsided even after a full minute of assault on her back she sighed heavily, seeming to have finally gained a tiny bit more of the gravity of the situation. "I will have to call off work for a few days...?"

"Yeah, I'm afraid so," Rob nodded, watching the fairly violent foaming of the peroxide as it did its job. Aitana was definitely a tough one, he had to give her credit for that; he'd be howling and hissing and writhing if the same thing were being done to him. He'd had some bad injuries in fights, but nothing like this.

Taking the rag in his hand, he dabbed gently at the wounds to soak up some of the peroxide and squeezed a little bit more on her back. This was going to take some time. Standing, he went to retrieve the plastic bag containing the curry and rice from the floor; at least he could put the food in the kitchen so it's be ready when she was finally ready to eat. He checked to make sure it was still intact, and satisfied that it was, headed for the kitchen to place it on the kitchen counter. One little thing taken care of.

Then he went back to Aitana's side and examined the wounds again. The foaming was finally lessening a little -- of course, that could mean that the peroxide was a little spent. He dabbed at the gashes with a corner of the rag. "How are you doing, love?" he asked.

"Is good I have money saved then. I will be bored though." She answered, her voice a mixture of annoyance and pain. It was harder to keep quiet when she spoke, a uncharacteristically vunerable whimper escaping her before she slide her face from her arm into the bedsheets. Maybe she could just suffocate herself in them to escape both the pain and indignity. That'd be great.

In truth the whole thing was her fault. If she had just killed the youma right away instead of toying with it, hitting it over and over with her ball just for amusement, then it would not have still been there to blindside her when the she fought with Umber. But Juno had a bad habit of being playful unless she was really riled up about something. And she was always careless and proud to the point of stupidity. Had it not been for Bimini the night before there was a good chance she wouldn't have made it out of that fight with starseed intact. What would Rob think if he texted her one day and she just... never responded again? Gone without a word.

She remembered what happened to her when she'd been left without a word by someone she cared about. It might not be the same for him.. he might not care as much as she had cared. But... what if he did? Amid all his exterior toughness he really was so soft. And if the roles were reversed, if he were the one that was suddenly gone.... Aitana was glad that her face was pressed into the sheets at the moment because the expressions touching her face as she thought were not ones she particularly wanted him to see.

His words when he came back to check on her drew her out of her thoughts and she shifted so that her own words weren't muffled by the bed. "I will live."

"Would be preferred if pain stopped sooner instead of later." She added, a joke so lame that even she didn't laugh at it.

Rob, however, did laugh, a slight chuckling snort as he continued to dab at the wounds. Even in such desperate pain as Aitana must have been in, she could still make an attempt at a joke.

"It'll stop eventually, when the endorphins kick in again." It must have hurt like hell to make her way home from wherever this fight had been. Of course he had only the scantest of details about it, just what she had told him, but it sounded like it had been brutal. Two against one tended to be. Still, as the adrenaline rush from finding her in this state faded, he was surprised at how concerned he was for her. Yeah, she was a tough girl, both as Aitana and as Juno. But he couldn't imagine how he'd react if anything really serious happened to her. More to the point, he could imagine it. And he really didn't want to.

To take his mind off that particular train of thought, he paused in his dabbing and studied the wounds again. The puffiness had gone down just ever so slightly, but that could have been due to the coolness of the peroxide. If only he had some salve of some kind… Then he remembered seeing some antibiotic ointment in the cabinet beneath the sink. Getting up, he strode to the bathroom and retrieved it, then quickly returned. Very gently he began to apply it directly to the gashes with his fingers. He hoped it would help with the pain as well as with the infection.

"This should help," he reassured as he gingerly spread the ointment around. "I'll close them up after I'm done." He wasn't sure there were enough bandages in the world to close up those wounds, but butterfly sutures would work just fine.

"And I'll come over to keep you company while you're laid up. And feed you."

The fact that he laughed was enough to put a smile on her face, head shaking the tiniest bit. She hoped it would stop, or at the very least dull. She was already terribly bored of simply laying in her bed, and she'd only been awake for like an hour.

The peroxide was by far the worst of it. The ointment, as it was applied, didn't sting nearly as bad as the bubbling liquid that proceeded it. It was in fact almost soothing in the fact that the wounds could no longer dry out or tighten. Aitana was in fact fidgeting once more, like a child who had been put in time out, while she waited for him to put on the ointment and eventually bandages. She was awake, and Rob was there, and she was tired of laying, and if he wasn't careful she was bound to push herself far further then she should have.

"You will not be busy doing things? I could probably walk to your house too. If I need bandages changed or something..." He'd offered himself already, so she wasn't entirely sure why she felt a little bit like she was imposing. "I'm sure it will not take long." Always optomistic.

Rob felt her fidgeting beneath his fingers and smiled. "I will make myself available for you. It won't be an inconvenience. All I'd be doing is busking anyway." Smoothing ointment into the last crevasse of her wounds, he wiped his finger on his shirt and sat back to meet her gaze. "Now all that needs doing is the bandages put on."

He reached for the box of bandages and opened it. There were quite a few in there, of various sizes. Hopefully there were enough. "Right, now, stop squirming." Pulling a bandage out of the box, he peeled it open and carefully applied one end to the skin at the edge of the gash nearest him. He pulled the gash closed and stuck the other end of the bandage to her skin, effectively making a padded butterfly suture. He hummed softly as he applied the next one, and the next, and so forth until the first wound was closed and bandaged.

Then he had a thought. "Tell you what -- I'll bring round my guitar and serenade you while you convalesce. How would you like that?"

"I do not know what is convalesce. But I would like guitar and serenading next time."

Her fidgeting didn't stop completely but it stilled a little bit, dutifully, when he told her to stop squirming - being replaced with exaggerated huffs and puffs. It was less about pain any more, not that it didn't hurt - it most certainly did hurt in a throbbing pulse as her skin was manipulated. But she was just done. Done being hurt, done being bored. Ready to move onto something else more exciting. It wasn't his fault that trying to play McGuiver with the bandages was taking time. Prior to the next change they would probably need more bandaids, but atleast Rob could choose something fitting instead of making do.

It was while he was working on the second or third gash that her noises of frustration slowly faded. And after a moment of silence she made an obvious observation, the words laced with solemnness and sincerity. "You are good friend..." When was the last time anyone other than her mother, a coach, or a doctor had tended to her wounds and injuries? She was pretty sure it was never. Not even Coralie had ever done such a thing.

And for some bizarre reason that made her smile. Not because no one else ever had, that was pretty sad and pathetic. But because she felt very lucky that Puck had happened upon her that one day. And that he'd been stubborn enough to not leave when she'd told him to keep out of her fight. As Rob continued on with his task she was pondering over what she could possibly give or do for him in return.

Rob looked up from his work at the sincere statement. "Thank you," he smiled at her, "I try." He returned to bandaging Aitana's wounds, feeling all warm and happy inside. "You're a good friend too." And it was true, she was. Beyond the awesome sex, he really did consider her one of his dearest friends. He wouldn't do this for just any old acquaintance, clean and salve and bandage injuries this bad; he would have taken them to hospital and that would have been it. He felt a closeness and a kinship with her that went beyond their connections as senshi. They were a good fit for each other, in many ways. He was lucky, he thought, that he had encountered her that one evening beating up that Negaverse captain and youma.

Finishing up the fourth gash, he moved on to the fifth and last. "Almost done." He was running out of bandages, too -- he'd have to run to the drugstore and pick up a roll of gauze and some medical tape for when he changed the dressing next. "Then we'll sit you up and I'll get you your food."

He started humming again as he applied the bandages and sealed up the deep injury. "So, what kind of music do you like?" he asked. He wanted to make sure he played the right stuff when he came over and serenaded her while she rested and recovered.

"Hmmm... anything not boring I guess." Which probably meant anything except some really drab classical or really sappy and slow love songs. And even if it was... if he was the one playing it she'd probably give it more of a benefit of the doubt then she normally would. "I am sure whatever you play will be fine. Just do like you are busking."

"I will even give you money." She joked after a minute, snickering a little as she imagined slipping dollar bills playfully in his waist band instead of his guitar case - even though she most certainly knew how street performing worked.

It really was a shame her back hurt as much as it did or else she'd have plenty of suggestions of how to pass the time.

As the last of the bandages was placed Aitana began to shift again, more than ready to be up whether he objected or decided to help her. It was uncomfortable to say the least, but his patch job held firmly against the shifting of her shoulder and back muscles. It was truly a job well done. And already her mind was elsewhere glancing towards the kitchen as she looped an arm around his across his shoulders. "I have not had curry for a little while." She was almost as excited about that as she was just hungry in general.
