Morning dawned over Laisidhiel, seeming like any other...except that a few select Faun awoke with a strange urge drawing them forth. It was a calling...a summons beckoning to them from somewhere below, reaching into their very core. They could attempt to fight the call, to go get breakfast, to do morning chores, but inevitably, they would give in and be drawn towards the meeting dais at the bottom level of the Great Tree. Several other Faun waited there, but no one seemed to know why they'd been called here.
When it seemed that no new Faun were appearing, an Earth Mellon floated in, eyeing the group before giving an approving nod, "Glad you all could make it," she squeaked. She couldn't help a smirk curl up her lips, "You all have been carefully chosen for a special competition. Take a look around to see your competitors and the possible winner of this Bachelor's heart!" she exclaimed, spinning with a flourish to gesture behind her where the Faun Chieftain, Rais, now entered.
Right on cue.
She seemed to eat up the gasps and mutterings going around the room at her announcement. She let it rumble for a moment before waving at everyone to calm down, “Now, now, before you get too excited you do have to realize only one of you can win. We have a series of tasks you must complete that will measure particular traits one must have to be worthy of such a Faun. Such traits as strength of character, fairness, skill with children, wisdom, and composure." With a flutter of her wings, she grinned.
"Let us begin! If everyone could head outside, I'll explain our first challenge there!"
***
Unrolling the parchment his Mellon had delivered to him with breakfast this morning, Chieftain Rais' expression darkened considerably as he read. The rest of his food was forgotten as he rose to follow the earth fairy's hasty departure. Just what in Laisidhiel did she think she was doing?!?
It was too late. She'd already reached the meeting dais where a crowd of Faun waited. He arrived just in time to hear her announcement and it took all his self-control not to growl in response. Keeping his expression neutral for the sake of the gathered Fauns as they moved en masse towards the door leading outside, Rais stepped over behind his Mellon and swiftly plucked her out of the air before she could escape.
"Krikit." He narrowed his eyes at the dangling fairy who grinned at him sheepishly. In a voice soft enough only his Mellon would hear, he said in an even tone, "Don't think I don't know what you two are up to. And don't think that I'm at all happy about this either. We will talk about this later."

Day 1 Prompt
Having escaped from her bonded's grasp, the Mellon zipped outside, hurriedly regaining her composure. "Ahem...everyone here? Good!" She flew to the front of the crowd to address them. "Any good match will possess great strength of character! In addition to this, one must also have a strong connection to the Earth. To test both of these factors, we have prepared the following challenge!" She gestured forward towards a wet-patch of ground ahead of the group. Several geomancers had been busy in the early hours moving the earth to carve out a shallow, roughly round area which had then been refilled with water and the removed soil.
A mud pit.
"Free-for-all! May the best mud wrestler win!"
Far behind the crowing Mellon and the gathered Faun she addressed, Chieftain Rais silently put his hand over his face with a sigh.
***
Mud-wrestling time! Every Faun for themselves!
Roll 1-D10 die. The number represents your Faun's success level in the challenge; the higher the number, the better they do. Please write all responses with this number in mind. Careful, it's slippery in there!

Her morning had been...Eventful. Her normal routine had been difficult to complete with this nagging URGE calling her to the lower levels of the tree. She just couldn't leave Rosso and Picolit alone after all, what kind of parent would she be? Plus she could only imagine what they'd get into. What if they hurt themselves? She tried to ignore the strange urge, but the more she tried the louder it seemed to become. After getting the twins cleaned up after breakfast she just wanted to fly out the door and go to where ever this urge took her. It was like an itch she couldn't scratch and it was driving her nuts! They were suppose to go out for the day but...She HAD to do this.
It took her a little while to find a Matron to looking after the twins(I'M NOT TOO SURE ON BABYSITTING OPTIONS SO NPC GO) she found herself at the dais, adding herself to the small group and watching as more arrived. What was going on? It wasn't too long after that the Mellon started to speak and Midnight Strike began to feel nervous. A few, key words stood out to her. Chosen, competition, Bachelor's heart. 'There must have been a mistake, there was no way' her thought stopped and her heart sank as she saw who this Bachelor was.
Son of a sumac, it was the Chieftain.
Midnight Strike covered the left side of her face with her hand, seeing on how the right was half hidden behind her mask. She nearly opened her mouth to say something but the Mellon spoke about heading outside for a challenge. Well..She did seem to have the day off as it were...This...Could be fun? She was really unsure of all this. What was this first challenge they had in store for this group?
Mud wrestling? Mud wrestling. Midnight Strike stood at the edge of the pit, staring at the mud for a moment before looking up at no one really. Even though she spoke no words, her face was in total disbelief as 'how was this suppose to show a strong connection to the Earth in anyway' was written all over her. This...This is what Rosso liked to do! Play in the mud and then get his sister dirty. There was nothing worst then trying to catch a muddy Rosso and now she had to do this? This whole day was just going to be unbelievable wasn't it?
Midnight let out a sigh before she took a few steps into the mud to get her barings. She could feel her hooves slip slightly under the wet ground. This was going to be bad for her wasn't it?
Screw it.
She tossed her mask out of range of the pit before she nearly belly flopped into the mud, just about covering herself. She was going to get dirty anyways right? What was the point in trying to stay clean? She flipped her hair and brushed some mud out of her eyes before looking around. She was ready to start this.(FITE ME 1V1(ಠ益ಠ) SHEROLLEDA4EASYWIN)

Mona yawned and stretched. She had spent another night out on the branches bonding with her niece. The poor girl seemed to enjoy the company, and Mona didn't mind the height so much anymore. Still, she felt an internal tugging that woke the sleeping beauty (or beast?) enough to drag her hooves from her bed and stumble groggily to the doorway.
Mona wasn't exactly a morning person... Or, at least, she hadn't been since spending late nights out in the branches. Even still, she was always a little bit grumpy for the first few moments of morning.
Another yawn and stretch came before she straightened herself out and followed the silent summons down to the dias. Now a little more awake, she peered curiously at the others around her before the voice of the floating Mellon caught her full attention.....
Wait.........
What?!?!
Had the fur on her face not been so dark, a blush would have been visible at the mention of being possible suitors to a bachelor. Her face did get a shade rosier, however, as Rais stepped out into view. She too opened her mouth in an attempt to stun me around a protest, but the little Mellon urged the outside to start.
Mona sighed and shrugged. What all did she have to lose, anyway? Besides, she had been looking for something to do since she'd gotten here. This was something, wasn't it?
She followed the small group outside.....
It took all Mona had to not bust out laughing. A mud pit?! Really?! Most of her gender - she found - was opposed to dirt and mud and avoided it like the plague! But not Mona. Back at her home, rain made her yard a mid pit in itself so she was used to the stuff. She saw one of the girls give in and step forward. She had to admire the girl for facing the dirt so easily.
Well, it was now or never! She stepped in with ease and turned to the other with a soft smile before the word 'wrestle' made it to her ears. She rolled her eyes a bit before assuming a wrestling stance.
"You ready?" She asked calmly. "Let's get this over with..."
(on phone, so no fancy post text/colors - also, I'll edit in victory or defeat based on roll.)

Kyrie had intended to sleep in that morning, and even so she had already slept in past many of the more industrious Faun. But something woke her before she'd intended to rise. It felt like an itch in her inner ear. Covers pulled up to her chin, she whined and rolled over, curled up against the cool morning air. But the feeling persisted, and she tossed and turned a handful more times before getting up, grumbling petulantly.
Kyrie yawned and lazily pulled a comb through her hair until it was presentable. Then she smoothed out her fur. For special occasions she'd sometimes shine her hooves, but she was entirely too sleepy for that today. All the while that little itch bothered her, urged her to leave her quarters and go down below, to the very bottom of the Tree.
Soon irritation gave way to curiosity. What was there that Laisidhiel wanted her to find? She did love surprises, she thought as she made her way down, down, down. Soon she was standing among a small group of Faun, mostly women, and the itch abated. Her heart began to beat faster. This was what she was meant to find! What could it be? No one else seemed to know, judging by the quizzical expressions mirrored on almost everyone's face. She couldn't contain a nervous/excited smile as it spread across her round face.
She had a hard time paying attention to the Earth Mellon as it flitted about. What was it saying? Something about a competition? Hmph, she wasn't very competitive. Perhaps it'd be over soon and she could go back to bed. Winner of what bachelor's heart? Why on Earth would there be a competition for someone's heart, that seemed like a poor way to--
Kyrie's mouth fell open as Chieftan Rais came into view. She put a hand over her mouth and a full blush warmed her cheeks. The...the Chief? She hadn't even realized he was a bachelor... Goodness, he was so handsome and strong! She'd always admired him from afar, but he was the leader of all the Faun, for mercy's sake! Her heart fluttered with joy. She wasn't competitive by nature, but if she was being given a chance by the Tree herself to win Chieftain Rais' heart? She'd go for it with everything she had!
Suddenly she hung onto every word the tiny fairy said. She mentally made a note of each of the characteristics a good mate would need. She felt she had a strong character, and was very fair. Skill with children? Kyrie made a little face. She'd never really interacted with children before. But that didn't mean she was bad, right? She could be amazing with children and not even know! She was as wise as the next Faun, and was the picture of composure. Suddenly she wished she had bothered to shine her hooves...
Kyrie followed the other competitors outside where they stood before a great muddy pit. Were they to find something amid all this muck? Maybe it was to test how they felt about getting dirty. She grinned. A child of the Earth, Kyrie didn't mind getting covered in it.
Wait, mud wrestling? She ran a hand through her hair. She wasn't particularly strong...but then she watched a dark Fauny with golden streaks in her hair slide around in the mud and just get covered. Surely I can do better than that?
She slid down into the ring on her cloven hooves and set herself on a crash course with that Fauny. She pushed off and slid in that direction, and collided with her. "Sorry 'bout it," she mumbled as a preemptive apology as she fell on top of her. Now...how did one wrestle? It's just like, keeping the other person down, right? She put her weight on her knees on either side of the other femme and used her hands to steady herself.

It hadn't been a particularly restless night, but neither was it fully restful. Even amongst the obscure paths of her subconscious, the fauness was acutely aware that there was somewhere's she needed to be. That she needed to open up those sleepy eyes of hers... Yes... Just open them up...
Just a little...
Squinting and rolling over in her bed, she willed this need to leave her be. Just a few extra minutes, that was all she asked for. Were those minutes to transform themselves into an hour or two by no conviction of her own... well... she certainly wouldn't complain.
A minute passed.
Then another.
Sighing much more loudly than was necessary, Amity pushed herself up and rubbed her eyes, submitting to the need to go. It wasn't as if she were hungry or anything - she often missed the morning's meal after all - but rather that she could not rid herself of this spirit-forsaken need to move, to be at the lower levels. How aggressive a feeling for so early. After 'readying' herself for the day, not much more than a simple shake of the head and a rub of the eyes, the fauness made her way through the tree, to the dias as it were. Her eyes looked about groggily, a lazy, half-smile reaching her lips as she waved to the others about her.
Maybe there had been an announcement she'd forgotten about?
However, before she could ask any of the others what it might of been, a different voice caught her attention. What a cute little mellon it was... As if on cue, her eyes looked to the others about her, they (and she) apparently special enough for a competition of sorts? For a bachelor's heart? She wasn't particularly interested in finding love or anything of the sort, and it struck her silly that such a thing might be found in such a manner, but she wasn't about to turn away. This could be quite fun, after all, and she could always get to know a few others in the tree.
It was the Chieftain, after all, who was their supposed "prize."
How many would take this way to seriously, she wondered. As nice as some might think a high social standing might be, Amity yearned little to reach the top of the social hierarchy. She was fine with her life; why change something that's doesn't need fixing?
Following the group, she was not so discrete about hiding a chuckle as she learned of their first "challenge." Mud wrestling to test for strength and a connection with the earth? How silly was that?
Shrugging, she laughed a bit and followed the others towards the pit. Unlike them, her first step was less-than-graceful, as was her fall and the splash-zone of mud about her that followed. Rather than get upset and embarrassed, she laughed at how silly she must look and tried to see if she might have gotten someone else the same.

Slightly obnoxious snores were the dead giveaway that Rainbow Dash was still sound asleep. Despite the heavy sleep, the fauny was still aware of something tugging her awake. She snored harder in protest, but the nagging would not ease. "5 more minutes..." she murmured to no one in particular as she rolled over and flopped onto her stomach. Dash found herself becoming more and more restless as she continued to protest. She stretched and discovered that her body was attempting to get out of bed. "No. No no no no." Her legs were already out of bed and starting to walk away. Rainbow grabbed tight onto her bed, managing to delay getting out of bed for a few more minutes as she battled herself, but her grip was lost. Sighing heavily, she walked mindlessly towards the dais. She was so out of it she didn't know where she was or who had surrounded her. What she did know was that her body had stopped moving. Rainbow Dash took that as an opportunity to attempt to sleep standing up. When it became clear to her that sleep was no longer an option, she began to rub the boogers from her eyes. So lady-like. "So... what's going on here?" She asked the small gathered group of mostly females, but it wasn't long before the mellon spoke up. A competition? Rainbow Dash's ears perked up instantly. She loved a good competition. Followed up with it being a competition for love, Rainbow Dash became disheartened. That wasn't really her style. Once the mellon began listing off the traits of a faun worthy of the chieftain (she could care less about his status though), Rainbow's chest began to puff up with her ego. 'Me. Me. Me. Me.' She thought as she checked off which qualities applied to her. Not all of them applied to her, but her pride said they did. Then they were led outside and introduced to the first challenge. "Definitely me!" she completed her checklist out loud in her excitement about the first challenge. Oops. Mud wrestling? Boo to the yah! She had been wrong, this was her kind of competition. Rainbow Dash was eager to show off for the first challenge. It wasn't because he was the chief that she wanted to show off, Rainbow would show off to anyone. "Cannonball!" she shouted as she ran, jumped up, gave a boost with her wings for extra splash, and landed in the mud pit.

"Here Squirrley Squirrley! Whose a good boy..... come to Fluttershy now!" the yellow and pink mane/tailed pegasus cooed softly to a squirrel sitting on a branch outside her window, nibbling on a few bits of bread she had given it. Unlike most of the others, Fluttershy had already been wide awake and tending to her morning duties: taking care of her animal friends. Today in particular however, her morning routine went a bit differently. A little squirrel came chattering to her window as she dropped in bits of bread to her fish friend and of course, as Fluttershy would, attempted to invite it inside her room. Though it seemed to be playing hard to get and moved not an inch despite her coaxing.
Fluttershy also felt differently this morning too. She felt a nagging feeling in her core tugging her down towards the dais of the tree but she fought it. Or at least she tried to fight it. Her need to get this squirrel to join her growing critter companion kept being pushed farther and farther to the back of her mind as the pegasus finally gave up and left her room to follow the summons..... after making sure Fuzzy kept an eye on things. Good ol' reliable bear!
Once she made it down to the lower part of the tree she crept towards the gathering group of fauness, sticking mostly to the back. Not many familiar faces thus far besides Midnight Strike and... "Oh Rainbow?!" she squeaked softly at seeing one of her friends come strolling up. Had she felt the tug as well? "W-w-hats going o----" she had began to ask...rather whisper ask when a little mellon spoke up loudly to those who had gathered.
A competition?!!?! No wonder Dash had been summoned, but her?! And for a BACHELOR?!?!! OH no no no no no no this had to be a mistake. Fluttershy was the least suited for this challenge and especially not..... GULP! "C-c-c-c-c-chieefft-tt-tan R-rais!!" she squeaked loudly....which for her was still no louder than a whisper. "N-n-n-n-n-n-nnnnnnnnnnnnn-" she stammered to herself as the mellon went on and on about challenges, strength of character, fairness, children skills, wisdom....composure! Sure she baby sat the Cutie Mark Crusaders a few times.... and she liked to think she was fair. Kind maybe....... but oh no no no no. This was a mistake this was all a MisTEEEAAA------
Fluttershy found herself being swept outside with the crowed towards their first 'challenge'. Mud wrestling. Gulping, Fluttershy wrung her hands together. She had been summoned....maybe the Chief saw something in her? 'Psssssshh don't kid yourself Fluttershy, like he even looks your way!' But mud wrestling!?! She didn't know about the wrestling bit but mud certainly never bothered her. She got plenty muddy cleaning off the animals back in Equestria. It was certainly no different here thus far. "Oh...oh I don't know about this..." she said softly to herself, looking around to try to find her friend...... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there she went.
Squinting one eye shut and turning her head sideways as bits of mud splashed her face from Rainbow Dash's cannon ball, Fluttershy let out a sigh of defeat. Maybe if she got this over with and lost she could go home? Stepping into the mud, the yellow Pegasus waded her way into the thick of it......and surprisingly found herself fairing better than some of the others. Guess she had gotten used to the mud more than she thought? Squeaking yet again she slid her way past Midnight Strike who ...fell? Flopped? Something completely into the mud. "S'cuse me... oh pardon me....oh...oh...sorry! Oh I'm so s-s-sorry!" she stammered as she pushed her way around through the mud, eventually bumping into a wild patterned faun (Mona) that caused her to blink in surprise at first. "M-m-mo?!" she gasped....then realized this one had...erm...well...breasts. "O-O-OH M-M-MY!"
Backing away from her she bumped butt first into another brown female with pale hair and pale eyes (Kyrie) who seemed to be.....well... dominating the mud pit thus far. Fluttershy stumbled forward a bit before catching herself. She was going to need so many baths after this! And possibly never ever coming out of her room again!

Waking up to the sound of other Fauns cheering Iris topaz was confused. Going down as she yawned and tiredly put her hair up into her normal style. As she left the tree she noticed that the noise got louder and there was a Mellon talking animatedly talking about bachelor and that she was one of the ones who were going to try for the position of his bride. Ok this is different she had been looking for love but she was not sure this was the way that she wanted to find it. Well what ever who was the bachelor oh it was just the Chieftain Rais nothing big. WAIT WHAT her eyes opened wide as she realized who she was competing to be the bride for.Iris Topaz put her hand on her face she was pretty sure she was not suitable for the Chieftain but it did not hurt to try. Ok so she would try so what was the first competition was mud wrestling what ever that was. Mud she was ok with mud not her favorite thing but she could always wash it off nothing wrong with that and she understood what wresting was just not the two together. As she thought about it she watched the other Faun jump into the mud and the realization hit her. Mud wrestling meant wresting in the mud. Ok If I am going to do this I need to do it strategically she watched as a blue Pegasus jump into the mud. Wings will be heavy in the mud perfect Target acquired. Iris Topaz jumped into the mud aiming at Rainbow Dash. The mud covered her sparkly yellow body as she landed near the blue Pegasus. "Shall we wrestle?" she asked Rainbow Dash

Applebloom had woken up with a curious feeling in her gut. It was telling her she needed to go to the Tree. She sighed. There wasn't much else she needed to do today. She might as well feed the curiosity that stirred her up out of bed and down to the dais at the Tree. She yawned hugely, her jaw cracking as she half paid attention to what was being said.
Wait. What? Chosen? Competition? Bachelor...? What on Telrunya was happening here? And then Chieftain Rais stepped out. Wait wait wait. Rais was the Bachelor they were all supposed to be competing for? Applebloom suddenly wasn't sure about this.... Why had she been chosen for this? She looked around, now that she was more awake, and saw both Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash as well as a few other Faun.
Still weirded out by the whole thing, Applebloom still followed the Mellon outside....to a mudpit. Okay, this was officially weirder than any dream she could ever have possibly had. She snorted as some of them got into it in the mud. With a grin, she jumped in. "WHOO-HOO!" she yelled and started throwing mud around at EVERYONE. "Hey, this is kinda fun! HEY FLUTTERSHY!" she yelled and launched herself at her older sister's friend.

Dash, completely covered in mud and slightly disoriented from her cannonball, quickly stood up and looked for someone to pounce on. Rainbow had never been afraid of getting dirty, and loved to rough and tough it, but it was never something she had done competitively. Being completely covered in mud out from the gate had its pros and cons. Fluttershy, getting bumped around the place, stood out to Rainbow Dash instantly simply because she was such a familiar face. Dash had a soft spot for her fellow flyer and was not going to go after the gentle fauny unless she absolutely had too. Two faun were already engaging in a slippery mess of what looked like fun to Rainbow. She was eager to join them, and about to, when someone spoke up to her. A smirk crossed Rainbow Dash's face. Who asked to wrestle? One glance at the crystal fauny answered that question. They were kind of different. It was easy pickings in Dash's mind, but she typically went for more of a challenge. However... the faun had asked so nicely. "Sure!" responded Dash in a chipper voice, it was going to be fun, even if it was easy. She didn't give much delay between when she responded and when she took action. Rainbow lunged towards the crystal fauny, attempting to push her down into the mud. Being completely covered in mud weighed her down, and she could feel that now that she was moving. However, it also made her super slick.

Midnight Strike was caught off guard as she found another female crash into her, sending her back down into the mud with a splat. It didn't help another female just DOVE right in, sending mud everywhere. "No problem." Midnight muttered back as she found a cream coloured faun on top of her, pinning her down in the mud. She took the moment to wipe the mud from her eye and glance around to see if anyone else was doing as badly as her. Faun and fauny were slipping and sliding everywhere. Was that Rainbow Dash just covered in mud? And was that Fluttershy? They looked...Heck, all of them looked just like children at this point!
That was the moment Midnight burst into laughter.
Who in their right mind could take ANY of them serious at this moment? Bachelor or not, this was utterly ridiculous. She could only imagine the face of Rosso if he saw her like this and that did not help her laughing fit at all. She started snorting she was laughing so hard.
She wiggled slightly under the other in order to get enough room to prop herself up on her elbows slightly, managing to still her laughing fit for a moment. "Hey...Hey you..." She scooped up some mud in her hand and just smeared it into Kyrie's cheek. "You're...one with the earth now!" Midnight lost it again as she feel back down into mud with a splat, covering her eyes with her arms as she laughed. "This...This is so....Stupid." She finally managed to wheeze out before pointing to Kyrie. "You're...Pretty good at this..But if I'm going to be reduced to the antics of my children...Then I'm just going to make mud castles and fling mud at the others...Wanna join?" This other female might not want to join her, but hey, the invitation was there.

Amadorine lay in her bed in her room, staring at the ceiling above her and trying to kill all thoughts in her head. She'd finally come back to the tree, finally started putting on weight and gaining back the strength she'd lost from during her adventures. Part of it was that she wasn't living off of whatever she could find that was remotely edible. The bathing had helped too, and brought her fur and hair back to it's silky soft feel.
Her ears pricked up as she felt something come over her, almost like a whisper but with no words. Frozen, she waited for the feeling to come again, sure that she had felt this once before. Once again, the feeling hit her, a little more powerful and closer to an urge than a whisper this time, and it was pulling her to her feet. Without knowing really where she was headed, her hooves took her down the halls and stairs toward a place somewhere within the tree. She walked into a gathering of a few other fauns, all female with the exception of one male, and took a spot standing near one.
As the Mellon began talking, explaining what was going on, the faun felt a strong sense of emotion roll over her. The Tree had summoned her for another one of these competitions... and unlike last time, she felt so proud to be taking part. That same feeling turned into absolute shock as Rais suddenly walked out.
If Ama had been drinking something, she would have given one heck of a spit take. Instead, she stared with eyes wide as she struggled to keep focus on what the Mellon was saying. Flashes of her once friend, the ex-wife of Rais, went through her head as did memories from the tasks, and she clentched her fist. She would take this seriously this time, not grudgingly as she did the first one. She'd been such a brat, a clueless whelp then, and so stuck in her own needs that she had not recognized the importance of what was transpiring. She'd been caught up in Thom.
At the mention of the first challenge, a physical one, a slow smirk came over Amadorine's face, and she felt her muscles twitch. No, this time it was on, and she was going to compete to the best of her abilities. In respect for Rais, in respect for the Faun, and in respect for Laisidhiel herself.
Mud splashed everywhere as faun and faunie alike entered into the first task. Ama narrowed her eyes and charged into the grime. She honestly wasn't fazed a bit by the mud, having been living off the land for as long as she had, and it didn't take her long to gather her balance, and she turned to the nearest competitor and charged into the poor girl.
