Feeling like complete and utter crap still, Joy Ann dragged herself back to the kitchen because apparently their faction needed more food. After all she'd done and been through today, she was actively thinking for once, but they were only uncharitable thoughts. Granted, Autumn was currently blind, so it was hard for the woman to help in any useful ways, but still... It was sad there were so few of them on kitchen duty.
Minding her jaw, Joy Ann stumbled over to the pantry, wondering if the warden had brought in any other strange meats for them to use. Apocalypses could really widen the definition of 'palatable options' in amazing ways.
Zone 1 - Currently has a broken jaw and can't speak well.

Mmm, maybe the meat didn't look so good actually... Joy Ann stuck to grabbing grains and vegetables, since the grains didn't seem to have any bugs in them and you couldn't really go wrong with peas and corn. They used to serve peas and corn a lot at the kindergarten-- And grabbing both the salt and sugar canisters now, because she couldn't tell which was which by just looking at them and she really ought to get cooking. People were waiting on the food, and that meant they were depending on her. She didn't have time to break down again right now, thanks.
Anyways, the dull ache of her jaw was more than enough to compete with the dull ache of her heart as she steamed the grains and then added in the canned vegetables. Canning was really a miracle of not-so-modern science. She absentmindedly added a half a cup of SUGAR. ...and then realized what she'd done. Ah well, it'd just be... Sweet. Joy Ann liked sweet.
A pinch of salt, and that ought to do it. What she could really use right now would be Shaun to taste-test this for her... Or she could pry open her aching mouth and eat some of it herself. She had to eat sometime today, and this did look pretty soft... Maybe she could manage it.

Oh, she would never have imagined that food could ever taste this good. It was like magic, wonderful, wonderful magic.
Joy Ann hummed with delight then coughed, tears coming to her eyes with the pain. Ow, ow, ow... She'd just scoop herself out a small bowl of her grain and vegetable smush so she could very slowly let it dissolve in her broken mouth, and she'd serve up the rest to the people who were waiting on food. SUGAR made everything better.
