- Winning hands (winning PLAYER) of each game get 25 casino coins! - Losing players (ALL OTHER PLAYERS IN THE GAME) get -5 casino coins! If you have LESS than 5 casino coins you CANNOT play a game of poker!
DIFFICULTY:
gaia_stargaia_stargaia_star
RULES OF THIS GAME:
[ Step 1]: - You must find a minimum of TWO other players to enter the poker table with you. If you cannot find someone else put a [ OPEN ] at the top of your post. This means you are open for inviting other players. You can have up to 5 people in a poker game thread, if you wish. All players may now come in, and roll in whatever order they wish, you really don't have to wait for players to get your rolls in!
Label your thread [ POKER RP] (PLAYERS HERE). You can play cross faction, obviously! Remember MINIMUM 3 players MAX 5 players!
The player who made the thread is responsible for closing it when finished.
[ Step 2]: All players must now roll 5d12 and make their FIRST POST in that thread. This equals the CARDS they have on their hands where 1= Ace, 11 = Jack, 12 = Queen. There are no kings. Edit your OOC accordingly with your hand. Make a post regarding your hand/entering the thread/ etc.
[ Step 3]: Look at your hand combination. You may now choose to DISCARD one card from your hand you do not like. Select which number you want to discard (from your rolls), and then in a second post, roll 1d12 again. This is your new card. Edit your OOC HAND accordingly, and write a small post of your character. This phase is optional.
[ Step 4]: Look at your hand combination. You may now choose to DISCARD ANOTHER card from your hand you do not like. Select which number you want to discard (from your rolls), and then in your third post, roll 1d12 again. This is your new card. Edit your OOC accordingly, and write a small post of your character. This phase is optional, and your LAST chance to swap cards.
[ Step 4b]: If you somehow have "cash" in your minis inventory, now is the chance to use it! Make a post, and RP that you are using your cash to BRIBE the dealer. Immediately send the cash item to Junkyard. This item WILL be removed from your inventory. When you have done so (don't worry about waiting for confirmation, just do NOT use this item anywhere else or you will be removed from the event), replace any card in your hand with a card of your choice. For example, if your current hand is 1, 2 , 2, 4, 5, with your bribe, you may now change it to 1, 2 3, 4, 5. Proceed to the next step when done. This step is only for CASH people only (if you own this item on the site).
[ Step 5]: You are done swapping cards! This is now your FINAL HAND. We're going to simplify the rules here for Poker so it isn't a big nightmare to complete. Look at the list below:
Select a combination that is APPROPRIATE to your hand. For example, if you have 2, 2, 5, 6, 7, your highest is a pair. If you got 2 3 4 5 6, your highest is a straight. etc etc. Use the form below to submit your final hand and rp out your post.
I AM SUBMITTING MY HAND My card combination: Inventory link: (proof of cash) Character name:
[ Step 6]: When ALL PLAYERS have submitted their hand, simply look at this chart again to see who has the highest combo. If there are two "tied" values, simply look at who has the higher card numbers. That person is the WINNER. If you are the WINNER of the thread, you get 25 casino points. Everyone else has to subtract 5 as penalty. Go ahead and edit your ooc for casino points accordingly.
If players are caught not subtracting points, they will be disqualified from any future poker games! If players do NOT respond in a timely manner despite posting one hand, they will be considered no longer part of the game (-5 penalty for "losing"). The wait period for a timely tag should be 12 hours before moving onwards. You may play multiple poker games at once.
He looked around for them for a while, this casino was HUGE. Even so, when he finally did find Corey and Caroline he didn't give them a chance to say 'no' when he asked them to play a card game with him. Yes, Corey, he would have dragged you away too if he had to. That includes throwing you over his shoulder.
It was a good thing that this Casino took pity on new players, because hell if Charlie had ever played poker before. Sure he heard of it, but this game came complete with a set of instructions and even pointers. To him that was a bonus enough in itself.
"I figure we should at least play something while we try and figure out how the hell this happened." Charlie fussed with his collar.

Corey greatly objected to being hoisted up like a sack of potatos and dragged through the casino to a poker table. She also showed her great objections in various ways, such as choice (and unrepeatable) words, struggling, and a few pinches to his spine, butt, and anywhere she could reach.
"And hopefully win enough coins to get our sorry asses out of here." Corey grumbled from her seat, looking a lot more pale than usual, along with a grip on her cards that suggested she was not okay.

With a soft smile that stopped just short of pitying, Caroline reached to gently guide Charlie's hand away from his collar. She didn't use the opportunity to glance at his cards or shuffle things around; it was a gesture in earnest.
"I know it's hard, feeling the cage, seeing all the ones who want to keep you in," she consoled him. "But if it's all your mind is set on, it gets harder and harder to remember the point of getting out."
As she sat back to arrange her cards, the smile given to Corey was a bit more mischievous, a more familiar sight from the woman.
"We'll manage. We'll save them. They won't have to be trapped. I'll teach you all the tricks if I have to. Could tell you so many good stories from back when I was your age." The smile spread a little wider, and she playfully narrowed her eyes. "I think there's plenty you'd even like, if my instincts about seeing that way you look at someone aren't too rusty."

He found himself rubbing his back where he count reach, some spots he couldn't bend his arm enough. At least Corey would have the pleasure of knowing he would probably have some awkward bruises in awkward places - Sitting was a chore even.
He couldn't take offense as Caroline pulled his hand away from his collar. She was oddly one person he tried not to yell at. She always seemed so.....well yes, weird, but oddly level headed. He found it hard to toss his anger at her. Maybe it was also because she was older, hmm. "I'm just wondering how many of these fools have fallen victim for this establishment to flourish this way, some even appear to be having fun." Maybe they too fell victim to the cage, mentally. A cage was a good way to put it. "Feels more like a c**k pit, kill or be killed."
"Tricks would be nice, though don't try and run." He had seen first hand what happened when you did that. Unfortunately, Charlie was not very smart when it came towards 'hinting' or 'relationships', you really had to take a sledge hammer approach with him. So as Caroline piped in about Corey eying someone, he really didn't clue in to the 'why' bit. "Why are you looking at people weirdly, Corey?" Was it a problem?
He pushed one card back and took another, Hmmm. He glanced at the 'newbie' guide too.

"I feel awful for suggesting we check this place out." The pale woman mumbled. "It's my fault we're here." Corey missed the mischievous smile right away, as she was looking down at her cards, but she saw the tail end of it as she looked up again. The look she gave back was somewhat confused, right up until she started to understand what Caroline was telling her. The confusion melted away into a rather deadpan stare, before she shrugged, and looked back at her cards.
"Rusty is a good way to describe yourself." She hummed, before lifting her gaze back to Charlie. "Not any more than you are, Charliehorse." She laughed, and went to draw a card.

The mention of people having 'fun' seemed to cause what might have best been described as a brain hiccup. For a fraction of a second, she faltered and froze, blank and empty until she could shake it off again.
"Sometimes..." She let the thought trail off as she discarded and drew another card. "...sometimes people need to force themselves to enjoy a situation. For the sake of survival. Don't think less of them." Of me. "Not everyone's as strong as you are."
She tapped the side of her head and grinned. It wasn't clear if this joke was meant to be a compliment or not, but it was easily apparent that she didn't take any amount of offense to Corey's comment.
"First: no, it's not. Get that out of your head now, 'cause I'd better not hear any more of that." Corey was rewarded with the Mom Look. "Second: I'm a well-oiled machine, thank you very much. But good poker face. See? You're getting it."

He honestly had no idea what was going on, and decided in typical Charlie fashion it was a 'girl thing' and stayed quiet.

'I've no problem with letting people enjoy a situation." Corey corrected cooly. "All the power to you, if you don't get yourself killed while doing so." She drew another card, and rearranged her deck to dispose of the extra. She did not, however, comment on the whole strength dig. Strong was not a word she used to describe herself.
Then, she made a face.
"I would rather not discuss how well-oiled you are, thanks." Though she did note, to some degree of amusement, that Charlie was being silent.

Caroline laughed and laughed, and it was a wonder she even remained upright, let alone managed to keep her cards from showing.
"All right, all right," she conceded. "I never had the chance with my own kid, with...well, the..."
She pretended to be distracted by her cards as she shook it off. When she looked back up and glanced between the two of them, she was as impish as ever.
"I'm just saying, if you ever want to talk about boys, girls, both, everyone..."

AND QUIET HE STAYED. Even if he was a bit dense, he finally understood some of this 'girl talk'.
He actually coughed loudly - frankly, he really didn't want to discuss the 'birds and the bees' - Not with these two ladies at least. He instead decided to burrow his face into his cards.
"SO UH..... I have cards." Yes, he was avoiding the topic.

Corey's eyes widened the more Caroline spoke, until she held both hands up in front of her, as if warding off an attacking animal.
"Whoa - Whoa there, Carol - let's not - I don't need the birds and the bees, thank you. I've had enough uh- well, I don't need it." She laid down her cards, though Charlie clearly won. And, speaking of -
"-Why aren't you imparting your parental wisdom on Charlie?!"

Between Charlie's flustered attempt to change directions and Corey's reasoning to do the same, Caroline was laughing again. This time she didn't bother keeping her cards to herself - she set them down on the table while she paused to catch her breath.
"Why isn't he--oh, you thought that didn't apply to you too?" She scrunched up her nose as she shook her head at him. "This goes for both of you. Just because the only child I almost had was a girl doesn't mean both of you aren't--"
She couldn't finish her sentence. Instead, she hooked her elbows around both of their shoulders and pulled them close to her, smooshing her cheek against one, then the other, in what might have been the most awkward hug the casino ever saw.

He looked at his opponents cards - not able to stifle the small laugh that came out of no where. HAH! He Won! he always said his hoodie was good luck... Still though, eying his two opponents he pushed enough coins back at the pair so they didn't lose their fee at least. Though he did give a certain leader a look. "Way to toss me under the bus there Corey-"
"ACK-NO." When grabbed he found himself trying to wiggle away at first- only to make the biggest :C face after a few seconds and reluctantly give in with a huge sigh.
Finally, when let go, he scooted back into his chair, fiddling with the collar once more. "Give a little warning next time you decide to man handle me, geez. " He of course sounded pouty, really pouty.

"You're welcome, Charliehorse! I hope you enjoy those tire tracks. They look great on you!" Then, their resident Mother said something strange. "-Almost?" Corey repeated, surprised. It looked like she wanted to say or do more, but Caroline had hooked their arms together, and pulled them into the strangest, most awkward, and probably very regretful hug.
"Jeez, Mom, please! We need to keep playing!" She humoured her, before shaking her arm until it was released. Once freed, the cards were dealt, and corey looked at her hand.
