Cardio:
Always remember rule number 1. Cardio. Seeing how we have a gym at our disposal, there's really no reason to not keep yourself in top condition, especially during times like this. You need to do a minimum of 300 words among all steps to claim the rewards.

Step 1: Warm up
It's always important to warm up before you exercise. You wouldn't want to pull a muscle, after all.
Roll 1d4
1. Ouch! Seems like you might have overdone it a bit. -3 to your work out roll.
2-3. You've warmed up adequately. Time to get to work. No modifier.
4. You've done an excellent job. Your body is perfectly primed for what's ahead. +3 to your work out roll.

Step 2: Working out
Roll 1d20 and choose a cardio exercise of your choice. Running, jump rope, ect, ect. Then RP it out according to your dice results. Add or subtract whatever modifiers you might have had from the previous step.
1-5: You tried to work out, but you ended up hurting yourself more than anything else. + 0 Bars.
6 -15: You get a decent workout. Not amazing, but it's still something to help keep you in shape. +2 bars
16-20: Great job! You feel invigorated and strong for this vigorous workout. +4 Bars.

Max made his way down the hall with a bit of a bounce in his step, his confidence growing as he approached the gym. There had been no actual mention of a competition, yet after their paintball practice he could only imagine this would end similarly. Diana was a good person to train with, even if she was rather exuberant. And anyway, there was nothing wrong with exuberance. He'd had it, once upon a time, before he'd settled into a job where the most exciting thing there was to do was run a red light every once in a while.

"How do you want to start?" he asked as he began to stretch, feeling a little silly doing so, but knowing it would help in the long run. He tried to push aside any feelings of confidence in his chances.

How did she want to start? That was a good question. The other day she had jogged around the gym, and then yesterday...ugh she hated to even remember how terribly she had done. They could lift weights or do jumping jacks. There was a surprising amount of things to do. She tried stretching once more, and was instantly regretful of it as she felt a sharp pain shoot up her side. Perhaps it was another injury from last time or something. Of course it would start like this again.

"M-maybe we should do something easy at first? Like jumping rope or something?" She wanted to see how well Max could do physical training and such, but her own limit at the moment was a bit sad thanks to her earlier failures. It was really putting a dampen on her plans to go head to head with him.

Smerdle
And she fails again. She has such bad rolls today. XD

"Sure." Happy for an excuse not to stretch anymore, Max crossed over to the supplies and spent a few minutes going over the jump ropes with far more care than he needed to, considering they were just plastic-covered ropes with handles. He didn't think he had jumped rope since he was in the single digits, age wise, but surely it was an activity you never forgot how to do. What was the worst that could happen? He brought over a pair of ropes, handing Diana a blue one and keeping the green for himself. "All right. Here goes."

He arced the rope over his head and began hopping with a look of concentration that matched the one he'd worn while searching for the jump ropes in the first place. It was just as easy as he remembered, and soon he was jumping without thinking, smirking at the criminal in mock challenge. "How do we know when we've won?" he asked her, still jumping.

"How about first one to trip?" she grinned, picking her rope up and beginning at her own pace. Even though her earlier stretching had hurt a bit, it seemed she was doing better now. She wasn't at her top game, but it was still better than the last time she had attempted to work out. She was trying hard not to focus on what Max was doing, but he was a very big distraction. She nearly tripped up and fell over because she was so focused on his movements.

"You're very athletic, do you know that?"

Smerdle
So to see who won did ya want to just roll a d6 or something to see who got the better score? Just to keep this rp going a little longer. <3 I saw poor Max's injury too. Diana will be his seeing eye human. XD

"Am I?" He smiled wider, hopping lower to hopefully conserve energy. To be honest, he had no idea if that was how jumping rope worked at all. "Well, if I am, then you are too. Too bad it took an apocalypse to get me off the couch." He hadn't really been that lethargic, he supposed, just unfocused. He would have said more, but he was starting to get tired, and this had turned into a competition after all.

OpticPeach
yes indeed!
he'll try not to lean on your bad shoulder, diana XD
i'll PM you tomorrow so we can talk about objectives and things

"Aw why thank you kind sir. Though to be honest the real reason I'm athletic is to get away from the authorities," she joked, trying to pick up her pace. Luckily she didn't make a fool of herself this time and actually did well. She was proud that she didn't fumble in front of him. She really didn't want to look bad. It was hard for her to tell who was doing better at the moment though. They were both doing great as far as she could tell.

Smerdle
Sounds good. biggrin I'm super excited for all of thiiiiis.

Normally Max's frown would have protected him from such quips, but he was already smiling and having a surprisingly good time, considering all he was doing was jumping rope. He was no match against humor right now, and as he snorted softly at her joke, he faltered as well, not enough to send him sprawling on the ground or anything, but enough to get him to stop jumping. He tried to keep the rope from tangling around his legs as he conceded.

"It's a very effective workout regimen," he said, forcing himself to breathe evenly. "Since I think you've beaten me."
