Kikawaida had slowly put on weight as it became more and more obvious she was carrying cubs. Word had been braught to her that the queen of the swamps had also given birth. She had wished to seek her out and beg her advice but her time had come all too soon.
A wrestless nature had come upon the usually slender female, she had started to avoid Umo, almost frightened by his presence. She had started to search for a private place where she could be left alone, avoiding the pride and anyone else. Her familiar semed to be sticking close to her though. She found it very hard to shake the little Genet so she had had to simply allow him to come with her where ever she went.
Her strange random wanderings had braught her back to her little home in the middle of the marshy grounds, a tiny oasis almost, a single tree and soft dry ground. the tree always deemed to be in full greenery no matter what the time of year and it provided great shelter from the sun.
She lay down to rest feeling exhausted fromt he travells, her body feeling a little achey, her stomach was tight and although she had eaten she had been feeling sickly ever since "Oh Mkugenzi..I feel so tired" she whispered to her little green familiar, her claws digging in to the soil as a shick of pain ran down ehr body. "ohh..whats happening now?" her stomach vibrated visably, moving in a very uncomfortable manner for the inexperienced femme. She jumped to her feet suddenly, pacing back and forth int he shade of the tree before she lay down once again panting. "ohhwah" she mumbled, looking to the little genet for support.
Mkugenzi didn't look too surprised but he did get to his foot paws and pad over to her "now now gel, be calm and relax I'm going to get some help okay, you just, lay still til i comes back you hear?" with that the little Genet bounded away, the only person he could think of off hand to help was Umo, Kika wouldn't be too happy with his presence at the moment, but perhaps it would be best if he went and spoke to the father to be, so he could make a slow journey towards the worries mother.

Umo was not too far off, scenting Kikawaida's trail. She had been there recently. He knew this was a time she would want to be alone. This was a mothers time and he understood that. Stepping with a sigh, he really wishe he could be with her at this point, and sat down. He had to fight everything inside him to not run to her but if she wanted to be alone, he understood. He could recall a mother from his old pride, when her time had come, she had left. He scratched behind his ear, laying down with a thud. He lay his head upon his paws.
And for once, Umo prayed to the spirits he barely knew. 'Spirits that Kikawaida, my mate and love so dearly admire and adore. Please, be with her. She will be lost in her thoughts and in bringing this child into the world. She is my one and only spirits above, hear me. Gaze down on her and guide her. He thought, closing his crimson eyes.

Mkugenzi came trotting from the marshy grounds only to find Umo almost immediately, it was a surprise even for him "you shouldn't be here you know, she'd be scared if you showed up right now" he stated, though that was his way, he had a gruff manner which only Kika seemed to understand most of the time. Wriggling up to Umo he twitched his little tail and sat on his back legs looking at the big sombre lion "she's frightened though." he stated simply, giving a little piggish grunt "You stay here I'll tell you when it's over okay?" he wrinkled his nose again, jumping back off accross the marh to return to Kika. Silly love struck male.
Kikawaida was laying quite calmly on the isle when mkugenzi returned to her, though she still looked harrassed and there was no babe visable yet. "Your..back" she breathed, her voice strained and a little anguished. "It hurts Mkugenzi..did..did you find anyone?" she huffed again her body tencing for a moment.
"yeah i found Umo Lurking, calm yourself Gel or he'll come a runnin" he sniffled quietly and looked at her tence stomach "Tis comin' soon lass, just relax and go with the flow alrigh'?" his brow wrinkled, he thought the first cub at least would be eher by now. "Praps I should go an find asi?" he said looking to kika for advice "Aye, I'll dgo n find er" with that he jumpedto his paws agan and was off in tot he swamps, he knew weher the queen of the swamps rested, as long as she was there it would be alright.
Kikawaida was too breathless to protest, she simply lay back down, her head flat on the ground her heavy breaths meaking the dust flick up around her.

As it turned out, Asali'jua did not need to be sent for or found. She knew, courtesy of feminine intuition and a bit of something else, that is was Kika's time. Half tracking by scent, half relying on that something else, the pale Spirit-talker queen slipped through the swamps with her quiet, efficient grace, which had returned in full since the birth of her own cubs.
Before leaving, she'd made known to the rest of the pride what the situation was (save for Umo, who had not been with the rest). They would not come seeking either female, and knew from the birth of the queen's children how things would proceed when the pride's newest member was revealed.
As she leapt over a murky pool in her path, the lioness smiled to herself. Soon, very soon, there would be a sixth child within the pride.

Mkugenzi pulled to a halt as he saw the approaching female and he raised a brow "y'know if I din't know better I'd say you ad read me mind" he stated as she approached, his little fluffy tail twitching "she's this away missus, frightened lil' thing int she?" his ears twitched and he turned around, he hadn't really gotten very far through the marshy ground when he saw the queen of the spirit talkers. He was starting to think they really could speak to spirits, hosh posh to him, he was happy as long as Kika was, she beleived whole heartedly about these spirits. He gave a little piggish grunt once again as he padded on ahead. Silly gel, imagine gettin herself pregnant and all worked up about it. he was damn glad he wasn't a female that was for sure!
Kikawaida was moving in a rather irritable manner when she saw the sillouettes coming up accross the swamps. She almost smiled. She was so frightened. There was no scent of Umo in the approaching figure though and the dancing colours of the ligth female came to her dusty eyed view "Oh asali" shemumbles, though it was rather a breathless word to the queen ad she flopped ehrself back down again, she couldn't stay still for very long, but it was uncomfortable to lie, uncomfortable to stand and the pains rolling down her tence stomach, they were becoming more frequent, she had the feeling she wouldn't be able to stand for very much longer, her legs were already wobbling quite uncontrolably, pasrtially from fear and partially from the nagging pains.

"Nothing of the sort, Mkugenzi," the queen said with a chuckle as she came upon the green genet, giving him a cryptic smile. Her tail swished behind her as it always did, at a pace that belied only calm. She followed him with steps soft and quick, answering, "It is her first. But all will be well in the end, I think."
When they came to Kika, Asali's smile was nothing but gentle, her manner comfortingly laid-back. Her steps slowed, and finally she came to the huntress and bent her head, running her tongue in a soft, brief lick across the other lioness' forehead. "I cannot take the pain, Kikawaida, only be here if you wish it; this feat must be yours alone."

Kikawaidas eyes were a bit glassy as she looked up at the softly coloured female and she smiled weakly "Thankyou mistress" she whispered, her voice a very breathless strangle as her stomach tenced once again, her time was nearing, she could feel the pain rushing closer to her abdomen, pushing down, trying hard to exorcise the cub from her desperate body. "Please stay.." were her last words before she growled and made a desperate moan at the same time moving in to a more haunched possition as finally her struggling gut managed to push the cub closer to it's birth.
"Ey missus, she'll be alright yeah?" Mkugenzi raised a brow, he tried to look the none challant, angry, green genet he usually was, but he was obviously concerned. Why was it taking so long? Did it always take this long for cubs to come? He supposed so. Once again he thanked his stars he wasn't of the femenine gender if they had to go through that pain.

Umo's head lifted quickly upon hearing the small creatures footsteps. He looked down at it, though he did not recognize him, he knew that Kikawaida had spoken to him. He looked to the creature. He nodded slowly, sitting down on his rump. It was a specail time for his mate and she must do this alone. He just wished so badly he could help her. He trusted Kika and he trustsd these spirirts. He simply, burried his head into his paw to keep himself calm. He trusted the genent would retrive him soon enogh.

"Of course I'll stay, Kika," Asali purred soothingly, settling onto her haunches just so - close enough for comfort, but not so close as to be looming. Her tail continued it's sway behind her as she watched the huntress with calm eyes.
"She'll be just fine, Mkugenzi." She paused then, considering something. "You are close to her, I know, so you may stay if you wish, but once the cub is born, you must not speak," she instructed, "None of us should, not until sh- not until it has a name. It should hear no words until then."

The Green genet nodded "awrioght lady, s'long as she's gunna be awroight. I won't say a blamed word once the babes ear" He snorted looking at the khaki female. Was she in troubles already? His ears twitched and he settled down in a little recess in the ground to watch. It wasn't exactly a males place to wtch a baby being born, but he didn't want to leave Kika. Damn he was getting soft.
Kikawaida smiled nodding an affirmative "I understand" she whispers, though her words were cut short as finally it was time. Her ears flattened, her body tencing as her single cub came in to the world with a bit of a surprise to the swampie female. Rather than a head and front paws, her gaze first met a small wet bottom. A small crack came to her ears as at last her daughter emerged in to the cool swamp air, wet and bedraggled. Kika immediately started to lick the cub, drying and warming her damp fur. Her soft pink eyed gaze fell upon her daughter, she was so happy and the pain was residing. There were no more coming. Breathing a sigh of releif, she pushes her daughter to her belly. She was certainly a big cub, perhaps that was why she had taken so long to come. Looking to the queen she smiled serenely, tired but obviously happy, oblivious for now that her daughter was injured.
Her first breath of air had braught pain. It was cold and dark for what seemed like an eternity but the soft rough damp thing had made her warm and braught her comfort. She squeeked unhappily, so cold out here and her leg was sore. She wanted to go back in in the warm. Mewing again she felt herself being pushed towards a soft plush furry thing. Her nose and mouth finding a teat which of course, instantly braught silence upon the child. Kneeding with only one front paw she fed ravenously, drinking deep of her mothers milk.

Asali seemed unsurprised by anything, but she was very obviously pleased. She returned Kika's smile with an understanding one, and nodded. The cub she watched with a fellow mother's fondness, tail flicking gently beside her.
In the days that would follow, the queen would come and go from Kika's little nest, always quietly and never far, but clearly approving of the entire matter.

Mkugenzi had left only breifly to feed and inform Umo that he had a healthy daughter, always returning to Kikas side swiftly to sort of watch over them a little green guardien angel.
The khakhi female much appreciated Asali'juas presence and was always pleased when she came by, happy to see the queen so pleased with her and of course with her daughter. She knew it would be all too soon when her only cub would have to make her way to the pride and her name would be spoken with a roar, and finally she would be able to speak to her daughter. Though she could not tell her only child how much she adored her, what she meant tot he pink eyed femme, she hummed sweet little tunes from ehr own childhood, which came back to her strangely now she had her own child. She had already chosen a name for her daughter and hoped that Umo would approve when he managed to meet her. Mkugenzi had told her her mate had returned to his pride but would return soon enough.
Kikas only daughter was growing fast and was a little bundle of chub and fluff because of her single cub status. Her mother was an adult and she needed not to share the bounty of milk with any other cubs. Despite her game foreleg which was becoming more obvious as she grew, she seemed full of energy. Soon enough her eyes would open and she would view the world and meet other lions. She knew there was another near by whom came to see her, also female, and her motehr whom was the greatest source of warm, comfort and food, and a strange little creature whom wasn't a lion but still hung around near by. Already her mind was forming questions she didn't yet know how to ask.
