gaia_crown [ OBJECTIVE 2: ]- Scavenge the office building for supplies OOC: You will need to scavenge the local office building (STAPLES) for supplies. Any information you discover within the building can be used for later. [ Step 1 ] Each player must roll 4d10 in their post. Match your dice to the rolls below. RP it out in ANY order. 1. Your character finds a stapler. It doesn't seem very useful. It is still attached to an arm, that has long begun it's final stages of decay. Attached to the bracelet of the arm is a name. "R O R...." the rest is missing. 2. Your character finds boxes and boxes of receipts. It doesn't look very informative. 3. Your character turns the corner and finds one of the undying! They must remain quiet for a bit to avoid being caught. If your character wishes to fight it instead for some reason, the undying has 50 HP and does -5 auto damage. 4. Your character finds a stray cat. It doesn't seem very friendly. 5. Your character notices a strange room. It seems to be locked. 6. Your character notices a foul smell coming from the copier room. You notice that the copier has stopped running, but there are pages and pages of images that surround it. Each one depicts someone being brutally stabbed. It is difficult to look at. 7. Your character notices some booze! Unfortunately it is empty 8. Your character manages to find some loose change. Not very handy. 9. Your character comes across a disgusting sight - a half-eaten body. The smell is repulsive and causes you to involuntarily gag. The half-eaten face's eyeballs are still looking at you, darting back and forth, moving. 10. You come across several rats all clustered together. You don't want to know why. [ Step 2 ] After your character is done scavenging, simply report your findings to one of the bandits. Your work here is done. Mission Bonus: +1 random drink item. Pick it up here after dropping off the form below. Faction Bonus:+ 1 bonus district point in your choice (drop off using the bonus district points form in your main faction info thread) Difficulty: gaia_star

At this point, Rook was still pretty much incapable of hearing anything, but from what he did manage to gather, was that they needed to scavenge and what not around here as well. Fair enough. There should be a lot more available out here than there would be back at the university. Unless of course, those bandits had already ransacked the place and taken anything of any actual use. Which was highly likely.
With a slight grumbled that he felt more in this throat, than actually hearing it, Rook worked at pushing open the motion sensor door for the staples door. Such a handy feature, motion sensors. But when you were in a time with little to no power, such things really proved to be quite a lot of trouble. Lucky for him that the door looked as though it had already been pried open and all he really had to do push it a little further and squeeze through the opening. It took a little, but once he managed it stumbled through and steadied himself to take a good look at the store.
Boy did they ever let this place go. The place was absolute pit; shelves knocked over, merchandise scattered, and what was that? Blood stains? Joy. Clearly the friendly little appliance store hadn't escaped their little reality either.

Quote: 8. Your character manages to find some loose change. Not very handy. Quote: 2. Your character finds boxes and boxes of receipts. It doesn't look very informative. With a soft whistle, he moved further into the store, choosing to move past the checkout section of the store and go straight to the office. The cashier drawers were likely the first thing that got looted. Not that there was much use for money at this current time. He doubted anyone was going to be honest enough to actually pay for anything when they were too busy trying to fight for their life. The office however might still have something laying about.
Carefully nudging the door open, Rook peeked inside, checking first for any signs of movement. When he saw none, he opened the door wider and stepped in.
Like the rest of the store, the office was in complete disarray. There didn't look like there was much. He did find a small pile of change, but since it was useless and he didn't want to jingle along while trying to hide from the monsters, he decided to not pocket the coins and instead leave them where he found them and turned his attention instead to the pile of boxes stacked in the corner of the room. Which, after pawing through them, he discovered to be nothing more than a useless collection of receipts.

Quote: 6. Your character notices a foul smell coming from the copier room. You notice that the copier has stopped running, but there are pages and pages of images that surround it. Each one depicts someone being brutally stabbed. It is difficult to look at. Half way through digging in the boxes, Rook began to notice it. A strong smell. One would wonder how he could have even miss it to start with, but perhaps, due to the fact that he had held his breath upon entering the room... Either way, it didn't matter. He could certainly smell it now and it was strong, immediately putting him on edge. Quickly, but carefully, he stood and began to move quietly across the room only to stop in front of the door to the photo copier room.
It didn't sound as though anything was in there. But, hell, he kind of couldn't hear anything at the moment too, so perhaps there was. <******** another curse let out under his breath, he gently pushed the door open and held his breath. Nothing. There wasn't anything here, except... Immediately he bristled again, his body completely tensing up. Upon closer inspection, there was something. Pictures. A lot of pictures. But that wasn't the issue. What was the issue was what was printed on them. Death, brutality, murder? Someone had been very busy in here all right. In fact, whoever it was had been busy printing off many pages of what appeared to be victims of a brutal stabbing attack.
It was not a pleasant sight.

If your character wishes to fight it instead for some reason, the undying has 50 HP and does -5 auto damage. There wasn't really much else he could find in the room and after those pictures, which he left right where he found, he wasn't particularly keen on staying here for kicks either. So with what little knowledge he did find tucked away, he decided it was time to leave and began to make his way back out and to the exit. But apparently, luck was not on his side today, because just as he rounded the corner he just about came face to face with one of the undead.
All train of thought ceased. Even his breath seemed to die away and he just froze. By some miracle it hadn't noticed him and he took that as sign to continue to stay still. Sure, the exit was a few feet away. But with the large undead creature standing between him and the exit, he wasn't exactly up to seeing who could reach it first.

Everything in the office begins to shake.
There is something watching Rook in the window.

A few minutes had passed and Rook finally decided that maybe instead he should just inch his way back into the office and silently close the door in order to avoid detection. Too bad that seemed to be a bad idea as well.
The second the door was gently closed, things began to shake violently and he had the brief thought 'oh an earthquake,' before he noticed the rather large red eye watching him from the ********. ********. <******** this s**t!
Next time Charlie could do the s**t run to s**t Staples store! He was so done!
Needless to say. Rook went as still as a statue again. He might have even forgotten the concept of breathing.Zoobey HORRIBLE. YOU'RE HORRIBLE

The entire building began to tilt sideways, shelves, papers, and clutter crashing past Rook loudly. The eye disappeared and was replaced by something else, something that shattered the windows and slowly approached him closer and closer.
What was that?

And now his world was falling out from under him. Wait nope. Just the room.
The clutter was ignored as it crashed past him. After all, papers, staplers, and the occasional printer didn't really compare to the giant freaking eyeball watching you. Except the eye wasn't there anymore, now was it? No, something else has taken its place and announced its presence by shattering the windows.
He would have been concerned that the undead creature lounging on the opposite side of the door would have heard that, but if he had, it was quickly pushed to the back of his mind when the thing in the window started approach him.
Seriously. What the actual ******** is that?
Now he had the good sense to take a few steps back and away from it. The lack of breathing on the other hand, now that was still a work in progress.

The whites edged closer, closer, and it felt as if a black shape was pushing Rook backwards, nearly suffocating him. Shadowy hands grabbed at his clothing, tearing at any fabric or hair as it smothered his eyes, his face, his skin-
- There was a loud snap-
- And then the eye and the shadow, and the hands were gone. It was just him again, and nothing else. Oniongrump Event is over! Feel free to continue!

Whether he managed to breathe or not now mattered not. The darkness was intent on pressing him back and smothering him anyways. The most he could do was back away further and inch towards the door; grasping blindly for the knob. It was difficult. The experience was utterly terrifying and had his heart beating wildly in his chest. He was most definitely ready to bolt at this point. The only thing stopping him from doing was the overwhelming fear rooting him to the floor. Beyond not being able to breathe, or even see, he could feel the shadowy limbs that had formed as they reached for him; snatching and tearing at whatever they could get a hold of and further smothering him.
It felt like it went on for ages that he was stuck in that pitch black hell, until a sudden loud snap rang in his ear and it vanished. Like it had never been there to begin with. Though, judging from the broken glass, the scattered objects of the room, and just the general horribly strong fear coursing through him, it was quite obvious that it had been.
Yep. He was done and he was so out of here.
He didn't even wait to see if the undead was still present before he hastily opened the door and tore off down the isle, towards the exit. He'd go deliver what information he had found, or in this case, what had found him, and then he would proceed to go crawl under the nearest rock and die there.
