Liam had realyl known what to expect that night. Pain, of course. His leg had been a constant grinding throb all day, but he'd been so tired he'd actually passed out fairly quickly. Now, waking slowly in the wee hours of the morning, it took him a few moments of simply laying there to realize what was wrong. Or, well, no longer wrong. His leg no longer hurt. Not just felt better, but no longer hurt at all. Just the memory of pain and a bandage he found he didn't need when he sat up and pulled it off. There was nothing. No bruise, no stitches, nothing to say he'd even been hurt.
While that was a relief, in a way, Liam couldn't help but feel a certain sense of apprehension regarding his sudden and miraculous recovery. And apparently he wasn't the only one. People were healed from crazy injuries left and right.
There wasn't much time to really linger on that though, because everyone's attention snapped as one towards the darkened sky as it erupted in lights and the loud booms of fireworks. The sound was enough to set the young man's teeth on edge, tension crawling through his shoulders, but everyone seemed to heading out, keen to investigate, and as much as Liam would have loved to have stayed behind, he wasn't doing it alone.
At least keeping up was no longer a challenge.

Liam had never been to a casino, not old enough, but he knew one when he saw one, and this was definitely a casino. This looked like a casino straight out of Vegas. As if they'd wandered away from the post-apocalyptic and into an entirely different world. He had to pinch himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming, and even then, it was still very hard to believe that this was what he was seeing.
And hearing. And smelling. It was sensory overload.
There were people here. Not survivors, just...people. Sitting and casually playing slots. "What the hell is going on?" Had this place really been here this entire time, and gone completely unnoticed up to this point? There was just no way.
And yet.
He jumped when someone wandered up to him in a pressed suit, and Liam gave them wide, uncomprehending eyes as he was handed a cocktail and a stack of coins before being directed further into the casino to play games. It was all just a little much at this point. A little too surreal. Frowning deeply, the former soccer star headed towards a blackjack table after a single glance back at the man that simply nodded at him approvingly.
Ok, so. Games. They were going to play...games. Liam took a drink. Then another.

Quote: our character selects to play Blackjack! They seat themselves at an empty table with a dealer. Make a new post in your [ Casino solo ] thread. Roll 2d12 (2 12-sided dice). If your character gets anywhere between 15 - 20 for their number they win 5 casino coins! You can only play this once. Write your RP reaction to what you have done/ experience with it. Another figure in a pressed suit greeted him as he took a wary seat at the table, and immediately shuffled the cards to deal him in. Liam, having not actually said anything at this point, took another, longer, drink of his cocktail. This was all just a little overwhelming for him. He did know how to play Backjack though, so as the figure dealt a pair of cards in front of him he set the drink down long enough to peek at the face down card. Low. Too low to win even by accident. He grimaced, asked for a hit, then groaned as they lay a face card down beside the other two and declared the hand a bust. Whelp...

He doesn't' even have time to get up from the table before things start to tip slowly to the left. He blinked, unfocused, at the figure in front of them, but they just smile, dealing a second hand. "No than..thank you..." He manages faintly, a hand on his brow, as the room tips a little more steeply. Moving feels strangely, as if he were moving in slow motion. Sights and sounds around him dulling and muffling until he's struggling to keep the smiling figure before him in focus.
He doesn't remember falling sideways out of his chair, but the soft sound of a masculine chuckle follows him into dark oblivion.
When he wakes up he's sore, stiff, and everything still feels heavy and cotton edged. Consciousness returns slowly, then all at once when he tries to move and can't, finally feeling the ropes that are trapping him down against a chair. Eyes wide now, he tries to fight them, struggling against the bonds that are holding him, but if anything, the ropes feel like they're getting tighter with every move he makes. Darkness gives way all at once to light, blinding and stinging his eyes, and before they've had a chance to adjust he hears it, that booming voice.
When he can see again he's in what looks to be a classroom. The voice that sounded so terribly close to him seems to be blasting out of a speaker. What they have to say is confusing, and the mounting panic that had begun to creep steadily in from the instant he'd realized he couldn't move is increasing at an alarming rate. He'd have been shaking if he'd been able to, short nails digging into his palms as every bad horror movie scenario flashed through his head one after another.
As the announcer continues, Liam quickly realizes that he's in a horror movie. Talk of assigned values, of bying your own freedom, and finally, horrifyingly, cannibalism...
His nails dig a little harder into his palms, but it's still not a dream he can wake up from. "What is wrong you people?!"
There is a small pause, and then the announcer is speaking up again. Immediately Liam regrets opening his mouth as someone drags his entire chair into a separate room with two other individuals in a similar state of bondage sit. He stares at the both of them, who stare back just as wide eyed and terrified.
Pick, the voice says. Pick. How the hell was he supposed to pick? He stared between the two, both scared, both staring imploringly at him, and he's supposed to pick one of them. But for what? What does it mean for the person he picks? What does it mean for the person he doesn't? He doesn't know, and he doesn't want to ask, because these people are obviously ******** crazy.
In the end it's not so much a verbal choice, as a look lingering too long in one direction and not the other. He doesn't even realize he's done it until the crying teen is being cut free and the young woman dragged screaming from the room. Liam pales, the room tipping dangerously again, but not from any drugs this time.
The next thing he knows the kid has broken free andmad a break for it. Gunshot ring out, the kid jerks, then falls forward onto the floor. A second later a widening pool of blood starts to spread out from beneath him.
Shocked, Liam just keeps shaking his head, over and over.

He's shaking as he shuffles his way back into the casino, eye's glazed, and skin pale. For along time he just stands there, staring out into the room unfocused. Then he blinked towards one of the sets of doors, noting the guards, then another. More guards. Trapped. They were all trapped here. They were all trapped, and if they didn't.. If they didn't buy their way out, they were going to die here as well. He doesn't have much time to really process anything. Before he can even so much as look for someone he knows he's being escorted to yet another room by two burly attendants. Still shaking, he doesn't put up much of a fight. Even if he could have, after what he's just seen, he wouldn't. The assessment begins, and Liam is only dimly aware of what they're saying. Their voices sound far away, small, of little consequence. It wasn't true, he knew that, but... "Young, twenty something. Two eyes, both arms, both legs, all his hair." It's like they're listing off items off a grocery list. As if this wasn't a person standing here between them. "Healthy looking." The first attendant when on, then grabbed Liam's bag of his shoulder. "With nine items, one of which is a radio." The bag was returned, and finally he was fitted with a collar and tent on his way.
