When Ellie got to the top of the pole, she didn't even look she just grabbed. It wasn't until she had carefully slid down the pole and had her feet on the ground that she saw what she got.
The moment her eyes fell on the chip bag, they began to sparkle! It'd been a good while since she'd eaten anything as filling as chips! Quickly, she shuffles out of the area and pops open the bag; instantly the wonderous smell of salt and potatos hits her! Inside, the nice large chips were perfectly crisped and salted. They weren't Lays, but they would do.
Chip after chip disappeared as she savored every bite. By the time she reached Staples, the bag was empty and her stomach was full! "Ahhh... That was good..." she sighs happily as she tosses the bag in a defunked trashbin out of habit. Hey, things were dirty enough! She didn't need to make them dirtier. She'd never understood how people could subsist off chips, -- Being that she was more into healthy foods then junk food -- But now? She understood, she really understood! When you were hungry, anything would do! Even greasy junk food!
Once she wiped all the chip crumbs off her, she focused on her task at hand. She needed to see if she could find anything useful inside the ransacked office building. Considering others were being given the same task as she was, the chances weren't high. But, maybe she could spot something others didn't. She did find a open cash register full of cash earlier that day. She also needed to be careful... The Undying and Infected might be lurking inside too...
With her objective set, Ellie crouches down and creeps quietly inside... No light shone anywhere and she was thankful it was still light out. As she crept through a hallway, she was tensed and ready to react, alert to every sound. That's why, as she kicked a stray soda can, she and a nearby stray cat nearly hit the roof! "Eek!" she yelps at the sound, followed by the cat hissing and running off! Quickly, she puts a hand to her chest and takes a few deep breaths to steady her nerves... "P-phew..." she sighs, thoroughly glad it was just a can and a cat...
Once she calmed down, she decided being so tense probably wasn't a good thing...
Eventually, she arrives at a large room with many tiny workspaces lined up neatly; the cubicals sat disheveled but mostly in tact. Deciding this would be a good place to possibly find something useful, Ellie begins combing through each workspace. Drawers were opened, files pawed through, but she found nothing useful... Finally however, she arrives at a cubical with a bag of spare change tucked away in a drawer and a empty whisky bottle on the floor.
Smiling, she picks up the bag of change and tucks it away in her bag. Monetarily, change was useless now, but change had other uses! Least that book: 100 ways to use your change, said so. The booze bottle was looked upon with a frown. Shame really... Alcohol was really useful in sterilizing wounds. Something she had a quite few of... Though nothing serious, just some scratches and scraps from when she hit the pavement.
Once she finished checking all the cubicals, Ellie decides it was time to leave... Undying or infected could pop up at any moment, and she didn't want to get ambushed with a broken arm... Sighing a bit in disappointment for not finding anything useful, the shy, brown haired girl carefully heads for the exit. However, on her way out she came across a strange door... She was naturally curious about and decides to check it, just in case. Unfortunately, after grabbing the handle and trying to twist it, she quickly found it was locked... Frowning, she tries again only to have the same results.
Eventually, she gives up on the door and leaves, but not before making note of the door. Once she got back to the Bandit's base, she tells them what she found and even offers to hand over the change. The Bandit declined on the change, but commended her about the door before sending her on her way.
There were other Objectives she could do, and so when she was given leave, she nods and goes off in search of another task. The Mall Rats really needed those special weapons...
