RULES OF THIS GAME:
[ Step 1]: - You must find a minimum of TWO other players to enter the poker table with you. If you cannot find someone else put a [ OPEN ] at the top of your post. This means you are open for inviting other players. You can have up to 5 people in a poker game thread, if you wish. All players may now come in, and roll in whatever order they wish, you really don't have to wait for players to get your rolls in!
Label your thread [ POKER RP] (PLAYERS HERE). You can play cross faction, obviously! Remember MINIMUM 3 players MAX 5 players!
The player who made the thread is responsible for closing it when finished.
[ Step 2]: All players must now roll 5d12 and make their FIRST POST in that thread. This equals the CARDS they have on their hands where 1= Ace, 11 = Jack, 12 = Queen. There are no kings. Edit your OOC accordingly with your hand. Make a post regarding your hand/entering the thread/ etc.
[ Step 3]: Look at your hand combination. You may now choose to DISCARD one card from your hand you do not like. Select which number you want to discard (from your rolls), and then in a second post, roll 1d12 again. This is your new card. Edit your OOC HAND accordingly, and write a small post of your character. This phase is optional.
[ Step 4]: Look at your hand combination. You may now choose to DISCARD ANOTHER card from your hand you do not like. Select which number you want to discard (from your rolls), and then in your third post, roll 1d12 again. This is your new card. Edit your OOC accordingly, and write a small post of your character. This phase is optional, and your LAST chance to swap cards.
[ Step 4b]: If you somehow have "cash" in your minis inventory, now is the chance to use it! Make a post, and RP that you are using your cash to BRIBE the dealer. Immediately send the cash item to Junkyard. This item WILL be removed from your inventory. When you have done so (don't worry about waiting for confirmation, just do NOT use this item anywhere else or you will be removed from the event), replace any card in your hand with a card of your choice. For example, if your current hand is 1, 2 , 2, 4, 5, with your bribe, you may now change it to 1, 2 3, 4, 5. Proceed to the next step when done. This step is only for CASH people only (if you own this item on the site).
[ Step 5]: You are done swapping cards! This is now your FINAL HAND. We're going to simplify the rules here for Poker so it isn't a big nightmare to complete. Look at the list below:
Select a combination that is APPROPRIATE to your hand. For example, if you have 2, 2, 5, 6, 7, your highest is a pair. If you got 2 3 4 5 6, your highest is a straight. etc etc. Use the form below to submit your final hand and rp out your post.

[ Step 6]: When ALL PLAYERS have submitted their hand, simply look at this chart again to see who has the highest combo. If there are two "tied" values, simply look at who has the higher card numbers. That person is the WINNER. If you are the WINNER of the thread, you get 25 casino points. Everyone else has to subtract 5 as penalty. Go ahead and edit your ooc for casino points accordingly.
If players are caught not subtracting points, they will be disqualified from any future poker games! If players do NOT respond in a timely manner despite posting one hand, they will be considered no longer part of the game (-5 penalty for "losing"). The wait period for a timely tag should be 12 hours before moving onwards. You may play multiple poker games at once.
Monica perched herself on a seat at a table. She was still short of her goal, which was 120 coins (and then she had to worry about Corgi, too, on top of that), but that was why there were games at all, right? And she was finally ready for it.
She sent an unusually wan smile over at her two table companions. "Thanks for playing with me," she said. "But I don't have the best poker face...go easy?" She winked, just to show them that she wouldn't have any hard feelings even if they did beat her at the game. She wanted them to get out of here, too! Well...Nate had already paid his way out, or something. But still.
She took a breath, and then nodded at the dealer. Time to see what hand she'd been dealt.
...it was actually a pretty good hand. Monica raised her eyebrows in surprise.

Maria moved to the table and smiled back at Monica, "Don't worry, I'm not too good myself with the whole face thing..." She said softly, before thinking over the situation. She couldn't believe it still, what had just happened, what they were stuck in. Yet, the collar around her neck continued to remind her of her fate, and what she needed to do to ensure her future.
"I'm much better at hold em'." She said with a grimace, before picking up her cards.
Shoot, nothing special. She'd need to take a gamble.

Nate had never really been a poker player, and his experience with Blackjack had already taught him that his luck was below average to say the least but he needed to work hard to buy another life. His collar had been removed but what about those the others wore? If he could be any help at all, he would try to be. Once more cards were placed into his hand, and once more he hesitated to look at them.
“Anytime Monica,” he responded with a smile, “I would be more than happy to lose to either of you so no hard feelings here.” Part of him felt bad for going up against people who needed the coins he would much rather they win all of theirs, but he had made a promise to Boss to help out if he could.
“Here we go..” He said with a sigh, taking a peak at his cards. He wasn't quite sure what he was looking at, but he was certain it wasn't all that great.

"Good luck to both of you!" Monica beamed. "I-I mean, if one of us wins, then we can play again and see if someone else can win instead." That'd be a good compromise for them all, right? If they ended up each having to pay ten coins...and still gaining twenty-five from each win...
Well, that'd mean they'd each be up fifteen, overall. Not bad, really.
"Okay," Monica said. "I'll discard this one." She set aside her jack. It was her highest card, but if she played this way, she had a chance at a full house...right?

He stared at his hand a moment more after watching the girls work on their hands. With a shrug he removed one of his sevens in the hopes of somehow getting an 8. Unfortunately the cards had a different plan for him. “Well this doesn’t seem to be getting any better.” He said with a small laugh. At least the others were doing well; as long as they were able to get coins out of this he would be pleased.

"Oh no," said Monica sympathetically, although she had no idea what either of their hands were. For all she knew they were both as good as hers, which was...very.
She discarded her ace, and picked up...another ace. Well. This didn't really help her, but she was already doing pretty well.
"I've never played this before," she confessed. "I think I usually seek my thrills in a bigger venue." Like a racing stadium.

He really didn’t have any pension for the cloak and dagger routine, he was pretty much as easy to read as a children’s book. Perhaps it was because this game didn’t involve playing for his life, or he was just far too unaware of the rules to this game but he kept things pretty much out in the open.

It didn’t take a poker playing master to decipher the crappiness of his hand, but he was glad that this meant one of the others was going to end up with something. Setting his cards on the table he shrugged and smiled. “I would be more than happy to lose anytime!” He chuckled.
Both of them were very nice girls, he would hate to see either of them left behind. They needed the coins; he did not, so a loss was no big deal at the moment. Though he still hoped to buy someone else’s freedom if that was even going to be possible.

Maria kept silent as she laid her hand down, and looked at the others. She was no wiz, but she knew how to read the cards, and shook her head.
"Looks like you win, Monica." With a sigh, she dropped five coins onto the table. Well, a gamble was a gamble, and she had to expect some sort of risk. Not everything was as easy as pulling the slot machines.

Monica took the coin reward nervously. As lucky as her first hand had been, she hadn't expected this!
"Ah," she said, looking down at her coins nervously. She had enough to buy herself out, but of course...she looked over at Maria. "We should play again," she said impulsively. "In case one of you wins the second time," she added.

Maria hesitated a moment, looking between the two and looking down at her pile. Even if she did win, she wouldn't have enough to go buy it.
"I don't know, you've got your coins...and there are other tables..." She didn't want to be pushy, "But I do appreciate the help..." She rubbed her hair and brushed it away from her face, before throwing on a big smile.
"If you have the coins, you should go buy out now. You never know what could happen...and if you have any to spare, we can save the table for when you get back?"
It seemed fair enough, and Maria couldn't let the girl lose coins on account of her. There were other ways for her to earn her keep and get out before the day was over, although Monica did warm her heart with the concern.
