A tall, angry redhead was trying to push his way through the crowd. "Hey!" he said. "Where's the ******** bathroom?"
He was carrying a half-empty bag that jingled with coins as he walked, as well as - notably - a white umbrella that'd have unfolded to reveal a large pink flower. If it was open, anyway. Which it wasn't - Wataru wasn't really superstitious, but he'd grown up with a mother that constantly reminded him not to open umbrellas indoors.
Like most of the players, he didn't look at all happy to be there. Unlike most of them, he didn't even seem to be trying to play for his life.

Lorena felt like she’d been slapped across the face, and perhaps mentally she had been. So when she spotted an umbrella, she thought of home and those that were there and headed for the old man.
“Hey, hey you! Please wait up!” She was trying to catch up to him as he moved through the sea of people. Once she finally had, she took a deep breath.
“You’re form the apartments right?” She sure hoped so! “I’m from there too. How crazy is this? Why are they doing this? Do you know?” She eyed his collar, noting how much he was worth before touching her own.

Wataru didn't recognize the person coming up to him, but when she said the word 'apartments' he immediately turned around. "I am," he said, surprised. Then he looked down at his umbrella and lost the surprise. "I'm..."
He paused. That was a lot of questions. "It's nice to see a familiar face," he said automatically. And then he winced: in this case it wasn't actually that he hated company (although he did hate company). He actually just didn't want anyone who he knew here. "Well. Maybe not here," he said, trying for a joke. "It's...pretty...I've heard some really shitty things from pretty reliable sources about some sketchy stuff going on here."
He glanced down at her, shrugging. "I'm trying to keep an ear on my radio to hear more, but they're not always effective. I'm Wataru, by the way - "
There was a pause. She was looking at his collar. "I've got all my coins," he confessed. "How're you doing?"

“Ah good, finally someone I can trust.” Lorena said warily as her eyes narrowed slightly. She didn’t feel as alone and hopeless with someone else around, even if she didn’t really know him per say. They were from the same fraction so that had to count for something right?
“This whole place is shady.” She raised her hands in the air and let them drop to her side lifelessly. “As if trying to save my own life wasn’t hard enough, I’ve been tasked with helping another person.” She could barely take care of herself!
“Lorena.” She offered him a small smile. “I found a radio too, but seems like a lot of nonsense.”
“I just came out from out back.” She said softly. “I haven’t played any games yet.” Just the thought made her want to cry.

"...yeah," Wataru said, breathing evenly. He had to admit he trusted the rest of the Clearview residents oodles more than the mall freaks running around in twenty dollar Halloween costumes, or the prisoners, or the university which was probably filled with students that got drunk all the ******** that s**t, right? He nodded. "Yeah, shady is definitely a word for it - wait. Wait, who're you supposed to be helping?" That didn't sound good at all. "Is it someone from - from the apartments?" Did she have family or something? A kid sibling that couldn't look after themself? She did look incredibly responsible, clothes pressed crisp and neat even despite the recent, you know, lack of electricity.
"Nonsense is definitely the right word for it," Wataru nodded. "But hey - don't worry too much. You can...you can sell some of the stuff you've got for their fake money, and there's." A pause. "Sometimes I just find coins lying around unattended." He shrugged, a little uncomfortable. Surely the coins had to be coming from someone's pockets, but miraculously no one had reported lost coins just yet. "But you should check out the slot machines; I think they're...slightly rigged in our favor. It won't be a huge profit, but it'll be something."
He looked her over again. Was she someone's patron, too? Or had someone been killed in front of her?

“Some lady I don’t even know.” Lorena said a little frustrated. “She was there out back; I had to save her or a man and ended up saving her. They told me that when I saved myself I saved her too.” Was she the only one who was given this option? “They went and killed the other guy, it was absolutely horrible.” It was worst to think about considering she’d end up just like him if she didn’t get all of her coins. “I think my husband made it out of here at least, so that’s a comforting thought.” She hadn’t seen him so she could only guess he’d gotten out quickly.
“Yea, I’ve already sold a few of my things, well… They only took two of the items I had. Candy and a kinder egg. They didn’t want my moldy potato or my red herrings.” That had been a bummer, she wasn’t much a of a fish person. “And I think someone left me 45 coins before. I didn’t see them but I found them in my bag.” She sighed softly, without this mysterious donor coins she didn’t think she could make it out alive.
“I’ll try slots then thanks. I haven’t had much luck with blackjack at all. “Anyways, I won’t hold you here, I’m sure you want to get out as fast as possible. I’ll see you on the other side!” Lorena waved to him and moved on; she really hoped she was going to see him on the other side once all of this was over.
