- Try to make communications with the outside world OOC: Try to make communications with the outside world. There is a RADIO CONTROL station set up. Unfortunately, masses of the infected wander around it. You need to sneak around the masses undetected to try to get to the top of the radio tower to work it.
[ Step 1 ] Radio tower detection is determined by how much your character is carrying.
A player character NOTHING in their (minis) inventory rolls 1d4. A victory is a 1-3
A player carrying 1 item in their minis inventory rolls 1d6. A victory is a 1-4
A player carrying 2+ items in their minis inventory rolls 1d10. A victory is a 1-5
If you roll a FAIL, the mobs of infected notice you, and begin to chase you. GAME OVER (this task is a FAIL). Otherwise, continue forward.
[ Step 2 ]
You reach the top of the radio tower. Now, you see why this is an issue. At the top of the stairs is a room, and it is filled with hundreds of different communications lines. You would have to try each one to see if it works. It would take hours, days, if not months.
Roll 1d100. Match your dice roll to the result below an RP it out. You may keep on rolling until you are satisfied with your result, and then you may leave at any point.
1- 20: You get static on your line. It didn't work.
21 - 40: You get what sounds like someone talking on the line but it is difficult to make out.
41 - 60: You hear something. Someone shouting "Hello? This is-." It gets cut off.
61 - 80: You hear something. It comes loud and clear. "This is prerecorded emergency broadcast. If you are listening to this, you are in critical danger. Find the nearest shelter immediately and hide until further authorities notify you. Do not attempt to contact local authorities. Do not leave your house. This is not a drill."
81-90: You hear something. "- supplies shipped in daily. We try to do it from the air but we don't have many choppers left. They will dwindle after a while. --- seven days --- then ----" It cuts off.
91-100: You hear something. "-- you don't know me but I'm here to help you. Don't listen to anything they tell you. They have it wrong. -- Listen closely. -- undying are not the problem. The thorns are. They cannot be destroyed. Avoid them -- contagious -- do not touch. -- spread. That's how the virus replicates. -- too late for you. They will not let you leave."

Step 1
Gretel had made her move, for the survival of the mall rats. She wasn't sure how Jeff observed it, she always remained composed as she knew only herself can help her. A damned ghost? Was lacking of food and drink make her face pale and dry? The insomnia problem was that obvious already? Was she close to be scythed? Jeff's care and the foods he shoved her, she felt awkward and weird. The sentiment was something new to her, she wondered if Jeff implicitly wanted something in return.
She couldn't deny it feel warm to be cared of, besides her parents. Yet, she was so used to be alone that it felt unsettling to own a favour. Thus she braved the radio tower, hoping the information she would get might benefit the mall faction. Gretel entrusted her items to Rebecca, seeing her holding them with one arm and a big smile made her feel slightly guilty. She said thank you from her heart.
She got near to the tower, but hordes of infected wandered around it. She took out her mask to cover her breathe and squatted as she advanced. With her hearing taken, all she could rely on was her sight, smell and instincts. People generally called the sixth sense. The slim Caucasian felt wise to put her mask on, the rotten fleshes reeked and it was unable to hold the gag. The smell filled the environment like a blanket, she spaced her breathes as she moved. Even though the infected had their vision degraded, she wouldn't risk it. Gretel hid behind tall trees and big rocks, her grey eyes never stopping roam around for the slightest change.
Knowing sans a weapon, it would be the worst case to fight an infected alone, her nerves all tensed up for over 100% coccentration until she made it to the entrance of the tower.

Infected seemed have their intelligence downgraded, the stairs to the top was clear. She breathed out in relief as she closed the door of the room. "What.....the....mess?" She never been to a radio tower, the loads of buttons and switches in front of her eyes gave her a headache. Gretel told herself to clam and think with a deep breathe, she walked close and spent a few minutes to analyse the set-up. There were small words on the large control board, she contemplated again, with more hints this time.
If she recalled correctly, the first step would be select a channel then the input. She randomly picked the first on the leftmost and casually chose the input. Thus she pressed the on button.
41 - 60: You hear something. Someone shouting "Hello? This is-." It gets cut off.
The third channel received something and as she grabbed her mic, "Hello -", it died out. At least one channel was working and linked to the outside, telling her besides the four factions, there were someone else. Good news is better than none.
61 - 80: You hear something. It comes loud and clear. "This is prerecorded emergency broadcast. If you are listening to this, you are in critical danger. Find the nearest shelter immediately and hide until further authorities notify you. Do not attempt to contact local authorities. Do not leave your house. This is not a drill."
Recollected herself, Gretel tried again. At first it was all static she gently twisted the switch on the tuner, the sandy sound cleared out and she heard something. "This is prerecorded emergency broadcast. If you are listening to this, you are in critical danger. Find the nearest shelter immediately and hide until further authorities notify you. Do not attempt to contact local authorities. Do not leave your house. This is not a drill." The moment she heard the voice, the first action was to reply, the part mouth closed realized it was only a repeating message one second later.
Gretel risked to raise the volume, despite her ears were beeping painfully. The message had she worried about her parents, it was possible the situation was worse than she expected. She wished they were fine. On the other hand, the message also made the announcement of seven days more skeptical....... she needed more information.

The next channel put her in alarm, Gretel knew Delta was fallen but supplies were what their hopes on survival. That was what she was looking for, even it didn't seem to be good news in her opinion. First, they were cut off from the outside, her guess was the vines that blocked all the roads leading to Delta and might be aggressively knocking down flying objects approached. Second, the supplies from Delta was diminishing and their survival would be harder after seven days.
She hoped there would be solution for the virus and they could be rescued, but Gretel knew how cruel the world she was living.

The channel cut out didn't give any sound no matter how she fiddled with the switch. Giving up, she moved on. It seemed to have something but too blurred to be tangible.
91-100: You hear something. "-- you don't know me but I'm here to help you. Don't listen to anything they tell you. They have it wrong. -- Listen closely. -- undying are not the problem. The thorns are. They cannot be destroyed. Avoid them -- contagious -- do not touch. -- spread. That's how the virus replicates. -- too late for you. They will not let you leave."
She watched the clock and realized she spent too much time there so she decided the next channel would be her last one no matter what result she got. She leaned closely naturally to the speaker for the whisper-like voice. "They?" she said to herself, quickly resumed to listen further.
Gretel squinted her grey eyes at the undying and thorns but waited til they finished. "How do you prove your words? Who are they? Are we part of an experiment or sacrifices? Answer me." There was nothing, she switched it off and jotted down the information before she headed back in misgivings.
