Well it was done. He knew Hitsu would be mad but he also knew the faction needed their leader and Corey was just as eager to save everyone as he was. If left to chance she wouldn't have paid for herself, Cecil knew. He just needed to work a little harder to build up his coins to pay for himself. Where was Rook when he needed him? The guy seemed to have a good idea on how to play poker.

Corey had been informed that someone had bought her. Someone else had paid full price for her, likely at the cost of themselves. Shocked was certainly a word to describe her, but more accurately, she was livid. She was mad that someone sacrificed themselves for her, and she was mad at herself for being relieved. She was just mad. So she demanded to know the name of the person who purchased her, and it was both a surprise, and completely expected.
Cecil. ******** giant, teddy bear push over Cecil.
To say she stormed up to him was an understatement, but once she got close, she grabbed his shirt and pulled him down, to be more at level with her.
"What the HELL, Cecil?! Why?"

Cecil heard Corey's voice coming from across the casino. Honestly he couldn't find anywhere to hide fast enough, not that it would help. He stood above all the rest so his ability to blend in with the crowd was...difficult.
Turning to face his imminent doom he smiled and rose his hands defensively. "Corey I-" She had pulled him down to her level and he winced from the pain in his side, pressing a hand to the bandaged bullet wound. "E-easy." He continued to smile though it was obvious he knew he was in hot water.
"You should know why."

She realized belatedly that he was wounded. She knew that though, really she did. Maybe. Either way she didn't even flinch as he winced, because right now, in the wake of her anger over the situation, she felt he deserved it, at least a little bit.
"I'm no more important than any of you!" It was clear to her why he did it, but that didn't mean she agreed with him. "You should have spent it on yourself first, and then tried to help me!"

There was no getting out of this but the deed had already been done and Cecil wouldn't change his decision even if he could. "You are important. You are the leader holding everything together, Corey."
He eased a hand over the one holding his shirt, not trying to move her hand but just resting in there. "I knew as long as even one person had a collar on you wouldn't have paid for yourself. Am I wrong?"

"I'm just one person. Anyone can step up and do my job. Plus there's Charlie and Caroline. I'm not that necessary for you guys." Corey continued to argue, her grip not loosening as he reached for her hand, nor when it seemed he was content with just holding it there. His observation was spot on, and her anger faded away to a very careful deadpan. He was right, when it came right down to it.
"I would have. After everyone else." She grumbled, finally letting go of his shirt. Damn Cecil. Damn this beautiful man. "I'll make sure you get out of here too, no matter what." This was a promise, and the tone of her voice suggested that he shouldn't argue with her; arguing would be a bad idea.
"You did a stupid thing, Cecil. A stupid, risky thing. But…Thank you. I really do appreciate it."

"You seem to underestimate your value. Don't make me quote Mulan because I will." Her expression of anger had faded but his smile remained in place even as she continued to argue. Really he should have known the backlash was coming but he had anticipated he had a little more time to hide.
"I didn't want to risk it. But don't worry about me I'll be fine. Besides if I'm not around who will be there to help buffer Rook's sparkling personality." He knew he wasn't the only one buffering Rook, Charlie probably saw his fair share of the guy but in a way it was still a promise. He intended to leave this place. There was no way he was giving up.
"I know you won't leave any of us and that's exactly why I paid for your freedom. You look out for everyone before yourself." She kept saying it was stupid but he really didn't think it was stupid at all. Corey was the faction's best chance and if it was between the person that kept everything together and him well he was always going to make sure the faction would keep going.

"…I usually encourage that. It's Charlie that needs the buffer." She added, amused but grudgingly so, under her breath. It was easy to feel like a child compared to Cecil, but as he continued to hit the mark spot on, she felt more and more like she was being scolded, but in the best of ways. He clearly cared, and he couldn't have been more right with what he was saying. Her only argument made her sound like a broken record at this point.
"It's what I do. I don't expect special treatment for it…I just want us all to get through this and to safety, in one piece." The exhausted looking woman shook her head slowly, and then leaned up to wrap her arms around him in as tight of a hug as she would dare, what with his injury and all. Her height put her to just below his chest, but at least she was trying. Damn tall people.
"I think you need to quote Mulan anyway. Just in case." She hummed innocently.

" I know you don't expect anything and I want us all to get to safety too." He couldn't say that he wasn't a little surprised when Corey wrapped her arms around his middle. He held his arms aloft for a moment, uncertain what was happening until he finally smiled, an amused sound bubbling up in his throat as he wrap his arms around her shoulders. " Oh, you want to hear it anyway? Haha well. It sounds a bit cheesy now I guess but a single grain of rice can tip the scales. One man can be the difference between victory and defeat. Or...something like that." He hugged her close before loosening his grip but allowing her to stay as long as she wanted. " Its either that quote or the one about the Huns popping out of the snow like daisies I can't be sure what would work better at this point." He hoped she knew he was joking.
