After making sure Caroline was banned from the bar in any way, Corey put a similar ban on herself. It was time to get serious about this again; there were too many of her own out there, with their price tags still on their necks. She had an awful lot of work to do, but first: a trip to the bathroom.
Bladder taken care of and hands washed, she took a moment to stare at herself in the mirror. She did not like what she saw. The bags under her eyes, the weight she had lost from the last horrible month; it wasn't much, but she could tell. Gods, did she miss the person she was. Quickly, she decided she didn't like looking at herself anymore, and looked down, running the sink as cold as it would go. When she leaned over, it was to splash her face with the chilled water, enjoying the shock of the cold on her warm skin.

Too many drinks, Harper thought after abruptly standing up from the never ever game and heading to the bathroom. She was doing a half potty speed walk over to it, not even looking to how and what was in the bathroom. Instead she made a straight beeline to the first stall open, slammed the door shut and emptied her bladder. When she was done she went to wash her hands, pausing for a moment when she realized that Corey was standing at the mirror. She didn’t say anything at first; instead she washed her hands smelling the sweet scent of something familiar like lavender. The hot was refreshing but so was the cold water as she started to wash her own face. Grabbing a few napkins she patted down her face before giving a bit of a drunken smile to Corey as she leaned against the wall. Her head was swimming with thoughts but she kept them to herself. “I haven’t gotten a chance to talk to alone, how are you doing here?”

Corey had heard the other woman, but paid her no mind at first. She had just wanted to splash cold water on her face, and to try and rub her skin enough to stimulate blood flow again. Anything to wake her up, and to make her feel better. She had reached for some napkins herself after a moment, patting down the wayward drops.
Harper's voice made her jump, and forced her to remember - or perhaps realize - that she wasn't alone.
"Jesus - Harper, sorry, I didn't -" She shook her head lamely. "I'm doing alright. Between drinking and playing poker for ******** ever, I think we stand a shot. How about you? I see your tag's off…I'm honestly relieved." She smiled at Harper. Sincerely.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to make you jump.” Harper gave her a sincere apologetic look she hadn’t meant to scare her but she should have known. The whole casino gave her the creeps to be completely honest; going anywhere alone was probably questionable never know if they would just cart you away just because. “Have a lot of the university students been able to buy their way out? I keep heading back to the Blackjack hoping my luck will last so I can afford to buy someone else or at least help to.” She stepped closer, looking at Corey’s neck, the LED still showing her worth. “I am honestly more worried that you still have yours.” Harper’s face was dark with worry; she didn’t want Corey to end up saving everyone else but herself.

"It's okay. You're a welcome sight." Corey's smile continued on, right until it dropped, as Harper stepped closer to look at her neck. "We're not doing terribly. I think we'll be alright in the end. We'll do everything that we can, anyway." She paused, looking down at the slightly shorter woman, taking in her concern. It was nice to be worried about for a change, and the thought made her smile return, if only a little.
Her hand, still water-cold, reached out to brush very lightly against one of Harper's hands, then curled under her fingers enough to lift it. "You're sweet." She smiled, bringing her hand up a little higher, to kiss her knuckles. "I'm only holding off to make sure as many of us get out as possible."

Harper gave a little smile as Corey told her she was a welcome sight, but only for a moment as the look of worry about the rest of the teammates showed on her face. It only made her want to do more, anything to help the rest and anything to help Corey from worrying about all of them. Even more anything to keep Corey turning into someone else’s dinner, the thought of losing her here, to these people made her furious.
A light blush started to show on her face, as the cool touch of Corey’s hand brushed against hers, even more when she lifted them kissing the knuckles. Her lips sent a shiver down her back as Harper’s head was swimming from all the drinks from the game. “You know I’ll never forgive you if you don’t leave here.” She tried to look up at Corey but instead looked back down at their hands. A feeling of guilt washed over she knew that that the expression on her face was pleading with her, but she knew it was unfair of her.

The fury that flashed on Harper's face was surprising, but the concern that followed was touchingly sweet. Corey couldn't help her little smile, though she did somewhat regret that whatever was happening here, was happening now, instead of, well, before.
"Oh, I don't doubt that!" Corey laughed quietly, lowering their hands at a more comfortable level, though she refused to let go for now. "You're a spitfire. You'll probably hate me forever." It was not a joking matter, but she found it oddly amusing. "But - I would feel like a complete failure if I made it out, but most of them didn't." She could tell that Harper was upset, but she really had no other way to go about it. "We're trying to build a coin pool. I'm hoping we'll end up earning enough to save ourselves, and as many others as we possibly can.
"You can understand that, right? At least a little?"

Harper’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink as Corey laughed at her, even though she felt a little embarrass she couldn’t help but smile as she looked at the ground. The tile seemed to blur together as she tried to swallow down every emotion overwhelming her. Usually she was a little more level-headed but all the drinks from losing so much “Never Have I Ever” were catching up to her.
Wrapping her fingers tighter around Corey’s she shook her head slowly before giving a soft sigh. “That’s the worse part about it all, is that I do understand. Leaving anyone behind wouldn’t be right, and I know all this. At the same time I want to be selfish I want to tell you to get the hell out of this place. I mean… leaving you behind would hurt but asking you to sacrifice someone else you could help isn’t fair either.” The look on her face was miserable, Harper knew she just didn’t want to admit, and even less she didn’t want to be told it.

Oh, god, Harper was so cute.
Her gaze dropped to glance at their hands as she felt Harper squeeze her fingers, and then lifted slowly back towards her face. She understood what Harper was saying, she really honestly did; but there wasn't a good situation, at all. No matter what she did, she was damned. The best ending to this was so unlikely it almost hurt.
"Nobody is asking me to do this." She said quietly. "What kind of leader would I be if I didn't go down with the ship?" Her laugh was almost bitter, and quiet. Because she was unwilling to let go of Harper's hand, she only had one left with which to wrap around the other woman, sliding it around to press her hand to her lower back. It was a makeshift hug, but it was a hug nonetheless.
"I'm damned if I do, and damned if I don't. At least I'll know you'll get out okay."

Harper kept her gaze to the floor, a part of her wanted to well up with tears but she kept biting her lower lip telling herself that it would only make it even worse. Everything she was saying was already making her feel guilty and it was even worse saying it out loud to her. Maybe Harper shouldn’t have bought herself; maybe she should have used her own coins to get someone else. Stayed and went down in the ship with her instead of saving her own hide.
“No I mean… I know no one asked you to do this. No one would.” She laughed a short bitter laugh with her as she tried to put a smile on her face gazing up at Corey’s face. “You’re too caring and a really ******** awesome leader and everyone better know that.” Harper held her hand tighter, pressing her face into Corey’s shoulder as she gave her a hug.

"As weird as it is, that's exactly why I have to: nobody is expecting me to save them, and because they've put that much faith in me and themselves, I just…have to try. Weird, eh?" Her smile was sad, but it was still there.
"You're so sweet, Harper. You really, really are." She squeezed the girl, holding her briefly tighter against her. "So, if I don't make it out of here, I want you to do your best to keep going, okay? And for you to know that I'm very sorry. For everything." For putting them all in more danger than what was necessary, for the kiss and the closeness that probably made things worse (but that she would never regret), and, of course, for dying.

Harper gave a stifled chuckle as Corey said how weird it was. It really wasn’t thought, she didn’t want to expect Corey to save everyone before her but she almost did, not it was like she did say she had faith in her. It wasn’t in a way that she was demanding it, she just knew that it was how she was, and she spent more time thinking about the rest of them and Harper didn’t want that to change. It made her feel even worse knowing it was another burden on her.
Still keeping her face pressed into Corey’s shoulder she nodded once and then shook her head. Lifting her head up she shook it again. “Don’t, don’t say you’re sorry. If you want me to do my best from this point on you can’t say that. No matter if I lose you and everything goes to hell you can’t say you’re sorry for everything that has happened. I wouldn’t have changed anything, and if I had to do it again I still wouldn’t change it. Despite everything I am still happy it happened.” It was just as much as Harper’s fault to start with. She could have continued on, not chatting to others, not getting close to Corey but she did anyways. She could have avoided it all but she didn’t and Harper was no way going to regret it.

Harper's vehemence on the subject was noted with surprise. She could tell that Harper felt strongly about this, but somehow, she didn't expect her to be this passionate about it. The other woman was just full of surprises, and it would make her inevitable death all the harder to handle. She certainly did not regret what had happened (though she did regret the timing of it; couldn't this great thing have happened earlier?), but it would still make it much harder.
"Alright, alright. I take it back. I'm not sorry." She corrected herself quietly, smiling fondly down at the other woman. "Not one little bit." A small laugh, and she leaned down just enough to brush their noses together. "I'll just do the best I can to make sure you don't have to hate me forever." She promised, tilting her head enough to sneak a little kiss. "Fair?"
