Even after she managed to get the collar off herself, Dani couldn't shake this uneasy feeling. Just... who WERE these people? Why were they kidnapping people? Selling them? It just... it just wasn't right.
Though it didn't seem like the undead or undying were involved, something still felt off. She shuddered, remembering the man and woman, and how her choices had ended up not getting one, but both of them killed.
What was going to happen to them now? For those free, there was still so much uncertain, and for those who weren't...

Dani shuddered. There had to be some way to free everyone somehow...

Autumn had people to find. She wanted to leave this place as soon as possible, considering someone had been kind enough to buy her freedom. She was lucky and she knew it and she wanted to leave before they changed their minds. She just needed to find Joy Ann and Shaun before she left. Autumn walked quickly, looking this way and that, trying to see if she could find them.

She didn't even see the person she ran into. Well, she did turn her head back just in time for her mind to panic about the fact that there was a body in her path. Not a body, a living person. There was a difference here!

Autumn ran smack into her.

"Sorry!"

The sudden contact made her jump, and Dani let out a small yelp. Usually she wasn't so jumpy, but considering all things, and seeing someone being butchered alive before her, well, it had been a long day.
She whirled around, fearful that it was one of those weird attendants about to say how her coins had been void or something and she wasn't actually free, but upon seeing another person who didn't look like a Casino lackey, Dani let out a sigh of relief.

She glanced at the other woman's neck, and was pleased to see she wasn't collared. That meant she was free?
"N-no, it's alright! Sorry, you startled me."
Another quick glance around to see if they were being watched.
"I'm guessing you managed to free yourself too?"

It was clear the girl was nervous, and Autumn could more than understand that feeling. She was nervous, too. There was really no way they were going to be allowed to leave, was there? It was all a giant lie. It had to be.

"No, no," she said, trying to pretend everything was absolutely normal. When things were normal, people were polite. "I wasn't watching where I was going."

Her hand involuntarily went to her neck. "Well. I got lucky and someone else bought be. Or my freedom, at least." She didn't like the idea of being owned. This whole casino was a terrible place. Wrong, just so wrong. "Did you free yourself? How did you manage to scrape together enough coins?" Autumn still wouldn't have been able to pay for herself, and she'd been trying.

She hated that she was so jumpy. She was usually confident. Headstrong. And now... even the littlest thing gave her the jitters.
"No, it's fine... Just this whole situation..."
Dani trailed off, wondering just what was going to happen to them now. It wasn't something she wanted to think about, but it was something she needed to be aware of. Of course, her need to know more as well as her drive to push forward had both backfired on her today, so for now, she needed to be cautious. Attentive. She couldn't afford to make the same mistakes again.

"Oh, that's good. Whether it's by our own efforts or through help of another, I don't think this is the time to be proud. Not with lives on the line..."
Autumn's question made her flush, as she was embarrassed at how she had managed to scrap together the amount. Truth be told, she was lucky she wasn't on the more expensive side. Maybe it paid off that she was still a researcher's assistant. Not that... it'd be something she'd be proud of under normal circumstances.

"Ah, I... played Blackjack."
And by play, she really meant desperately kept trying to earn enough by playing in a way which would bring shame and dishonor on a true player.

"Yeah," Autumn said slowly, glancing around. "This place should have everyone on edge." The things they did here. It wasn't right. It wasn't proper. It was wrong and terrible. What they'd done to that woman.... What they would probably do to everyone here...

Autumn shook her head and forced her attention back to the conversation. "Lives on the line..." She nodded. "Nothing to be proud of, but we should try to get everyone out of here." She'd start with her friends, of course, because Autumn was selfish.

"Oh! Blackjack? I had one hand of that earlier, but it didn't go well. That's pretty great that it worked for you. Maybe I should try it again..." She frowned in thought. "Have you given anything else a try?" She wanted options, okay.

Dani nodded, not knowing what else to say. While she normally kept to herself, work keeping her busy, she found it was nice to have some company for a change. Someone to talk to to calm her nerves.
"It's not right. Lives are important. Why else do you think we're working hard on finding ways to cure illnesses and find treatments for diseases considered incurable before? It's... it's just not right..."
As a pathologist's assistant, she lived for research, yet the way they regarded human lives... it was sickening.

Well, she wouldn't blame Autumn for wanting to save familiar faces first. It was only natural, but she sincerely hoped they would be able to save as many as possible.

"Haha, yah... it was... quite a trial."
She wasn't sure if she should have mentioned it was a lot of false hopes and such, but... who knew. Luck was a finicky thing.
"I think there were slots, but the probability of a large payout for that is quite low, and... if memory serves me correctly, I believe there was another card game?"
There were others, but... she wasn't too sure about them. It was her fault for not paying attention/lacking interest in such things.

"O-oh! I'm sorry, where are my manners. I'm Danielle, by the way. Dani for shot."

"Nothing about this place is right," Autumn agreed. "Lives are... they should be important."

Autumn did her best to not dwell on what the people here did off the casino floor. So it was nice to talk about the gambling games instead.

"Ahh yeah. I tried the slots, and yeah. It wasn't much of a payout." She thought for a moment. "Oh, the poker? I haven't tried that either." She glanced in the direction of the poker tables.

"Oh! I'm Autumn. It's nice to meet you, Dani." She gave the girl a curious look. "You've been living at the University? I met someone else earlier who wore something similar to that." She pointed at the jersey Dani wore. There was no real point to her question. She was just curious.

She wasn't sure if these chance games would really help with accumulating coins quickly and she only wished she had a solution to all this but... for now, they had to make the best of what they had, which... wasn't much.
"I guess it doesn't hurt to try. I wish you the best of luck though."
Seriously, all of these. Dumb luck.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Autumn. And, oh! Yes." She glanced down at her jersey, forgetting she still had it on. "Oh?" Sadly, she didn't really know much of the others at the University, but she hoped the person she saw was free. Speaking of which, she did recall the older woman she had worked with for cleaning duty. Dani hoped she had freed herself. If not... perhaps there was a way she could help.
"Do you happen to know the name of that person? I just... remembered there's someone I want to help, so I should probably see if I can find them..."

Autumn had to laugh, even if a little sadly. "Thanks. I have a feeling we all need a little bit of luck to get out of here."

She thought for a moment. "Um, Matilda was her name. She'd been a teacher, I think. Is that her?" Autumn wanted to help if she could, even if it was just to confirm someone was still alive.

"Matilda..."
It wasn't a name she was familiar with, but she hoped they were safe now too.
"No... I think her name was Opal. I haven't known her long, but I know I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to her. I have to find her..."
She turned on her heel, pausing to give Autumn a small smile.
"Sorry, I have to go. I hope we'll be able to meet again."
With that, she rushed off.

"Oh." Autumn was a bit sorry she had not been of help.

"Good luck! I am sure you'll find her!"

She had people of her own to find, too.
