CLEARVIEW MAID SERVICE Early on, cleanup was of the utmost importance. There were undying intruders to be dealt with, former residents to bury, and chaos to bring under control through cleanliness.
These days, most of the messes that need to be dealt with are the everyday sort. Food spills, bathroom... mishaps, and general dust are the first things people lose interest in cleaning up, which makes them vital to keep on top of. If you've decided to take on some cleaning duties or have been assigned to do so, here's how you'll accomplish that.

Step One - Which Floor?
Generate a random number between 1 and 22. This is the floor that the apartment you'll be cleaning is on. You may choose which specific apartment to clean OOCly. As stated in the rules, there are nine apartments on each floor. They are numbered in multiples of 10, preceded by the number of the floor they're on. (i.e. 110, 120, 130 ... 2170, 2180, 2190.) The entirety of the 22nd floor is the penthouse.
If you're in a group, only one person has to roll for the floor you're on.
Step Two - Clean!
Roll 1d4. The higher the number, the dirtier the apartment. After you roll, you must make one additional RP post for each "degree of filth" in order to clean it. (Roll a 3, make three more RP posts, etc.) When you've made these posts, you're done! The space is clean.
If you're in a group, each member must roll for their own degree of filth.

It was likely that nobody had been up to floor 21 in a while. It was also likely that nobody was up there and nobody would interrupt the cleaning process. There might be a large mess, or there might be only small ones. Either way, someone had to go check it out and clean up whatever was up there, and today that someone happened to be Micah, and he had discovered rather to his displeasure that today he was working with the kid.
Accordingly, he had taken it upon himself to haul the bucket with the bulk of the cleaning supplies, because he was pretty sure it'd be a lot easier for him to haul the heavy stuff. She could get the broom and mop up all those flights of stairs. "Floor 21," he announced crossly, and hauled the door open, holding it for her.
Crow followed closely after Micha all the way. Diligently keeping mop and broom close with the bristles held safely above her head and away from her hair. When they finally reached the room, she shot him a questioning glance. The room he led her to wasn't the worst she's seen but it certainly wasn't the best either. Was that a pile of rat skeletons in the corner?
She carefully leaned the mop and broom against the nearest wall and looked his way again, "Um... Mister?... Uh...." She wasn't the best with names but she pointed at the duster which he had apparently chosen to carry himself. While she appreciated his chivalry, she still secretly enjoyed that part.

"Micah," he said, a little gruffly. "You don't have to call me mister." Still, the politeness had gotten her points, as had the quiet lack of complaining on the way up all those stairs. "You wanna dust? I'll get the bones outta there." He dropped the bucket on the floor with a thud and handed her the duster, then got the dustpan and broom form himself.
The tangle of little bones in the corner was mostly picked clean and jumbled together, which suggested that some kind of animal had gotten in here at some point. "Better check the windows," Micah said to himself. They were on the 21st floor, so it wasn't real likely that infected would come in the windows, but better safe than sorry. He brushed the bones into the dustpan and turned to dump them into the trash bag.

Crow started to fiddle nervously with her fingers at what she perceived to be a reprimand, "Yes sir, sorry mi-sir-...." She clipped her mouth shut and shuffled over to take the duster and silently and shakily shuffled back over to dust down quite a few cobwebs. She seemed oddly intrigued with the way the threads stuck to the duster and then spun it like a large spool until all of it was gone. Soon everything had been dusted down; ceiling, corners, walls, counters, anything that could collect dust was now dust free.
She looked back to him, seeming to forget the anxious awkwardness that had transpired just moments ago. Beaming proudly and now covered in dust herself. She didn't even care that she was now wearing a small dust-bunny like a barrette in her hair. She just cared about what was next.

As Crow dusted, Micah got out a brush, some rags, and a spray bottle of water and vinegar, and sprayed down the stain in the ratty carpet where the little bones had been lying. He scrubbed at it for a while, getting the worst of the stuff out and wiping it up with the rags. It wasn't going to come out completely; that would have required steam cleaning, chemicals, or a lot more elbow grease than he was willing to provide. But he could get it mostly clean.
When he'd finished that, he tossed the rags back into the bucket and picked up the broom. Crow had a dust bunny in her hair. He reached over and plucked it off, then dropped it into the trash bag. "Good job," he said, a bit less crankily than before. The kid was quiet, polite, and helpful, which was a lot more than you could say for most kids her age. "Wanna check the windows? Make sure they're all closed and locked, tell me if anything's open or broken, 'kay?"

Crow nodded excitedly before seeking out a rag from the bucket. She made sure it was one with the least amount of rat cooties. Like really inspected it to make sure it at least seemed clean. When she was sure it was fine, she dipped it again and wrung it out before heading over to the windows. While wiping down the windows her head seemed tilted just so, listening cautiously at all times whether she was aware of it or not.
Listening and observing at all times, as much as possible. The quieter the moment, the harder she would listen. This is what kept her alive so far.
As soon as she finished the window, she inspected the latch to ensure it was properly caught and locked. Even getting up on her tip-toes to push up on the window to be absolutely sure. Yup, shut tight. She moved on to the next window and repeated the entire process again. Suddenly freezing part way through as she heard a distant thumping. She determined it was from up stairs some where - and it quickly quieted. Not a threat, just a nuisance. She returned to her work, glancing over at her co-worker curiously from time to time as her work drew to a close and the wash rag returned to the bucket. After the floors were done, the room was certainly finished.
"Done?" She asked for confirmation.

While Crow wiped down and checked all the windows, Micah swept the floor, going over the carpet as well as the linoleum areas. Nobody was living in this apartment, so there wasn't a lot of dirt built up; whoever had lived here seemed not to have come home. Or maybe it just hadn't been rented out for a while. Yeah, Micah decided, it just hadn't been used. He felt better about that idea. He got the piles of dust swept up and dumped into the trash bag, and did a quick check inside the bathroom and the closet, finding nothing gross and nothing of interest.
"Done," he agreed. He hesitated a moment, then reached out and awkwardly ruffled Crow's hair. "You did good." He'd missed the thumping, busy with his sweeping.

Crow sputtered a little and quickly tried to fix the inevitable cowlick ruffled up by the attention to her hair. She grabbed the mop and broom and quickly waited at the door for him. To be honest, these vacant rooms creeped her out the most and she hoped someone would move in now that they fixed it. It wasn't likely.

Micah gathered up the rest of the supplies and stepped out of the apartment, and closed the door once Crow had come out. "Next time maybe it won't be the 21st floor," he griped amiably, and headed for the stairs.
