As Ellie left the food court and headed back towards her base, she realizes something...
Over the course of the past month and a day, she had quickly become noseblind to everybodies stink... Including herself... She knew her clothes were dirty and that they stunk of BO, but she didn't really register the actual smell much... She'd also become noseblind to a lot of other unpleasant smells as well; such as mold, rot, and must. She had been tolerating all the rank smells with ease, until that is... she put that clean nightgown on...
Spending that night in a clean, if not a bit musty, bookstore, in clean clothes, on clean bedding had not exactly done her a favor in this regard... Her blind nose could suddenly see! And was reeling from it's new found sight... It all came to her notice when a group of sweaty, stinky, and all around rank guys passed her by. The BO was so bad it nearly knocked her sideways! "E-ep!" she squeaks quietly before covering her nose in a vain attempt to save herself from the smell as her eyes began to water! Oh that was bad! When the guys were finally far enough away from her, she releases a breath she hadn't known she was holding... Even when she was noseblind, chances are she would have smelled that!
She had to do something! She couldn't stand that kind of stink! She needed something to block out the smell... Something that smelled good... Ah ha! A Face mask with Potpourri! That sounded perfect! She knew she would become noseblind again, but figured a face mask could be useful in case of times like these... It was decided! She needed to make a face mask!
She'd already seen quite a few other people with masks on, all were made of cloth. That seemed logical considering how much fabric was lying around. So, her first stop was one of the clothing stores. She had plenty of options to choose from but she had to think carefully... What would make a good face mask...
The fabric had to be thin enough so that she could breath through both layers. But, it had to be sturdy enough to hold the potpourri and not rip if caught on something... Thin cotton was the logical choice. It was common, easy to work with, yet sturdy enough to last. A stretchy cotton blend seemed like the best idea. Yes, that would work! But where to get said material? Hot Topic was out, too much silk and denum. Walmart was ransacked... So, the best option seemed to be Gap. She was sure she could find a shirt made of stretchy thin cotton there!
With her material and location choosen, Ellie heads off towards the large clothing store. When she got there however, it looked like others had the same idea... The store was in a shamble, and a lot of clothes were either taken apart or missing all together... Thankfully, there was still plenty of things to pick through. In fact, it didn't take her long to find exactly what she wanted! A large brown shirt made of thin stretchy cotton! It was even thin enough to see through! Before leaving, Ellie grabs a brown, pencil case bag. She wanted it for the zipper.
Needle and thread was no problem for her because of all the educational kits for kids the store sold. She'd already sewn a small purse and woven a bracelet from those kits in her spare time. That meant she could now focus on the Potpourri!

Ellie's first thought on making Potpourri was to go to the florist. It seemed logical at first. Potpourri usually was made up of flower petals. Surely most of the flowers were dead by now.
And dead they were. Upon arriving at the florist, she frowns worriedly at the scene as she walks in... It looked like a flower graveyard... And it wasn't very... aromatic in there either... Soon, her fears were confirmed... All the petals had long since lost their scent... Even the roses smelled dead...
Disappointed but not disheartened, Ellie leaves the flower graveyard that was the florists and heads for her second option, Teavana. Which, now that she thought about it, was even more logical then the florist. Tea was meant to be dried!

The moment Ellie stepped foot in the shop, she thought she'd walked into heaven! The sheer variety and quality of the tea was dizzying! How had she never come here before!?
Being a lover of tea, Ellie relished in opening the various tins and reading the curious lables. Some of the tin's had been sadly left open by careless or thoughtless scavengers. This caused the tea to become tragically useless... Fortunately, most of the tea was kept closed and was still fresh!
So many varities! How would she ever choose!?

So much tea...
Despite what she came there for, Ellie was lost in looking, and smelling, and even tasting all the diffent teas! If not for the fact that she liked books a bit more then tea, she would have made her base here!

Eventually, after smelling practically every tea in the store, Ellie finds her match!
The tea that finally really grabbed her and reminded her of why she was here in the first place, was a simple yet elegant Lavender Earl Gray!
As she breathed in the deep, rich, yet soothing aroma a idea comes to mind. "O-oh! If I spray the mask with my Lavender body spray, i-it will enhance this Lavender Earl Gray!" she exclaims happily to herself before quickly closing the tin. Looking around to see if anybody was there, she pops the whole tin in her bag after she was sure nobody was around.
She'd checked the tea in the back, there was still a few more tins of the Lavender Earl Gray. Surely nobody would miss one tin! She could not only use some for her mask, but she could brew some tea too! Oh how she missed having tea... There was nothing like a cup of tea and a good book...
With her 'potpourri' selected, she now had everything she needed to make her mask! With a soft pleased smile, Ellie leaves the shop in high spirits! In part because, she had so much tea scent in her nose, there was no way she could smell any stink for a while!

Once she got back to her base, she quickly heads to her book vault and digs out one of the sewning books. After retrieving the needle and some brown thread as well as a pare of scissors, she heads to her reading room where she plops down in one of the chairs and turns on the light.
The first thing she did was cut out two even sized rectangles from the brown shirt. Next, she carefully free's the brown zipper from the pencil case. When that was done, she sews two ends of the fabric to the zipper, making sure the zipper remained centered. Once that was done, she attaches two black elastic cords, she salvaged from a toy, to one piece of the mask so it created a loop like what cloth masks typically had. Finally, she finishes sewing up the sides and turns everything right side out.
She needed to make sure the mask fit around her face comfortably; and she needed to make sure tne loops were tight enough but not too tight. She did this before filling it with her potpourri or spraying it. Luckily, all her measurements had been correct and the mask fit perfectly! Now, she needed to spray the mask with her body spray. She didn't coat it too heavily because she wanted to actually smell the tea. And, she needed to conserve.
With the masked sprayed, it was time to add her tea! Using the zipper she added to open the pouch like mask, she adds just enough tea to fill it lightly before zipping it up. Now, with the mask made, sprayed, and filled, it was time to test it out!
Eagerly, Ellie slips the elastic loops over her ears, making sure the zipper faced downwards so it wouldn't distract her. Instantly, she was greeted by the wonderous scent of lavender and Earl Gray! "Ahhh......" she sighs in dreamily as all stink was blocked out completely!
It was a success! There was no way she'd smell the mall rat stench through this! And best yet, with the zipper she added, she could refill her mask whenever the tea scent ran out! It was reuseable!
