Night rolled in and Rook was on edge. Nighttime was always the worst. It was when the creatures were most active and with no sunlight to stop them, they were everywhere. Any poor soul caught out in the dark alone would likely never live long enough to see the dawn of a new day. Not unless they were extremely lucky. In fact, that could be him if he didn't get back. He had over stayed his time in zone one. He needed to get out of here and--
There was a sudden loud crackling bang, the sheer volume almost made him jump straight out of his skin. Were they under attack? The last time he had heard something that loud, people were shooting and throwing grenades at them.
He hoped down from the ledge he was perched on and turned a corner to run towards the edge of the road, only to gape at what he saw. "What the fu--flares?" No, flares were silent when they were in the air. Fireworks then? "Wh--seriously? But ho--why--you've got to be friggin kidding me!" Were those people insane? They were going to draw in every damned undying and infected in the area! They were going to get themselves killed! Hell, they were going to get him killed!
If he was on edge before, he was numb with fear now. He felt so nervous that he might throw up, and yet, for all his concern, aside from the occasional boom of the fireworks, the place was completely void of any life. No undead, no infected. It was silent. A little too silent.
The fireworks eventually stopped; the light trickling in the sky before it too faded away, but now that they were gone, his attention was no longer on the sky and he noticed the glow of a light in the distance. Is that..? Some inner voice told him to stay away. To go back to the university and to the safety of his group. But he was a curious soul, always had been, and he soon found himself being drawn towards the source of light. Besides, he might as well investigate and report back what he found right? Maybe it was some rescue squad come to help them? Or another group that had survived Day Zero?
That thought was quickly discarded the moment he saw the gaudy building front of 'Delta Casino.' The place was lit up like a damned Christmas tree. How the hell was that even possible? Not even a massive generator could pull that off. Not without taking a s**t ton of fuel, anyways. If he really thought about it, it was strange. Not to mention, suspicious and... Damn how long had it been since he had seen such a warm and inviting light? He was so accustomed to the dim, flickering light of the university that he had almost forgotten what it was like. Perhaps... Perhaps he could take just a little look. Maybe find some help or get some information, perhaps...?
Well that was the idea.

The first thing that hit him was the smell. Rook had always had a somewhat keen sense of smell and the scent of this place, to be honest, was a little too strong for his taste. He wasn't one for booze and being an athlete, he definitely didn't like cigarettes and usually pardoned himself, should any of his classmates treated themselves to either. But now that he was actually here, he might as well have a look.
There was an impressive line-up of machines, but since he had never actually played many of these games, aside from a few laid back poker games with his friends, he mostly ignored them and chose instead to look for some sign of life. He was beginning to think the place was empty and move further into the building, when a man in a fashionable suit and vest appeared, welcoming him with a customary-- "Welcome to Delta Casinos! To begin, we will play with a currency called Casino coins. You can use them later for fantastic prizes!" Before Rook could even say anything some coins were pressed into his hand, leaving him a little dumbfounded.
"Erm, thanks, but I'm really just here to look for--" He fell silent when he noticed that the man had already walked off. Okay then.

Nothing....
Your character refuses to play, for a variety of reasons. They just stand there. Make a new post in your [ Casino solo ] thread and RP out why your character refused. When you are done, continue reading the post below!
Make sure in this post you include your usual OOC segment [ AND LOG THE AMOUNT OF CASINO COINS YOU HAVE ]. You should have a base of 25 to start!
Even now that he had coins to play the machines, Rook chose to do nothing. He wasn't here to play. He was here for information. Instead, he simply pocketed the coins and waited.

The longer the time passed, the more dizzy he felt. Perhaps the smell really was beginning to get to be too much for him. Though he didn't think it would be this bad.
He gave a shake of his head, trying to rid himself of the fuzzy feeling and walk towards the exit, when his vision began to spin. Okay. That wasn't normal. Something was causing it. Immediately his mind retraced what happened since he entered the building, trying to recall what might have caused it. But just as he reached out a hand to steady himself, he collapsed and was swept away by darkness.
By the time he started to wake, he was vaguely aware of the dull ache in his body and heavy feeling in his limbs. However, it wasn't until he attempted to move that he realized that he was strapped down; tied to a chair. Oh shi-- How had he ******** up this badly? Better yet, who was behind it? He would have looked around the room for the one responsible, but his head was held securely in place by the bonds around his neck. Instead he focused on regaining his senses. That was when the lights came on.
"Attention all Casino players! Welcome to our tenth annual casino games! A big round of applause to our new players!"
He remained still, the sudden applause was like thunder in his ears and allowed him to realize, even though he couldn't see, that he was surrounded by people.
"Now, let us explain the rules for the new casino players! All of you are given a number. There is a lucky lottery number drawing, if your number is drawn, you get to escape from here free. Lucky you! For everyone else, well, you are not so lucky. I'm afraid the only freedom for you comes from buying it. That's right, each of you have been given, and assessed a value. If you wish to escape, and you must do so by the end of this day, you must buy out your own value or we will buy you."
He felt his mouth go dry. Was this even happening? Here he had thought his end would come at the hands of some undead creature, or some shadowy eyeball with teeth. Now he was caught in someone's, some human's, trap and was going to be sold for God knows what. How the hell was he going to be able to buy his freedom?
"'How may I buy myself out?', you may ask. Well, that is simple! All you have to do is play any of our games in our casino with Casino Coins! When you have earned enough Casino Coins equal to your value, you may request to make a purchase. Now, we aren't heartless here. You may purchase yourself, or another player. You may even purchase both if you have enough! Wouldn't that be nice! Anyone left unpurchased will be property of the Casino, and be auctioned for our dinner fundraiser tonight."
The coins! His hand twitched with the urge to check if the coins he had pocketed earlier were still there. Had they taken them, or did they leave his belongings untouched?
He hadn't noticed the pause of the announcer until he spoke up again, forcing him to snatch his attention back to the speakers.
"Any questions?" One per person please!"

Remain silent.
Before you can talk again, an attendant, wearing the Casino suit and vest, comes over and grabs you and your entire chair. You are dragged into a separate room. There are two people in the room, in the same situation as you.
"Now," booms the announcer voice in the new room, a much smaller one, "these are the losing players from the last game. A Bunch of sore losers if you ask me. But we're giving you a chance to redeem one as their patron. If you manage to buy yourself out of the games, then you will also buy one of them out too. Now, which one will it be?"
Rook didn't bother to answer the man, he was having a hard enough time breathing, let alone attempting to speak. What would he ask him anyways? 'Gee how could you do this?' or 'Who are you to kidnap me?' Please. He doubted he'd get any real answers out of them anyways.
It didn't matter either way, because shortly after the announcer stopped speaking, another attendant entered the room and literally dragged him and the chair he was strapped to, into the last room, where he was faced towards two other people. A man and a woman. Neither he knew, but judging by the looks on their faces, they were just as much a victim as he was.
"these are the losing players from the last game. A Bunch of sore losers if you ask me. But we're giving you a chance to redeem one as their patron. If you manage to buy yourself out of the games, then you will also buy one of them out too. Now, which one will it be?"
He was kidding right? How was he supposed to choose a life? The very idea made him sick.
The woman or the man? Which should he... The woman terrified, but she was older, she had likely lived her life a lot longer than the kid sitting next to her. He barely looked as though he was even out of high school.
"The kid..."

The Young Man
You select him and they begin to untie him, dragging the lady off to the room beyond. The lady screams the entire time, and you feel obligated to ask what is in that room, when suddenly the man you rescued dashes for the exit the other direction.
Immediately, several bullets are fired, and the teen dies. You stare down in disbelief.
"What a freaking waste," exclaims the announcer, "well, whatever. I guess you don't get to be a patron after all. Now, let's continue onwards, shall we?
More people entered, untying the kid, while other dragged the woman off into the next room; her screams echoing through the building and piercing his ears. He was never going to forgive himself for that.
The snap of the last bond strapping the kid in, drew his attention back, just in time to witness several shots being fired, directly into his back, killing him.
"What a freaking waste," The voice was more like background noise as he numbly stared at the lifeless body across the room. Had he just made the wrong choice? "well, whatever. I guess you don't get to be a patron after all. Now, let's continue onwards, shall we?"
He was really beginning to feel like he was going to throw up now.
