Alex took a moment to lean back in one of the chairs and stare at the many people desperately trying to survive this game. This game of chance. he hadn't seen anyone he knew personally yet, but he had seen a couple of the apartment residents. He assumed that his whole group was here.
He needed to see though, if Brie was around.
Hence the leaning back in the chair and scanning the area.
When he saw her though, his heart sank and the dread set in.
"Brie!" he waved her over. "Brie over here!"

Brie had managed to make a decent dent in the amount needed to win her freedom. But it was not enough to save herself as well as others. She made a promise to October. A promise where she would do whatever it took to help get all their people out. Though the games in this place did not make it easy, and the smell of it was making her nauseous.
The collar placed around her neck itched something terrible, yet fearing she might set it off, she refrained from touching it. All in all, this place knew how to suck the life out of someone.
Upon hearing her name called, she searched the crowd for the face that matched the familiar voice, making her way across the room when Alex was spotted.
"Alex!"

"There you are!" He smiled at her, Cheerful, friendful. Like normal. As if this was normal. Like if this whole event was normal .
"How you holding up here, pretty lady?"

Friendly? Yes. Cheerful? Not really. Normal? Far from it. She was tired. Dead tired from everything that had happened, and everything that was to come.
His question received a genuine tilt of her head, questioning whether or not he was unfazed by everything that had happened, or was just feigning his usual glibness. Either way, she wasn't exactly sure what to say. "I'm.. holding up?" Was she doing okay? Definitely not.
"And you?"

In part to his usual clingy-ness, he placed his arms on her shoulders and bent his forehead down on hers. He could see the tiredness in her eyes. He assumed she had seen it all so far. How much has she seen? Did she see the woman's body?
"Holding up isn't all that good." He looked at her, "Did you get yourself cleared off their kill list or whatever?" He was reaching for some coins, only the measly ones he had gathered so far. "I got some extra coins. I'll give them to you."

Bowing her head, when her pressed his to hers, Brie let out a small sigh. "No. I'm still paying it off." As kind as the gesture was-
"You can't give me your coins. It's against their rules. We're only allowed to pay for ourselves, or pay for someone else, in full. I'm fine though, just worry about yourself. It's been a long day so far, but I'm sure I can get the money." Right not she was more concerned with everyone else managing to get the amount needed. Last thing she needed to think of was familiar faces being sent off to God knows where.
"How much do you have left to go?"

"Oh." He frowned. He needed to get to her total first. Brie surviving seemed a lot more important then him doing so. He wasn't sure why. She was just a really pretty girl that he had gotten close to in the last Month.
Growing attached to her, or anyone wasn't smart. Not in the end of the world.
"Okay. I'll buy you when I can!" He grinned, "It's not gonna be long right?" He fingered the collar around her neck, making sure it was loose. He didn't want to think of it leaving a mark...or worse a scar.
"Kind of fun here though right? I guess. I was never a gambling man." He waved dramatically, "I like my board games! Monoploy was the only game I bet on!"

"W-what?" The man's words and actions were enough to cause her face to flush. Shaking her head, she swatted his hands away, embarrassed. "What? No! Focus on yourself, Alex! I already told you, I'm fine!"
Regaining her composure, Brie looked out at the other poor sods, all hard at work trying to earn their freedom. "Eh.. if you like the smell of booze and cigarettes stuck in your clothing, and playing games that give you a headache, sure. Its heaven on earth." Course, there was the whole fact that if you lose these games, your life becomes forfeit, and you become the casinos property.

"Never a fan of booze or smokes." Alex eventually made his way to flopping on Brie and resting his head on hers. "Don't worry! We'll get out of here. Sou is around somewhere, and pretty sure I saw that Cecil and Rook fellow you know?" He laughed a little.
"Some ******** up hunger games is all this is, you know? Just pretend its a movie a little longer. We won't be here long. Zelda won't let us."
Or October.

Brie had seen them earlier, and was a little curious as to how Cecil was holding up after having been injured. Hopefully, thanks to Charlie's good care, he would make a speedy recovery. Either way, it would be good to check in on Sho and the others as well. "Hope they're all okay.."
She merely nodded in agreement to Alex's thoughts on this place, though hunger games had nothing on the creep factor this place gave. If she could ever get some rest, it would never be peaceful.
"I don't know. None of us, not even our faction leaders are running the show here. We're all stuck in the same boat." Besides, when she last saw October, he wasn't looking too good.

Alex didn't know what else to say besides a nod. He desperately just wanted to survive this sick game until the end. And he hated knowing that good people were stuck here, like this, with the threat that loomed over them.
"We stick together okay?" He grinned, "And try to have some fun, you know? I've never been to vegas. Slots are a lot like that. Gotta be careful to get not too addicted, right?"
If only it was that easy....

Realizing she was being a bit of a downer, she wrapped her arms around Alex, giving him a small hug. "Sorry." Letting her arms drop to her sides again, she nodded in agreement when mentioned to stick together. "Yeah. I don't think you'll have to worry about me getting addicted to these games." The only thing she could think of was 'when would they finally be able to stop playing'.
