It was Shauns turn to hand out rations, and it was the first time he was allowed to do it without express supervision. He was pleased for the opportunity – he knew that it meant that he was trusted and respected in the prison, enough to be entrusted with this task alone. Being trusted was a nice feeling, and not one he was used to – after all, he'd been a theif and a liar his whole life. Even those people who trusted him to get them into and out of things had kept a close eye on their little imp-for-hire, especially when he was near their belongings or pockets. No, he had never had much trust, and he'd never been much for trusting himself. These days, though, trust and respect were the best things he owned, and the best things he had to offer. And this duty meant that he had a nice amount of it.

In all, Shaun did a good job of portioning out the rations just right to each person, giving them a smile and a nod as well just for extra specialness. It was about midway through that he noticed an oddity – someone, apparently, had left without their food. It hadn't been there long, and Shaun could even tell who it was. Someone was jonesing for a fight, apparently, over some sort of argument or whatever – Shaun had no idea what it was about, but he knew he should at least mention that someone had left their food on the table... after all, he didn't know what he was supposed to do with it, other than give the portion to someone else.

“Hey...” he tapped the Jailbird's shoulder with a long-handled spoon as the line slowed to watch them argue – at some point, clearly, someone would be encouraged to drag them off to C block to work things out, but for now... “You left your rations. Maybe deal with this after you eat, huh?”

The jailbird blushed. “Oh, crud.” they gave their opponent a glare. “I'll see you in ******** C block, later.” they snarled, and stomped off.

The line began to move again, and things were well...

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER
Pale white skin with freckles, pale blonde hair and blue eyes – Shaun looks like a young, handsome, somewhat washed out young man. His face was rounder in his childhood, and elongated with puberty, but he still looks like the imp that he is and was, and his body is lean but muscular and very flexible. He has a cute teddy bear (or is it a monkey?) backpack that he uses to carry stuff in. Its really cute.

Shaun is mischevious, easygoing, and very friendly but he's also a little reckless by nature, especially when showing off his acrobatics. He needs people and does not do well alone, so he makes a great teammate and will be as helpful as possible, but ultimately he is out for himself.

“Hey Shaun, you mind doing cleanup duty?” asked one of the ladies helping Shaun out, “I've got a little date in the cells with my girlfriend, and...”

“I totally understand!” Shaun said cheerily, “Go on ahead, I actually like cleaning.”

“You're a wierdo, you know that?” she said affecitonately, “Well, here.” she handed him the supplies, “Go to it.”

He wasn't actually alone, of course – the mess hall was a big place to clean on one's own – but even one or two hands down made the work a lot more... massive. But Shaun hadn't been lying. He loved cleaning stuff up – there was something nice about taking something dirty and making it clean...

They worked as a team, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing away at the mess hall until it was pretty much mostly clean. And then, they called it a day... Man, though... Shaun wished he had a guy to take to the cells, though.

Ah well. He'd find someone to pester on the radio, at least...
