"I'm Monica Chavez, and I'm gonna ferret out some more supplies," Monica grumbled. Actually, she didn't mind this so much - what she did mind was that she hadn't seen Cory in...well, in a really long time. Was he okay? Had he been eating? She'd managed to pass by some people who looked like they'd been utterly deprived of food. That wasn't the case here, of course - the prison was constantly receiving new supply parachutes.
But just in case...Monica tied her shoelaces carefully. It was time to go on a run. Monica was well-equipped for that, right? She was probably wearing a few too many sweaters, but extra warmth never did hurt, in Monica's opinion. So what if she sweated?
...well, some people probably cared very much whether Monica sweated. It wasn't like it'd get in the water supply, though, and she'd steered pretty clear of the thorns even before that ominous message on the radio. She folded her things carefully into her bags and went jogging. She stopped by another branch of that weird pretentious pet store first - she was quickly growing to appreciate its significance as a source of water for her faction. "Well..." she murmured. Were they okay? Yep, two bottles of water for her hoard here.
She swung by a more unfamiliar-looking building next. She didn't really know where it was, but a stray doll on the floor and a cacophony of...spilled Legos, ew, quickly told her: it'd been a toy store. Ugh...
Well, they had to have employees, right? Monica rushed over to check out their goods. Yes! A water bottle. She was doing well today.

She swung her arms up to pump excitedly at the air. Monica Chavez was a champion water-finder! And there was even another cubicle in this office. Smartly she reached over and - yes! More water. She had some incredible instincts for liquid location, if she could say so herself.
It still only amounted to two bottles out of this toy store, but that was still more than she'd expected. She gave the room another cursory sweep before running into the next building, which was recognizably a grocery store. She was sure to find something here. Right?
...right? Actually, Monica was beginning to realize that she was having trouble. "Dangit - it looks like everyone else has been here," she mumbled, brows furrowed.
But it had to have a staff area, too, right? Or some secret storage room?
Enthused, Monica hurried over to go check. And...jackpot! Tucked away on the bottom corner of a shelf (you had to be short to notice this one, Monica thought to herself) were two shiny unopened bottles of water.
Moving on.

Monica patted herself on the back for that. Good find, good find, she thought. She just had to find a few more stashes and then she'd be golden to return home. She ducked into a new building only to find that it was the by now disappointingly familiar computer store. How did she keep finding her way back to the same place? Had this place been her home before the apocalypse or something? Monica was pretty sure she'd have remembered that.
She jogged a little ways off the road to find a building with a torn off door that was most decidedly not part of the commercial district. But some people kept water in their fridges, right? Monica had to dig past rotting food to get to it, but it sure was there. "Guess I'll have to clean these off," she said, frowning. But who could be picky now?

Monica grew more careful as she gained more and more bottles of water. She didn't want to attract negative attention...again. She hesitated a bit when she spotted the convenience store, but...
Oh, what could it hurt? She ran in, scooped up some bottles of water, and then promptly started on her way home.

The problem was that now Monica had a follower. Again.
"Seriously?" she huffed out. "I'm even threatening now! I have this!"
She pulled out her fishing rod, making sure that her bottles of water were safe and sound in her bag. Then she thwacked the infected with it, a very simple process.
It went down a lot easier than the other ones had gone. Monica harrumphed. "Serves you right," she muttered, and then turned tail and ran again.

It was just a block to get back to the prison. Monica dashed easily down it. As if this run could conquer her now - she already knew the way so well! When she was in safe territory again she had to check her bag. What if there was another hole in it and she was out some of her water?
That was a silly thought, she remembered, when she had counted all ten of them. Her bag would've been lighter in that case. Whoops. Water: 10 water! Infected HP: 0/5
