Stripping down to his boxers for the usual load of laundry, Mia didn't find himself the least bit cold. Nor was he worried about anyone else finding him like this - others usually gave him a wide berth anyway so it wasn't like he was worried.
After dumping his clothes into the magical cleaning portal that was filled with water, Mia thought for a long moment on how much detergent to put in and decided on what he thought was the right amount. He didn't bother to measure, just poured in what he thought looked right and he was more than happy to start the load while he gathered the other stuff.
Bleach was next, and Mia's mind wandered again. Frowning viciously and staring at the bleach, the blond's look was worried. There were zombies running around - wait, no, they were crawling and sauntering, not running - and god knew what crap got on his outfit, so the more bleach the better, right?
He dumped in half of the bottle of bleach, not really caring if he was wasteful. There were possible zombie germs about and that s**t was serious, guys.
Fabric softener was the last bit needed, but not the least, and he added in the perfect amount and watched as his clothes spun and spun and spun around.
Mia was very much glad that there wasn't blood in the washing machine, or blood anywhere near it. He was thankful that the zombies hadn't made it this far yet.
It didn't take that long for his clothes to finish cycling through the wash, so he loaded them into the dryer and slammed the door to start the drying process, more than happy to curl up on the chair and grab the nearest book that was lying on the table.
It was a romance book, one with a sultry cover that showed two half naked people, a man and a woman. One was wearing a kilt.
Honestly. Who read this drivel?
Tossing the book back onto the table, he brought his legs up and wrapped his arms around them, rocking side to side as he waited.
Waiting was always the hard part. So was thinking. Waiting led to thinking which led to overthinking and this was probably how zombies came about, overthinking and frazzling their minds so much that they weren't able to become much of anything else. Right? Right. This made perfect sense.
But what about the intelligent people?
It didn't make so much sense anymore.
Saved from his own thoughts from the dryer dinging its completion, Mia gratefully got his warm clothes and put them on instantly, reveling in the feel of warm cotton and fabric that wrapped around his body.
Yes! He was now ready to take on the day.
