Interviews? Now that was something Shaun could get around. He loved talking, he loved people and - he spotted an old lady wearing a superman cape and holding a cane. He squinted at her through both his good eye and his purpling, swollen one.

Yeah.

He knew exactly... EXACTLY... who he was approaching first.

He walked over to her and touched her arm gently to get her attention. "Hey there!" he said, "I'm bored and chatty, so we should totally talk about stuff. Wanna do that?"

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER
Pale white skin with freckles, pale blonde hair and blue eyes – Shaun looks like a young, handsome, somewhat washed out young man. His face was rounder in his childhood, and elongated with puberty, but he still looks like the imp that he is and was, and his body is lean but muscular and very flexible.

Shaun is mischevious, easygoing, and very friendly but he's also a little reckless by nature, especially when showing off his acrobatics. He needs people and does not do well alone, so he makes a great teammate and will be as helpful as possible, but ultimately he is out for himself.

Currently has a black eye. It sucks.

"Woah woah woah, who is there!" Granny smith waved around her cane. "Hands off the cape." she paused and then actually listened a moment.

"Oh hello there sonny, for a moment I thought you might be one of those things. No matter. I'd love to talk. No one has wanted to talk to me in forever. What to you want to talk about? I don have my wallet on my I can't show you my kids and grand kids." Granny was a little excited to have someone to actually talk to. "What faction are you from sonny?" he was probably not a mall rat. Surely not Jeff, the sexy policeman.

It was only because of Shaun's catlike reflexes that he wasn't given a second black eye by the lady's cane. “Whoa!” he exclaimed, leaping back. He would have exclaimed more, but apparently it had all been a big misunderstanding, which was fine by him. The grin returned wholeheartedly to his face.

“Oh man, I wish I could see your wallet” and not for his usual reasons, “I love hearing stories about people's kids and grandkids and awesome trips.” He did, honestly. Most people found that droll, but he had a low threshold for entertainment.

“I'm from the Prison. What about you? What faction are you from, Ma'am?” he looked around, “Lets go somewhere not here, by the way. It's a little... Open, you know? I'm Shaun, by the way.” he – cautiously – touched her arm, hoping to gallantly lead her somewhere safer to chat. “You should tell me about them anyway, you know. Your grandkids. And yourself, of course – you seem like a really interesting lady, you know?”

"Can't you tell by the cape? I'm from the most awesome mall function. what about you sonny? Do you have any grandmas who are worried about you?" she followed along admiring his strong arms. Safer was definitely better. Especially considering her current state.

"Sadly my wallet is with my digs at home. Can't replace that. The cloths I can. Even the cape. Lot of good my money will do me, but the pictures get me through sometimes. I had three kids and several grand kids. of course none of them visit me, the world is going too fast for that. They are living their own lives." she waved her cane around.

"I'm Gracie Smith, though you can just gall me Granny, everyone at the mall does. It's hard for an elder to survive the apologize. but I'm not your average granny." she grinned and gave him an attempt at a wink, looking entirety the wrong direction.

“... The mall faction wears costumes...?” It sounded... weird. Shaun wondered how weird everyone here had to be, to survive.

“Well, granny...” It felt nice to say that. To call someone that. “I can certainly see you are far from average!” he put in a wink of his own, but he did notice that she didn't quite look at him. Was she blind? She was a real badass then, to survive blind, unless... well... there had been flash grenades before. Hmm... “Its nice to meet you.”

He found a nice, quiet place with a chair and a wall that could serve as a chair. Of course, being the gallant young man he was, he offered her the chair, guiding her to it with extreme politeness. “I've never met my grandparents, though I bet you that they're out there. It was just me and my Ma, you know...” he sat down on the wall, “No father that I knew of, though Ma talked about him once. I have a feeling she was running from him, but maybe... I dunno. He could have been a nice guy. It was a pretty odd description... but then of course she went and broke her drinking glass against a wall and started crying so who the hell knows, right?” he said, “So I didn't spend much time around ma. I played outside like a good little boy and took things that weren't mine... thats why I ended up in prison, you know. Took a few things, broke into a place, got caught...” he sighed, “I was hoping to try to join the circus when I got out, but... well... this is pretty much a circus of crazy, isn't it?” he laughed invitingly.

“So yeah, I used to steal things... what about you, Granny? What did you do before this all fell apart...” he hesitated, “Speaking of which, do you have any ideas about how it did? I have no idea what caused it, you know? All I know is that it happened, legit, the day I turned eighteen, but I'm pretty sure I didn't do it...” God, he hoped not.

"Awe sonny." Did he tell her his name, she couldn't quiet remember. "your Ma was probably doing her best. it's hard when you don't have a man to support you, both growing up and being a mother." she didn't have much experience with either, she married Charles young, had kids young and did everything by the book. But she had friends who didn't.

His story struck a cord though and she sat and then beckoned him into her cape. "Come give Granny a hug. yeah this is the best circus we got, but there is more to life than a circus. You can find a steady job, get married, settle down. That can be in your future. I see it shining bright. It might take time to get there but you can make something of yourself. Though if that something is the ringleader I say go for it."

"I ain't got a clue how it happened, but I assure you, that it wasn't your birthday. Welcome to adult hood though. Don't let the pick on you too bad. I'm going to assume you don't know either."

Awwww!

Shaun obediently went over and gave her a big hug. “Thanks.” He hadn't realized how much he'd needed a hug.

Shaun liked to make snap judgements, and he was generally pretty good at them. She seemed like a nice lady, this Granny. He liked her already.

“I guess she was...” he said. He wasn't going to have any idea, though. Who knew where she was now? If she was alive? He found that he only cared a little... “So, I take it you think we're gonna get out of this particular circus, huh?” He wasn't sure how to comment on the 'get married' part. Was that even legal, here? Would he find a nice guy to settle down with? Would he ever have kids? An odd sort of panic and hope fluttered inside him, and he tamped it down. Even if he wanted to – which he might – it would certainly not be here. In Delta. “So, what would you do, if we did?” he hadn't thought about it, really. He'd just been going day to day, moment to moment, keeping his spirits up as best he could. “I bet we'd all be qualified for just about anything after this, right?” he laughed, “Cept maybe a law job.”

"I ain't qualified for nothing but to be old and a nice retirement. Though to me this is a little like playing call of duty, but I have less guns. Like being an NPC in call of duty, hard core mode you know." she grinned.

"I personally don't expect to make it. But if I don't, don't feel bad, I'm in Valhalla kicking butt and taking names. My only request is a nice little head stone somewhere. Maybe with something nice like, she was awesome, or may the horde live forever or something like that. Something interesting." she squeezed him tight and just rested into him. it was nice having a moment with someone. Not just trying to survive. Was her vision coming back? she squinted at him. He seemed like a nice young man.

"But you, yes, if you can survive this, you can do anything. Conquering nations, create world peace or just settle down into a nice 9-5 job. Just take your pick."

Oh, cool! I'm about to go to bed, but we can finish this and do another objective tomorrow... u on in the mornings EST?

Shaun didn't want his new friend to talk like that, but he knew it was true. If the chances were slim for him, how slim were they for her? He liked her, and he hoped that they both – and other people – lived through this mess and found... whatever lay on the other side. “Anything, huh...” he said, He liked the thought of that. He doubted that he could conquer, or be an agent of peace... but he could act, and perform. Dreams of the circus – of performing for famous and powerful people, and lowly commoners. Of being the center of attention, and drawing oos and aahs from his bodily feats. “I like the way you think, Granny.” he leaned against her, “You really are pretty awesome, you know?” he grinned at her, “You totally deserve your cape.”
