RULES OF THIS GAME:
[ Step 1]: - You must find a minimum of TWO other players to enter the poker table with you. If you cannot find someone else put a [ OPEN ] at the top of your post. This means you are open for inviting other players. You can have up to 5 people in a poker game thread, if you wish. All players may now come in, and roll in whatever order they wish, you really don't have to wait for players to get your rolls in!
Label your thread [ POKER RP] (PLAYERS HERE). You can play cross faction, obviously! Remember MINIMUM 3 players MAX 5 players!
The player who made the thread is responsible for closing it when finished.
[ Step 2]: All players must now roll 5d12 and make their FIRST POST in that thread. This equals the CARDS they have on their hands where 1= Ace, 11 = Jack, 12 = Queen. There are no kings. Edit your OOC accordingly with your hand. Make a post regarding your hand/entering the thread/ etc.
[ Step 3]: Look at your hand combination. You may now choose to DISCARD one card from your hand you do not like. Select which number you want to discard (from your rolls), and then in a second post, roll 1d12 again. This is your new card. Edit your OOC HAND accordingly, and write a small post of your character. This phase is optional.
[ Step 4]: Look at your hand combination. You may now choose to DISCARD ANOTHER card from your hand you do not like. Select which number you want to discard (from your rolls), and then in your third post, roll 1d12 again. This is your new card. Edit your OOC accordingly, and write a small post of your character. This phase is optional, and your LAST chance to swap cards.
[ Step 4b]: If you somehow have "cash" in your minis inventory, now is the chance to use it! Make a post, and RP that you are using your cash to BRIBE the dealer. Immediately send the cash item to Junkyard. This item WILL be removed from your inventory. When you have done so (don't worry about waiting for confirmation, just do NOT use this item anywhere else or you will be removed from the event), replace any card in your hand with a card of your choice. For example, if your current hand is 1, 2 , 2, 4, 5, with your bribe, you may now change it to 1, 2 3, 4, 5. Proceed to the next step when done. This step is only for CASH people only (if you own this item on the site).
[ Step 5]: You are done swapping cards! This is now your FINAL HAND. We're going to simplify the rules here for Poker so it isn't a big nightmare to complete. Look at the list below:
Select a combination that is APPROPRIATE to your hand. For example, if you have 2, 2, 5, 6, 7, your highest is a pair. If you got 2 3 4 5 6, your highest is a straight. etc etc. Use the form below to submit your final hand and rp out your post.

[ Step 6]: When ALL PLAYERS have submitted their hand, simply look at this chart again to see who has the highest combo. If there are two "tied" values, simply look at who has the higher card numbers. That person is the WINNER. If you are the WINNER of the thread, you get 25 casino points. Everyone else has to subtract 5 as penalty. Go ahead and edit your ooc for casino points accordingly.
If players are caught not subtracting points, they will be disqualified from any future poker games! If players do NOT respond in a timely manner despite posting one hand, they will be considered no longer part of the game (-5 penalty for "losing"). The wait period for a timely tag should be 12 hours before moving onwards. You may play multiple poker games at once.

Dazs chose this table because it looked unassuming, quiet. It was tucked in the corner of the otherwise busy casino, and the lights didn't shine quite right on it. The dealer looked bored as ******** hell. He was a greasy haired kid with a bright blue streak in his bangs and what was either really bad bags under his eyes or loads of eyeliner. Guyliner. Dazs snickered.
"Deal out three hands!" He was chipper, nearly bushy-tailed despite the happenings and it was because of his family. He didn't want to worry them or try and dampen their already moist spirits (sometimes he thought he saw Giuseppe's spirit leaking). He drank a sip of his water.
"I don't really know the rules, but how hard can it be?

With and appletini in hand because why the ******** not he might be dying today anyways, G-Man followed his brothers lead, charmed, for the moment, by the young teenagers enthusiasm, and the brightness in his eyes that G had felt had been missing since day 0, the day they had lost their mother and had no idea whether they would ever see her again. Despite what was at stake in these games, it was nice to pretend for now that things were normal, and that they were not just here to play for their lives.
But no matter how much he tried to distract himself with good feelings, there were times when his mind slipped back, back to that woman, to the sounds of the buzzing saw, to her shrill, pain filled shrieks, to the crinkling of paper as her parts were wrapped up, neat as could be, and put in a pile.
He blinked several times, not even noticing at first that they had even reached an empty table and that he should be sitting down. He felt hot, and sick, and he swallowed hard before he sat down, giving his head a rough shake to clear it before he smiled at Dasz and his mom both.
"Aight, lets be gettin this partay started, yo!"
As the cards were dealt out towards him, he scooped them up and scanned them over.

Adelaide had struggled not to join G-man in the celebratory drinking, but she was still wary after the last time she had one, she woke up in the dark with some jackass announcer playing it out like the Hunger Games. Hah. Hunger Games. She killed herself.
"You sayin' I never taught you?" She raised an incredulous brow at Dazs as she was dealt her hand. "Hoo boy, we're in for a few games alright...G, watch the drinkin'. Wouldn't be surprised if the stuff was laced again." She didn't want a repeat, or have to deal with hauling someone's body away from the table.
She squinted at her cards and hummed. It was going to be a weird challenge trying to win and also making sure they did.

"Ok, so we can choose to get rid of the weakest link here...." He didn't have to know very much about the game to see that his hand was worth absolutely nothing right now. "No, mom, I don't remember you teaching me. Or maybe I refused to learn and went off to go paint. Who know poker would be a life-or-death situation?" He shot her a blindingly white grin, an expression he hadn't worn for a long time.
Dazs had noticed his brother's shake and mentally frowned. Things were wearing on Giuseppe bit by bit. Dazs wanted nothing more than to save his family. Now that he had them, he needed them to keep living. His own safety wasn't even considered. He made a short, huffing noise, and stole Giuseppe's drink

"Aw helll, prepare to be schooled, boiiiii!" G-Man smiled, and took a sip of his drink before he tossed one of his cards away to draw another. "Cuz I ain't bout to lose to my lil bro here or the ol' lady."
While he was drawing his card, Dasz managed to grab his drink. "Hey now! That drinks for someone with high class, bro! But guess if ya got the ballsies to do that in fron'a mom after she already be tellin me off, ya can have at er, dawg." He shuffle some of his cards around as he spoke.
"Aw yeeeeeeee, one more sweet a-swizzle draw like that and you both goin dowwwwn."
"Cards are always a game of life and death, son," she said with dramatic stoicism. Out one card went, and in went another. "Even the children's card games."
And then Adelaide began to laugh to herself, because look at how hip and cool she was right?
At least it was good enough that she didn't make a comment about the drink stealing. She was too busy giving her cards a smirk, though whether it was a complete failure to hide her own smugness or a complete bluff was hard to tell.
"Reminds me of game night," Adelaide said wistfully. "All we need's the dogs goin' nuts over nothing in the background." Some kid's homework strewn across her desk, forgotten; a half finished ice cream at her side for dinner; dirtied dishes left to stack in the sink until she eventually just stuck them all in the dishwasher; another breezy night in the Canadian province. Ah...home.

He smacked Giuseppe in the shoulder. "Yeah? We'll see what's up! DJ SECRET CAN'T BE KEPT DOWN." He took another sip of his brother's appletini even though he didn't really like it. Alcohol was still all kind of gross, even really sweet drinks. Looks, all for show.
"Mom, I'll remember that when I play go fish. Or maybe Old Maid." It was a low blow, but he was feeling so damn, damn cheeky tonight. He'd made himself forget, sometimes, in snatches, the kind of situation they were in. When the dealer looked expectantly at Dazs, he waved him away. He didn't know if his hand was good, but it was nice and neat and orderly.

G-Man stared at his hand for a moment after he discarded another card only to draw a new. He smiled, glancing both his mother's way, and his brothers.
And then he let out a long sigh.
"Know what? I fold. I ain't got shiz."
He placed his cards face down on the table and leaned back in his chair.
This way, he thought, his mom or brother would win and get the coins needed to leave. He knew he could always find another way.

There was the briefest instance of something in her eyes before she laughed at the Old Maid joke. "Point taken," Adelaide said as she traded out her second and final card for the hand, letting out a breezy sigh as she fixed it up. "Single unpairable Joker, that's me."
She didn't sound bitter about it; too many years had passed for her to really be broken up still about two failed marriages, especially when her children were still good to her. (In their own way.) It was just another fact of life, noted with sighing acceptance and a rare complacency not usually seen in a woman that fiery in personality. Perhaps it only bothered for an instance because she had seen Al and Monica back at the prison's table meeting: a young (and probably married) couple fighting to keep each other alive. It was terribly romantic: a perfect scenario for fanfiction.
"Feh. I fold too." No way was a pair of fives getting her anything, and hell--at least Dazs would be a step closer to getting out. As the dealer gave Dazs his coin prize, she sat back and gave a golf clap. "Baby's first win, G! Give him a round of applause."

It took Dazs a few moments, but when he realized he had won, he verily sparkled. He slapped down his cards. "Read 'em and weep!!!!" He began to eagerly take his coins when he paused and made a face. "I'm not a baby, mom. Gross." He tucked each coin away like the precious thing it was.
"Mom, you know. You should find a guy to go all end-of-the-world-ish with. Like-" He paused, because this was a weird subject. "-some hot young thing. What do they call it - a cougar? Yeah, cougar it up, mom." Dazs nodded wisely.
"You, too, Giuseppe. Cougar it up."
