She had good news to share. Some great news, actually. To her, at first, the news had not been good…but it worked out in the end, and she knew one person who would really like to hear it: Harper. The trouble was finding her in such a large group of people, and with all the noise going on. Eventually though, she found the other woman, alone with a glass of water in the lounge.
"Hey." Corey called over the light noise. "Mind if I join you?"

Harper had taken a seat in one of the cushion booth chairs, one of her legs where drawn up to her chest as she kept turning the glass of water on the table. Despite getting her own collar off she still hadn’t earned enough coins to buy someone else, she still couldn’t even afford to buy her. There was regret in that she hadn’t done that first, she should have done that first. Harper was such an idiot. She didn’t even notice when Corey walked up, she was lost in her own world thinking about what to do. The voice made her jump, toppling the glass over on the table. “Corey!”

"Whoa!" Harper's startling and the sound of the glass hitting the table was enough to startled her too. Corey jumped a pace back, avoiding the clash of water, but found herself chuckling lightly. "Guess I scared you this time, eh?" She looked around for something to wipe the table with, and ended up pulling the fabric napkins from a nearby table to drop on top of the spilled liquid.
"Should I get you another one?"

“Sorry sorry I was off in my own world.” Harper’s face was a new shade of red as she picked up the glass. Taking the napkin Corey had obtained she moved it around trying to pick up whatever extra water was still on the table. It was soaked and all she was doing was making more of a watery mess than cleaning it up.
“No no its ok I wasn’t really drinking it anymore anyways.”

"No need to apologize! I understand, it's okay." She found a few more towels, just enough to cover the soaking wet ones, then paused. "I think that's good enough. I don't know why we're even bothering to clean up…I mean this place isn't exactly worth it…" Her expression pinched, almost regretting cleaning up. In fact, after a pause, she reached over and knocked the cup off the table entirely, and shattered it with one slam of her foot.
"There. Much better." She dusted her hands together, whistling proudly, and then put her hands on her hips. "Can I sit with you?"

Harper watched as Corey started to grab a few more towels to clean it up, she felt worse she made the mess and now someone else had to fix her problem. She was really just a troublemaker who couldn’t even make enough coins to save the people she cared about.
Still looking at the floor she didn’t even know what Corey had done until the glass shattered on the floor and her foot crushed even more. A look of shock was on her face as she stared at Corey, and then she started to laugh loudly.
“Yes much better and of course you can sit.” Scooting over she patted the seat next to her, for some reason Harper felt better.

"Still don't want that other drink?" Corey was grinning as Harper laughed, though instead of waiting for an answer she slid onto the offered seat. Her feet drew up onto the edge of the chair, turning one shoe to her to pick the glass out of the soles. There wasn't much, but it was satisfying enough.
"You've been avoiding looking at me lately." She commented idly, prying one of the bigger pieces from the rubber.

Harper still chuckling shook her head as Corey sat down next to her. “No no, the thought is tempting though. I can’t say when the last time I broke a glass on purpose but it somehow always makes me feel better when I see it happen.” She paused for a moment thinking about what she had said; it sounded more like a delinquent if anything. “I mean when it’s for the greater good, if you get it. I think.” She was going to stop talking about it now.
Her smile turned into a sheepish look as she watched Corey pick out glass from the sole of her shoe. “Yea… sorry. I am not… I am not really good at not opening my big mouth and I didn’t want to tell you… the truth is…. Argh.” Harper groaned rubbing her face in her hands; words were so hard even when she wanted not to speak them she wasn’t very good at lying either. “I feel bad, I feel really guilty so I wanted to get more coins. Somehow, you keep working so hard getting coins to help everyone else so I wanted to get enough coins so… so we... so I could get the collar off of you.”

"Well, if you ever decide you want to destroy some of the casino's property, let me know. I'd be happy to be a nuisance to them." Corey nodded, her chuckling tapering off here as a much more important subject: the way Harper was avoiding her. Once the glass in her shoe was flicked away, she lowered her feet again, and gave the other woman her full attention.
"Why would you feel guilty, though? Even airlines suggest you put your mask on before helping anyone else. Buying yourself first makes the most sense." She was really hoping to be reassuring, but she wasn't sure how great at it she was being at the moment. "And about the collar…well, someone beat us both to that."

Harper nodded giving her a small smile at the thought of destroying mote of the casino property. Maybe, maybe when they got everyone free they could totally wreck the place, but, that would be more of a dream than reality. What she really wanted to do was to free everyone and then burn the whole place down.
"I feel guilty because all I did was think about myself in the end. Buying myself first was just a safe route for me to get out as soon as possible leaving behind everyone else." Harper looked down at the ground ashamed , the pieces of glass glittered in the light. "You know they only tell you to... wait.... wait.... WHAT!"
Harper swung around looking at Corey in disbelief, her eyes looking for the red light that had hung around her neck. "Who, how, what...WHO!" Harper's mind overwhelmed with thoughts, she was overjoyed, confused, relieved all at once and her words couldn't even express it.

"Please don't feel guilty, Harper. Please." Corey pleaded for a moment, absolutely disliking the way she was beating up on herself. It was such an awful thing to see on such a kind person. However, more importantly, she wanted to watch Harper's reaction to her lack of collar. She was not disappointed at all. That reaction was more than she could have hoped for, and she offered her a crooked grin.
"Cecil. I almost slugged him for it, but here we are." She gestured widely.

Even though Corey asked her there was no feasible way that Harper could stop feeling gulity. Leaving anyone behind was wrong and she knew it.
Harper raised her hand, softly touching the spot where the collar was on Corey's neck."It's really gone, really really gone." Her eyes started to tear up as she the largest smile she could make was showing on her face. It didn't mean they were safe but it was a start and the fear of knowing Corey would have been left there dissipated.
Wrapping her arms around Corey's arm Harper pressed her forehead into the woman's shoulder trying to hide any sign of tears. "If Cecil wasn't so tall I would give him the largest kiss for what he did."
