Malikai was traveling for quite a while. His destination unknown when the storm started. Thunderous rumbles and brilliant, beautiful strikes of lightning blazing in the sky. A sight that he would never grow tired of seeing. If one asked what his favorite thing to see was. Well that would be a simple answer. Lightning storms as they just take his breath away. It doesn't matter to him that rain is falling down upon him soaking his coat. Such things are trivial at best and just a minor annoyance. Though well worth the show the storm would give. It is somewhat of a gloomy day and night is starting to approach. His glowing blue eyes illuminated into further brightness. His eyes often are cause of uncomfortable chat with others that he comes across. Something which he has come to be quite aware of. Both a blessing and a curse depending on those he meets. Moving forward he moves to find a good spot for him to watch the storm.

Menzi had been wandering on her own all afternoon, taking in the sights around her in the forest, strangely, she was enjoying the slight gloom, and the storm had been quite fantastic so far. It was starting to get late, and she was a bit unfamiliar with the area, though she was sure she wouldn't get lost, it was still a bit of a cause of discomfort. The young mare thought perhaps she should try and find an open area, at least a clearing amidst a grove if she could. At least that way she could watch her own back and her surroundings. Even as a semi-experienced explorer, she knew the forest would be more dangerous as it got even darker.
As she slowly trotted along through the trees, she whipped her head around. Menzi's ears had detected what sounded like something behind her, and she stared off into the dimming distance behind her for a moment, at full alert and ready to run. She scanned the trees around her and couldn't see anything, and so she continued along, shaking her head at herself for causing a fuss.
"I'll be fiiiiine. Pfffft." She said aloud to herself, listening to the wind and the rain in the trees around her. She was trying to convince herself, of course. She was a bit more cocky than she was actually tough, though she wouldn't let on to that with others.
The snap of a stray branch or twig caught her attention at her right flank, and as she whipped around again, she caught a flash of movement and what seemed to be the glow of another creature's eyes.
"Very funny...you aren't going to scare me!" She called out, bringing no response. She listened carefully for more movement, and tried to predict where it may come up on her. Menzi was getting a bit scared now...she wasn't sure if she should stay and put up a tough act, or if it would be worth it simply to flee.
Suddenly, she detected movement again, and it appeared to be the shape of a rather large bear. She gasped and froze in place. For all that talk, she was too terrified to even run. Standing still as she watched it emerge a bit closer to her, seemingly curious, her muscles twitched. It lunged slightly and let out a bellow at her, warning her.
Menzi didn't know what to do. She whinnied and cried out desperately in fear as a response to the bears challenge, and slowly took a few steps backward away from it.

Malikai's eyes glance over the surrounding area. Woods cover as far as he can see in the west. To the east rolling plains of long grass. Thunderous claps of thunder bellow their displeasure as the lightning flashes. Glorious. This storm is amazing to him. Ear twitch as something disrupts the night. High pitched... primal.. Fear.. Straightening his body tense as he listens to see where the scream came from. When the sound comes again he bunches his muscles and runs towards the woods. Weaving in between tree's galloping towards the sound. Bushes brush against him leaving scratches along his legs. Yet he pays no heed to them as he has a task to do. He must find the one that is scared and help them. It is his duty to help them. He was trained to save people. Protect and to serve. A log grows bigger and he jumps over it while ducking his head. Barely making it without hitting the low limb. " That was close.." Slowing to a stop he sniffs the air. Ears searching for sounds to show him where to go. Hearing the sound of a bear. He charges forward again but at a canter. The tree's are just a little bit too close for him to feel comfortable running through them. He catches sight of a mare after running past a jumble of bushes. His glowing eyes taking in the scene. Bear approaching the mare. Springing into action he lowers his head and charges the bear. Focused on the task at hand.

The poor young female had absolutely no idea what to do. Just as the bear appeared to be gearing up to lunge toward her again, there was a flash of lightning and crashing of thunder as a rather large stallion came rushing through the trees, headed directly for the bear! She let out another terrified squeal and took a few more steps back, feeling a bit safer to do so now that this stallion was between her and the huge carnivore.
"Oh my!" She cried out, watching as the stallion rushed the bear. It was like a scene out of her nightmares, and she stared on in horror as they took each other on. Menzi had never felt so utterly useless in her life. There was nothing she could do but stand there, but she watched bravely without cowering into the bushes, wanting to be sure this random hero of hers ended up alright in all of this, too.
"Get him!!!" The flowery mare jeered, encouraging this knight in shining armour. "Show him who's boss!" She added, with a little mischievous grin over-taking her complete and utter horror from moments before.

Malikai knows that this won't be easy. Sure the other is an animal yet bears are strong and worthy opponents. He shouldn't underestimate the bear. After all it has sharp claws after all. He swings his head at the bear. His horn grazing along it's side. Not the best he can do.. But it did move aside. Their movements are dance like as both charge and retreat. He does his best to make sure to harm the bear. Yet the bear is doing some harm also. It is in these moments when he hears the mare cry out encouragement. Yet he chooses to ignore it. He can't waste time getting distracted. It is after he had stabbed the bear in the side when he feels the claws dig into his hindquarters. Pain shoots through him yet he continues on. With the next charge anger flows through him and it is after hurting the bear once again when it runs off wounded. Feeling a familiar wetness along his coat he looks at the wound. It isn't too bad. He has had worse. Looking over at the mark his glowing eyes assess her. What is she doing here.. Looking at her from the front he notices her talons... She has talons and yet she didn't fight with them? Did nobody teach this mare to fight? What a waste. " Are you alright? Don't die of fright on me. The bear probably won't come back." He steps forward and stops not too far away from her. " You have talons and yet you don't know how to fight? You probably should learn. Would do well in these situations or next time you might end up dead. You are extremely lucky I was nearby to save you." Lightning flashes and he looks up at the flash of light. Yet the tree's cover too much of it. He would need to find a spot without much cover to watch the storm. How bothersome.
