Alex had yet to see Brie in the mess that was the Casino since he had the collar removed. Juliette had been talked too, Sou, he was sure was safe. Rook too? He wondered.
But he hadn't seen Brie yet and he was getting nervous. When he finally saw her, he came over and tilted her chin up.
The collar was still there. It still had the bright amount needed for her coins. He worried about it. He worried about her. He was very upset.
"Brie." He looked at her, "Why?"

In the midst of running back and forth between all the events going on, she had little time to just sit and rest for a moment, let alone sleep or eat. She had managed to earn enough of the casinos currency to pay for one person so far, and that person was October. Did she regret it? No. She just knew that if she or someone else hadn't, he wouldn't have himself. He was too good to their faction members, and them losing one of their leaders, let alone a friend, she couldn't bare it.
Not realizing Alex was approaching, she nearly jumped when startled by appearance. "Alex, you startled me!" Least he could have done was call out first. But then again, she was jittery.
When Alex lifted her chin to inspect her collar, Brie lightly pushed his hand away, offering a shrug in response. "'Why' what?"

Of course he had. Startling her? When she was tired and running herself ragged to protect everyone but herself? He was upset. Tired, but mostly upset.
"Why do you still have this. I thought you had enough coins." He gave her a frown. "Who did you save first?"

Frowning, Brie folded her arms under her chest in a defiant manner. "I did. My goal from the very beginning was to pay for someone else first." She said, not at all upset with her choices. "October. You know how he is. He would have sacrificed himself before leaving anyone else behind if he had the option. Now he can't, and he's still able to help people."
Besides, she had got this far, if she kept at it, she could pay it off before the given time was up. She wasn't giving up yet.
"Think of it as motivation, to keep me going."

"Motivation?" He wanted to shake her. He wanted to ask her what she was thinking? Why couldn't she choose herself over others? He had! He had chose himself and then others. What good was saving others when you were still on the chopping block, so to speak!
"Brie." His voice faltered and he let his hands drop. The weight of the this was starting to drag him down. The feelings he was slowly developing for the girl? Even worse.
"October is a real good friend. I am really happy you saved him." But he looked at her, "But you are the most important person in here to me right now. If you had told me...I would've saved you first." He reached up to touch her cheek. "I'm just...I'm worried."

"But-" She froze, unsure of how to ask or how to even respond. All she knew was she could feel her face flush a little more. "I-I..No, because then you would have been left in this situation. I can get enough of the coins, I'm not done yet!" It didn't help matters when his hand was place on her cheek. Never once in her life had she had any sort of experience, and in the mix of all things, it was a little overwhelming.
Flustered, the girl backed away a little, pulling her hood over head, dropped into a crouch and rested her face on her knees. "I'm sorry, I can't do this right now!" Whatever it was, she was not prepared for it.

"That would've been fine for me." Alex nodded, "I would've gotten the coins myself too." They were both really stubborn like that after all. Her withdrawn action made him wince and then he tried to recover. His intention wasn't to scare or stress Brie out...
It wasn't his intention to add more to her plate-What was his intention really? Telling her he cared? Telling her she mattered? Stressing her, and himself out?
He knelt down and smiled. Even with all of this, he couldn't help the feelings.
"I know. I'm sorry Brie. I shouldn't have pushed you. Can you forgive me?" He tried to smile at her.

Even if that would be okay for Alex, it wouldn't be for her. She was used to paying her way, but when others wanted to pay her way for her, she couldn't accept. Or rather, she didn't know how to accept something like that. In result, it always just made for awkward situations for both her and them.
"It's not your fault, none of this is your fault." If anything, she was the one who was sorry. This reaction, a common one from her, could have easily hurt his feelings, or made them feel bad, and that wasn't her intention at all.
"You didn't do anything wrong, so you don't need to apologize. I'm.. I'm sorry, I need to go. "
Without much more to say, Brie hurried off, not giving Alex much time to respond.

Alex fell back on his bottom when she pushed up and watched her go. He remained sitting there for a bit and throwing his head back.
He had made Brie upset.
He threw his head back and laughed.
What a ******** day.
