OOC

gaia_crown [ OBJECTIVE 3: ]

- Try to make communications with the outside world
OOC: Try to make communications with the outside world. There is a RADIO CONTROL station set up. Unfortunately, masses of the infected wander around it. You need to sneak around the masses undetected to try to get to the top of the radio tower to work it.

[ Step 1 ] Radio tower detection is determined by how much your character is carrying.

A player character NOTHING in their (minis) inventory rolls 1d4. A victory is a 1-3

A player carrying 1 item in their minis inventory rolls 1d6. A victory is a 1-4

A player carrying 2+ items in their minis inventory rolls 1d10. A victory is a 1-5

If you roll a FAIL, the mobs of infected notice you, and begin to chase you. GAME OVER (this task is a FAIL). Otherwise, continue forward.

[ Step 2 ]

You reach the top of the radio tower. Now, you see why this is an issue. At the top of the stairs is a room, and it is filled with hundreds of different communications lines. You would have to try each one to see if it works. It would take hours, days, if not months.

Roll 1d100. Match your dice roll to the result below an RP it out. You may keep on rolling until you are satisfied with your result, and then you may leave at any point.

1- 20: You get static on your line. It didn't work.

21 - 40: You get what sounds like someone talking on the line but it is difficult to make out.

41 - 60: You hear something. Someone shouting "Hello? This is-." It gets cut off.

61 - 80: You hear something. It comes loud and clear. "This is prerecorded emergency broadcast. If you are listening to this, you are in critical danger. Find the nearest shelter immediately and hide until further authorities notify you. Do not attempt to contact local authorities. Do not leave your house. This is not a drill."

81-90: You hear something. "- supplies shipped in daily. We try to do it from the air but we don't have many choppers left. They will dwindle after a while. --- seven days --- then ----" It cuts off.

91-100: You hear something. "-- you don't know me but I'm here to help you. Don't listen to anything they tell you. They have it wrong. -- Listen closely. -- undying are not the problem. The thorns are. They cannot be destroyed. Avoid them -- contagious -- do not touch. -- spread. That's how the virus replicates. -- too late for you. They will not let you leave."

One of the tasks set by the Harbingers was to make contact with the outside world. For this, they'd referred her to a handy radio control station.

Not so handily, it was absolutely swarmed by the undead. Sylvi leaned back against the wall currently hiding her from their view and tried to think of the positives. They hadn't spotted her yet - so far, so good. Nevermind that with the sheer amount of them, getting past them un-seen would be a herculean task. Was she good at sneaking? It wasn't really something she'd had a lot of practice in, and this constant dizziness might be a bit (just a bit) of a hindrance; but surely it couldn't be worse than attempting to suppress one of the damn things.

Maybe. Probably.

She wasn't really feeling all that confident - maybe she should have looked around for someone to partner with for this, someone who knew a bit more about the art of concealment. Although where she'd find someone with those skills she wasn't quite sure - all the crooks in the prison were there because they'd gotten caught, after all.

Right, but she was getting off track and the nausea was rising again. That'd be just her luck, mobbed by a bunch of undying because the sounds of her vomiting gave her away.

At that thought, Sylvi looked upwards, breathed slow and deep and started counting in her head. When she'd gotten to 30, most of the nausea had abated.

She needed a game plan, but the place was swarmed and moving around to scope out what the best entrance was seemed a hazardous idea at best, deadly at worst. Maybe she just needed to take a risk and go for the entrance she'd already found; it was right there after all, and if she watched the undead for a bit maybe she could figure out some pattern to their movements and use that to sneak around them, RPG style.

Right. Nodding firmly to cement her courage, the blonde took another deep breath before moving to peek out from behind her wall again.

Christ there was a lot of them. Some of them were moving quite slowly, lethargically almost, while others were more along the speed of a normal human. She watched for a few minutes, keeping as still as possible and trying to discern any patterns.

There were absolutely zero, as far as she could tell. They just seemed to be randomly moving in no particular order - she'd watched one of them making loopy circles for far longer than anyone else she'd ever seen. Clearly these things did not suffer from dizziness, she thought just a tad irritably.

But this probably meant that the best chance she had to making it into the radio control tower was just making a go for it when she eyed a chance.

The wait wasn't too long after that; a bit of free space opened up and Sylvi slowly, carefully moved closer to the entrance. She was almost there, the way was clear and then - the damn undead making circles around itself came upon her, gave a high-pitched screech and then before she knew it they were swarming in from all sides.

She ran like she'd never ran before, almost falling over a few times (vertigo and running was a s**t combination) but continuing on out of sheer desperation. There was no ******** way she'd survive a fight with that many undying, absolutely none. Her legs ached, her lungs were on fire and it felt like her head was about to fall off but after a long, hard sprint she had actually managed to shake the things off her trail.

Well, that could've gone better. But at least she wasn't dead, right?

OOC

Light concussion from blunt weapon to head. Suffers from dizziness, vertigo, blurred vision, and minor cognitive impairment. May induce vomiting.
