[ OBJECTIVE 3: ] (Anya has 5 items!)
Quote:

- Try to make communications with the outside world
OOC: Try to make communications with the outside world. There is a RADIO CONTROL station set up. Unfortunately, masses of the infected wander around it. You need to sneak around the masses undetected to try to get to the top of the radio tower to work it.

[ Step 1 ] Radio tower detection is determined by how much your character is carrying.
A player character NOTHING in their (minis) inventory rolls 1d4. A victory is a 1-3
A player carrying 1 item in their minis inventory rolls 1d6. A victory is a 1-4
A player carrying 2+ items in their minis inventory rolls 1d10. A victory is a 1-5

If you roll a FAIL, the mobs of infected notice you, and begin to chase you. GAME OVER (this task is a FAIL). Otherwise, continue forward.

Mission Bonus: +1 random clothing item. Pick it up here after dropping off the form below.
Faction Bonus:+ 1 bonus district point in your choice (drop off using the bonus district points form in your main faction info thread)

Anya’s face hurt… but she moved further into bandit territory… The radio tower was calling! Not that she’d be able to talk over the radio since the jaw was in so much pain and her tongue felt badly swollen. But maybe she’d hear someone, hear information…. Hear her lost friends. It was a slim chance but one she was willing to take. Especially if it meant she could avoid the bandits and fighting!

As she slunk around, keeping as silent as possible and stopping moving the instant she heard something more, she noticed that more and more infected were about. The closer she got the slower the going was. She kept having to hide behind ruble, fallen trash cans, pretend to be a dead body to keep from fighting. It was difficult to resist hiding in shadows… but that was where the undying lurked most of the time! So she staid far away from the truly dark shadows and buildings with no light inside them.

She looked up at the radio tower from her current hiding spot and planned how to get inside and to the top as she waited for the shuffling infected to leave. I’ll have to risk those stairs… all the stairs. She thought with an inner sigh. If something noticed her as she was on them she’d be dead! No where to run to and she was definitely not jumping off the tower! Though maybe it’d be easier to escape that way… and maybe she’d die a quick death and not turn into infected? It was a small hope.

She took a deep breath…. Well at least as deep of one she could with a broken jaw and not hurting herself…. And moved in once the way was clear.

She dashed across the rubble filled street and into the doorway. The lights were flickering inside… but at least it wasn’t pitch black! I need a flashlight, she thought as she crept forward and looked around before slipping into the stairs.

[ Step 2 ]
You reach the top of the radio tower. Now, you see why this is an issue. At the top of the stairs is a room, and it is filled with hundreds of different communications lines. You would have to try each one to see if it works. It would take hours, days, if not months.

Roll 1d100. Match your dice roll to the result below an RP it out. You may keep on rolling until you are satisfied with your result, and then you may leave at any point.
1- 20: You get static on your line. It didn't work.
21 - 40: You get what sounds like someone talking on the line but it is difficult to make out.
41 - 60: You hear something. Someone shouting "Hello? This is-." It gets cut off.
61 - 80: You hear something. It comes loud and clear. "This is prerecorded emergency broadcast. If you are listening to this, you are in critical danger. Find the nearest shelter immediately and hide until further authorities notify you. Do not attempt to contact local authorities. Do not leave your house. This is not a drill."
81-90: You hear something. "- supplies shipped in daily. We try to do it from the air but we don't have many choppers left. They will dwindle after a while. --- seven days --- then ----" It cuts off.
91-100: You hear something. "-- you don't know me but I'm here to help you. Don't listen to anything they tell you. They have it wrong. -- Listen closely. -- undying are not the problem. The thorns are. They cannot be destroyed. Avoid them -- contagious -- do not touch. -- spread. That's how the virus replicates. -- too late for you. They will not let you leave."

After a long and tiring climb to the stop of the stairs, Anya took a quick break. She looked out a window and tried to see if the infected had noticed her… but she couldn’t see anything. Shrugging she opened the door slightly and peeked in, making sure nothing was in here either. Once she was certain it was safe, Anya opened the door and winced at the sight. The entire room was filled with wires and communication lines… she didn’t know how to work this! Was it a wasted trip? Perhaps…. But she had to try something right?

She out on the headphones and sat so she could keep an eye on the door as she plugged in wires and hopped for something to answer.

Static was all she got on the line. An annoying buzzing sound that was louder than expected. She flinched and little and unplugged it. Not that line then!

Unplugging both lines, she reconnected them on different ports, hoping that by randomly picking things she’d reached someone. Not a lot of hope in that thought but since she was here she could spend some time messing around right?

This is prerecorded emergency broadcast. If you are listening to this, you are in critical danger. Find the nearest shelter immediately and hide until further authorities notify you. Do not attempt to contact local authorities. Do not leave your house. This is not a drill."

Blasted in her ear. She winced again and looked around for a dial or something to lower the volume…. There were dials! A lot of them... just none with labels! She tried to frown but stopped when a stab of pain stabbed through her jaw.

More random selections, more static. Nothing was working! She treid turning the dials and eventually found one that appeared to lower the volume… she just wasn’t sure what the others did and hoped she hadn’t messed things up by randomly turning them!

She stopped and went to listen at the stairs for sounds of anything coming up. Nothing yet: she was still safe.

She perked up slightly when the next one didn’t have static, but sagged back down when she heard the prerecorded message ring out again. At least it wasn’t deafening anymore! She tried a few more but got the same message. Was she looking at the public broad cast or radio stations? Maybe she should change her location…. But then she couldn’t keep an eye on the door!

She shifted a bit to the left and tried a bunch of those but got only static. Prerecorded messages and static.. this really is a wasted trip! She thought sourly. All that effort getting here undetected for nothing!

She tried one last one and heard … voices? She leaned in and focused on the sounds but couldn’t make anything out. Drat… nothing! Raising the volume a bit she still got too much static interfering with the words.

Maybe they’ll be able to hear me?

“This is Anya f--om the Uni—si--y” She mumbled slowly, trying to speak but finding it hard to do so without the pain. “I cannot hea-- you…. If you need he-p go to Uni—si---y.” It was garbled but maybe they’d be able to understand? She sighed and put the headset down and let the tower… time to return.
